At what age can an enlarged prostate become a problem?

Is it a rarity for a healthy 20-something year old individual who works out regularly and is a moderate drinker?? And what causes a prostate to be enlarged?

And is it possible for a doctor to see if one's prostate is enlarged without sticking a catheter where it fears to tread?

A sports doctor told me that for the 1952 Olympics, the Soviet lifters were given cypionate during training. Modern ancillaries were non-existent. They had to be catheterized in order to pee.
