'I could feel his teeth sinking into my arm': Moment Instagram model, 19, is attacked while posing with sharks in the Bahamas as she tries to get the perfect picture.

She said her boyfriend's family was 'freaking out' when she told them she wanted to swim with the sharks, but she decided to do it anyway.

They were nurse sharks. Had they been say tiger sharks, hammerhead sharks, black tip sharks, or the bull shark, then the odds would have really been that she was risking a limb. All these sharks are found in high concentration in the Bahamas.
Also, from the looks of the pics, it seems like there was a feeding frenzy going on. Which is all the more reason not to do what she did.

To get bit by a nurse shark you have to almost work at it.... or be in a school of them when it's feeding time. Those are probably kept in a fenced in area so the locals can make money off the tourists posing with them

I think the odds were low. I've mingled with Nurse sharks both in a "pen" and in the ocean diving and they are like large catfish. Probably 300 tourists were in there before her that day with no issue. With all of them in that one area I suspect is was feeding time.

I’m like, why? She said her mom swam with nurse sharks in the Bahamas and wanted to do it. I told her any sharks we run into would likely not be as friendly. She’s only 20 and doesn’t know any better. I see a fucking 3’ shark in the water, I’m out.
