Yup.  All each winner need do to collect is to send a certified cheque for $1,000 for their trophy and prize money and in turn they will receive the cheque for their winnings.  'n' sheit.

PGA events pay a fortune in prizes and major league sports pay fortunes in salaries. The Houston PGA Open for example had a $7 million purse. Bodybuilding just plain sucks for money.

I am pretty sure that the NOC gave out prize money.

It was also at the prestigious Beacon theater, not a backwoods venue outside of the city.

the IFBB lost some luster after they canned DeMillia. The Olympia has also moved backwards. Used to be at the Mandalay bay.

When you see what these guys go through for 10K or 5K, it is absolutely laughable. Hearing Sergio Jr. talk about no even having money for a return flight home is sad.

If you want to make money as a bodybuilder, invest your money wisely and simply don't compete

That's amazing when you think the Pro IronMan was giving $10,000 for first place back in 1990.

Apparently, no prize money?

If there was any why are they keeping so quite about it?

It isn't mentioned anywhere?

That's pathetic. Who the fuck buys a one way ticket? Lying asshole probably thinks it makes him seem hardcore and dedicated. It makes him look foolish.

Do the "athletes" have to pay for their own transportation (cab fare, planes) and hotel, or is that covered by the organisation?

I wonder what their costs are, just to enter soms contest?

Not even including all drugs and food, but just the travel, cab fare, hotels etc

I'm guessing most lose money with competing....

They do! Something around $200/year for your ifbb pro card to remain in good status....what a joke! the card they receive looks like it was literally cut out from a cereal box...not even laminated!!

Can anyone think of anything they DON’T pay for? I believe that, at some of the shows, there is last minute tanning available backstage for free. Anything else? Cannot think of anything. Maybe some food backstage every now and again. NOBODY does this for direct money associated with being in the show (other than Olympia and Arnold and even then).
