Seems the recommended protein intake has gone down since I last researched it: from 1.5-2.0 gr/per lb of lean bw to 0.8-1.0; this is for adding muslce. I'm going to try this new macro scheme:
4440 cals
222 protein
666 carbs
131 fat
stats
6'4"
245lb
13%bf
We'll see how this works compared to my former scheme of 430protein, 450carbs, 130fat
Anybody else try dropping the protein and adding the carbs?

Nope. I'm doing the exact opposite.
I'm in my 40s and have a (mostly) desk job. I don't play softball in the summer and volleyball in the fall, as I did in my teens and early 20s.
Therefore, I don't need the extra carbs.

I am 44yo, 5'9" and 250 at 12% body fat. I am currently on the exact macro scheme you were previously doing (430p/450c/130f).
I have spoken with a few people I actually trust and value their opinion on this, and I am being told that at my age, I should give lower protein intake a try....
Im gonna give it some thought, but not sold on it .... YET.
