Idiot clearly said multiple times he was going to kill the men with guns...they were "dead"...and all they did was calmly stand their ground...No question they would have been seriously assaulted if they were not armed..and we don't know backstory..if this guy had violent history,etc....but seems HIGHLY likely that this guy had a violent streak if he threatens to kill men with guns...definetly would not say he was killed over "garbage". Man said he was going to take the gun and kill them both..and was testing how close he could get to do just that.

This type of thing could potentially happen every day, even without firearms in the mix. Think about: Someone pushing you as you walked down the street, or cutting you off on the highway, or even a domestic argument between a married couple or family members over air conditioning or the TV remote. It's part of being a non-idiot to walk away without letting it get to the point where there's a fight or a shooting.
Was it worth it for that guy who yelled at them? Sure, they're going to jail, but he's dead. No coming back from that. Clearly his judgment stank as bad as the trash in that alley.

In this disgusting Europe,you literally have to wait for the attacker to fire a bullet at you,and only then (if he misses or you're wounded),you can fire back. Even at your own home facing a burglar.

What made that show great was that despite being set in a suburban Texas neighborhood that was almost completely white with stereotypically southern-acting characters, it was nothing but an endless parody of that lifestyle and those kinds of people generally. Like the time Hank found out he was born in NYC and was so ashamed of it he literally almost had a heart attack when he found out from his dad that it was true. Mike Judge was a great writer. Proof not all liberals are braindead, just the majority.

You didn't consider one other option: He pulled a Clint Eastwood in Gran Turino and deliberately got himself killed in order to get his annoying redneck neighbors a life sentence or something along those lines. That way he dies a victim rather than a villain (which he would've been if he shot first) and they go away to the dustbin for 30+ years in the bargain. Not everyone wants to live. This guy wasn't even 40 and clearly was looking for trouble.

This happens in wealthy neighborhoods also.....There was a true crime show on TV that featured neighbors getting in fueds and killing each other and many of the incidents depicted were in upper middle class areas or wealthy areas. Usually it's 2 hardheads living next to each other and a fence line or something and neither will back down or be reasonable. Much more common than thought.

Texas and Florida are "stand your ground" states so you don't have to back off.
Each state has its own laws about it just like each state has different gun laws. It's very confusing.
Most states you need to be in imminent life threatening danger to use force against another. Like someone attacking you with a knife, chasing you around.
Someone stealing your car out of your driveway you let him do it and call the cops. You can't shoot him.
In a situation like the above you would need to walk away from the screaming idiot and his crazy girlfriend as he is unarmed and you are able to back off.

The fact the guns were used will take priority over arguing if the mere fact of having them there was intended to cause alarm. From the response of the dead guy, the defense could easily argue it didn't cause alarm because dead guy in spite of the guns being present, thought it ok at attack one of them.

He told me because I wouldnt let him walk that way that he would not deliver the mail and would just send it back I tried calling the usps before walking down to make sure to get him On recording refusing to give me my mail he refused to say anything. so I called him a Bitch an a coward for not repeating what he said and I went Home….15 min later My home was swarmed with Police banging on my door Scaring Emegail so I had Kara leave with Emegail because my medications had not kicked in and I was getting overly anxious with the police.Tried calling Grandma only to realize well shes out of town. I asked if they had warrants they said they didnt need one as they continued to bang on my door profusely an hide away from my sight which I called them on multiple times. I told them I have a mental issue they needed to leave I did not want to talk to them and they insisted on causing me emotional and mental strain along with the physical strain of my heart not being able to slow down over an over.I told them you can call my caseworker I have the files verified of my disorder all you have to do is leave my property because you do not have a warrant I walked thru them and left MY OWN HOME because I did not feel Safe. I left long enough to allow my meds to kick in and calm me down before coming back discovering they were still there SO I showed them the video of exactly what I said when I walked down the street to him.. They are now reporting that I made a terroristic threat when I told the mailman to stay away from the girls windows because he might get shot..I also have had Adult Protective Services called stating that I am not in my right mind 3 hours after all transpired I told them I am fine and asked why they were calling they said because Abilene Police Department called saying I was a danger to myself.. Not anyone else to myself.. I am so sick of the harassment everytime APD shows up to my door …I DO NOT HAVE TO ANSWER MY DOOR I DO NOT HAVE TO TALK TO YOU IF YOU DONT HAVE A WARRANT GET THE FUCK OFF MY PROPERTY …..then louder then louder then louder till I HAVE no hold back. Was a reason given? Bail is typically based on flight risk and continuing danger to the public, work history and ties to the community. I can hardly tell what happened immediately before the shots were fired. It looks like the dead guy was physically provoking the older guy as the guy seemed to be ducking/dodging something. I thought it was a board and it sounded like a board bouncing off the ground. If that is the case and the man struck the guy with a board, that would likely mean the shooting would be justified.
If I had to guess, I think the dead guy had just watched the clip of Tombstone where Kurt Russell faces down the obnoxious house dealer. It just didn't turn out as he was picturing it

I'm guessing based on the 7 ft claim that dead guy threw the bat at Old guy, at that moment younger shotgun guy blasts him and dad follows suit with 2 shots. I think they might beat this rap. their attorney can bring in an expert witness to explain action and reaction time and while his throwing the bat left him "unarmed" the shooters decision to fire based on the bat being swung towards his dad would be hard to change. There is a 22' rule used to teach cops about dealing with a subject with a knife. Basically at 22' a armed assailant can close the gap and stab you before you can draw your weapon. It is used to illustrate, distance, reaction vs action. I don't see why a guy threatening to kill them several times, and had a deadly weapon at 7 ft wouldn't fall into that scenario. It is Texas, all players were white, dead guy had police record.. I don't see them going to prison on this one.
