Recently, I've been thinking about buying a Super Nintendo to play Super Mario World and other games in a RGB TV :P.
As you can guess, it's difficult to find one in good conditions, and finding games is really hard too.
I could use an emulator, I could buy the mini version, but noo... nostalgia kicks in and makes me want to buy the real deal. WTH? ???

The Bee Gees, particularly "How deep is your love"..
I remember sitting in my dorm room listening to this song on a vinyl record and having all sorts of feelings while smoking a fatty.
Today, whenever the song comes on the radio, it takes me back to those days.

Good call man! RGB is the best way to play vintage video games. Sadly it was never used in the U.S on mainstream TV's. I have a Super Nintendo hooked up via S-Video, which is the best option we have in the states, without modification.
Finding a Super Nintendo should be pretty easy, even in really good shape. The games are also relatively easy to find, although certain titles can cost quite a bit! Luckily, a lot of the popular first party titles have gone down in price significantly since the release of the SNES Mini. I would check out Facebook marketplace and craigslist before jumping on Ebay. Try to buy games in large lots and sell/trade of the games you don't want! I was able to do this when I first started collecting seriously, and was able to amass a collection of over 500 NES games with little money spend out of pocket!
Good luck!
Oh... and to answer your question, video games from my childhood is pretty much the only thing I'm nostaligic about. lol

500 games sounds like a dream come true lol. I'm not in the US, and I live in a small town, so those things are a little hard to find. Still, I appreciate your advice, sounds like a good strategy!

You can get a box that will convert RGB to HDMI.

I agree with music.... A certain cologne or perfume also brings back strong nostalgic feelings for me as well.

What is RGB?
I have a Sega Genesis I was thinking about breaking out but it wont fit my TV. I love this old game called "Star Control".

That’s an insensitive comment, most of us haven’t left our parents living room since 1972 :-\

Music and for some reason old ads from music / life style magazines from my youth circa late 80's, 90's. Google Books lets you read full magazines from New York (https://books.google.com/books/serial/ISSN:00287369?rview=1) and Vibe (https://books.google.com/books/serial/ISSN:10704701?rview=1), and a few others. The old ads always take me back to certain events in my childhood by the long route.
I'll see a t-shirt or sneaker ad, and be like "Oh, I remember those, Ricky had them on back when we went up to Chinatown to buy fireworks", and things like that.
Those old ads can be a trip, some of them look so dated now. The worst though is seeing some band or obscure movie from back then, and realizing it's 20 - 30 years old or that the people are now usually 50+. The years, they sneak up :( :).

I have several old consoles, but I prefer to use an emulator to play the games. More for convenience really.
The old 16 bit games still look great on a monitor or HD tv.

Honestly, for the longest time I was going to go for a complete set of NES games, but once Stadium Events sky rocketed in price, I basically gave up. To think that I could have bought it for around $200 less than 15 years ago and now it's a 10,000+ dollar game!
I figured you weren't from the U.S., since you mentioned RGB. If there is something like craigslist in your area, buy up a want to buy vintage video games ad.
That's pretty much the only strategy for saving lots of money on games. Buy large lots for as cheap as possible and resell your extras on Ebay for as much as possible. lol I know it's a douchey strategy, but it's basically what everyone in the collecting business does.
I've actually moved on from collecting console games, and now collect coin operated arcade cabinets. There is something about having all of your favorite games from the 80/90's in their true arcade form that is very nostalgic for me.

Everything outside my front door.
It’s pathetic.
I vehemently reject what now is the society in which I reside.
Insanity and weakness is the new average.
Fuck the world. Hail and kill.

Old my man!
I got into bodybuilding when Arnold was Mr. Olympia. Still Arnold is way older than I am.

This also brings back memories.
Used to watch this with my family back in the day.
We only had two channels in Sweden back then (we got the second channel in 1969) and most of it was shit, so when we got some sweet TV-series from the US of A it was a time for rejoice.
Then later on , 1980 , this was the shiznit!

When I was kid my parents had an old TV with knobs. We had 2 channels but one of them was crap, so I basically grew up with 1 channel.
This channel (the cool one) used to play the shows Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies every single day, even thou it was the 90's lol. I barely watch TV nowadays, but when any of those 2 shows is being played on Boomerang or any other channel I end up watching haha.

Mine is not the Bee Gees, but certain songs from my era, usually spent listening with a girl I was dating at the time. Odd, it can even bring back the smell of the individual. The perfume, hair, etc.

Analogue Super NT and flashcart or a hack mini snes. Some much better than an emulator.

Do you notice a difference in picture quality?
I've read that 16 bit emulation is apparently accurate.
