great job failing to provide a link and of course falling for the conservative spin
The rankings considered two sets of metrics for each state:
1. Natural environment, comprising drinking-water quality, air quality, and pollution and industrial toxins.
2. Social environment, comprising community engagement, social support, and voter participation.
North Dakota was crowned with the best quality of life, with two other Midwestern states — Minnesota and Wisconsin — rounding out the podium.
In other metrics, California didn't fare nearly as poorly. U.S. News & World Report deemed its economy the fourth best in the nation, and its business environment claimed the No. 1 spot. The state also ranked 11th in healthcare.
btw - California is a big state and the air quality, environment and "social environment" are just fine in most areas.

We also have a budget surplus

How does that compare to Kansas where it's Republican governor promised to prove once and for all that cutting taxes would boost the economy and it turned out to virtually torpedo his economy almost immediately

Wait, so you're going to tell me that by cutting taxes it's bad for the economy? lmao.
Don't ask me to explain this. I already have in the past. Tax cuts is commonsense but since you're an admitted socialist, it goes over your head. Paul Krugman is a jackass.

I'd rather live in Kansas.

You keep using Kansas as if it's the norm. You fail to mention other cities that dems have turned into shitholes such as Detroit, Baltimore and Chicago.

Straw: Beyond Silicon Valley, Hollywood and the gated communities of the super rich is a third world hell hole. It's not even up for debate.

I believe it and that's very sad. I grew up there in the 50's and 60's when the quality of life was great....at least in my memory and perspective.

CA as a whole is a beautiful state, amazing sights to see and things to do. Lots of cities/counties have horrible issues though. LA is a fucking mess. San Francisco is a drug addicts heaven, OC isn't too bad yet.
I can't wait to see what San Jose looks like, any recommendations? :D
