Title: Drunk Driver On Their Own Dash-Cam
Post by: Parker on April 27, 2018, 03:40:29 PM
Beware of the Shizzos of the world. Runs into the grass, almost hits a pole swerving, speeding, hits shrubbery,  and then crashes into a parked car.

Im of the firm belief that there should be a ZERO tolerance for drunk driving.

If you're caught drunk driving, your license should be suspended indefinitely. No second chances.

This is a difficult question to answer.

I’ll get back to you in 18 days.

Thanks.

I agree, 17 days is much better than 18 days.

I like your thought process on this, but not good enough. I have arrested a person who had been arrested 7 previous times, no drivers license yet was passed out at a stop light with his foot on the brake. Just a license suspension is not enough. That will not stop them.

My thoughts.. 1st offense... Ok, people make stupid mistakes.. maybe you were celebrating that new promotion and had one too many. What was  your BAC%? Just over the limit? Ok, Drivers license suspended , court costs, attend alcohol awareness class. That is if no one was hurt.

If your BAC was .5 times over the legal limit, there was no mistake, your were drunk and you knew it. 6 months jail. Double the limit? No one hurt. 1 year minimum

2nd offense. no one hurt. 5 years minimum. period.

3rd offense.  You don't see the light of day again.

Just a general view... but people who have been arrested half a dozen times and still out there.. boggles my mind

It is a real epidemic. Depending on the city but Austin for example with 6th street, the Warehouse District, a LOT of drunks leaving the area at 2am. Only so many cops. I can't count the times I had been driving home and seeing drunk drivers all over the road and all the units were tied up with arrests. If I were a person who wanted to drink and drive and avoid arrest in Austin, I would just wait 45 minutes after the bars closed and would almost be guaranteed to make it home without getting stopped if I didn't crash or kill someone. Ride share companies have in my opinion had more of an impact on reducing drunk driving than any other program or enforcement ever tried. But we still have morons getting behind the wheel to save $20 in fares.
