Title: Resistant Bands....
Post by: SF1900 on July 12, 2018, 03:43:08 PM
I was thinking about purchasing resistant bands. With or without handles? I surmise that the resistant bands with the handles are a better purchase for performing more movements. Yes? No?

No, I am serious.

I am changing my whole training routine around.

No more just barbells and dumbbells.

Trying to incorporate kettle balls and resistant bands and other such training methods.

As one gets older, one has to change around their workout for longevity.

But, the thing is, Ive really only used barbells and/or dumbbells, so I don't know much about other training methods or equipment.

switching up the flexion\gears points in muscles via bands arent gonna do diddly squat for gains

thats like using different gears on a motor, or bike , output is same, grow the engine n stop posting for one year my friend until u learn to critically think bro

You might find something better and cheaper at your local medical supply store.

Long strips of baloon-type rubber material that varies in thickness and "pulling strength".

That may not be an adequate description but we used them often at physical theraphy sessions.

Tie one end to the door and you're good to go for less than 20 bucks.

Depends on what you want to do. I use bands with handles for lateral shoulder raises and rear pulls as finishers. They do a great job for endurance. Even biceps curls and triceps pulldowns are decent but the resistance rom can be lacking .The no handle versions are good for calisthenics bar assistance, like pull ups, muscle ups, and front lever raises - actually very good tools if that is the type of training you want to focus on.

They are just tools, they shine in certain areas. Just like free weights. But you know that.

Of course.

I was thinking to maybe use them on the days I don’t get to the gym. Just to do something.

I think you'd have better luck with resistance bands.  You probably could have gotten good deals at S & R during their clearance sales.

I can’t always make it to the gym even on the days I should be training. So this is better than nothing.

These are great! Opt for the red & black ones (or combine them). Only buy thicker ones in case you use them for pull ups or deadlifts.

Ok, let me clarify. When I said that it was purely out of sarcasm and aimed at Josh because I’m the one he’s always targeting for talking about myself when In fact I don’t mention myself nearly as much as some others.

Do you believe that Josh participated in that vacation tread? Thread wasn't started by him, but by a ratherbedepressed individual

You mean, for example, attaching the bands to a barbell while bench pressing?

Hmmm maybe on the incline hammer strength press.

I love resistance bands and they came in handy since I solely trained people at their homes.  Compact, portable and a wide range of different exercises that you can do.   The flat strap bands I mainly used for training legs.

Some of you have doubts so I'm putting up this video to watch

Hmmm maybe on the incline hammer strength press.

Almost every back, chest and delt & hamstring machine. Esp their seated hamstring machine, since the resistance is much less when you fully contract your hams.
The incline with bands is great as well, esp when you suffer from rotator issues like me :-\
