Brian Christopher Lawler, the son of Jerry “The King” and a former WWE star known as Grandmaster Sexay, died Sunday. He was 46.

Lawler allegedly attempted suicide Saturday night, TMZ Sports reported, by hanging himself in a jail cell just outside Memphis. He was discovered and rushed to the hospital, where he died surrounded by family and friends, TMZ reported. His father, the iconic wrestler and WWE commentator, was by his side.

Lawler had run into problems with the law, most recently earlier this month, when he was charged with DUI, and had not pulled over when police started following him. When he eventually did, the car smelled of booze, cops said.

Lawler was half of the tag team Too Cool, along with Scotty 2 Hotty, and he professionally wrestled, at least sporadically, from the late ’80s until 2014, when he made his final WWE appearance.
