This may a bit off topic for a bodybuilding board such as this but it could turn out to be somewhat interestng for some GetBiggers.
Last week I was taking a five mile hike along the Strip and stopped mid-way to check out some new burger joint inside the Casino Royale Casino.
I think it was called Whte Castle.
So I placed my order and received a bag-full of little, shitty burgers and could only stomach one and continued my walk looking for a garbage can to dump the 5 or 6 little, shitty burgers that I had left.
But I passed a desperate street bum (we have a lot of them here in LV) so I stopped him and asked, "If you're hungry, here's a bag of burgers that I just got."
And it was like I gave him a illion dollars! He was overly thankful which really surprised me and made me realize that these 'bums' were really hungry.
So these past few days I have been passing out little burgers to street people who look pretty damn desperate and have been totally surprised by how they reacted and who they turned out to be.
Such as yesterday!
Yesterday I stopped an Indian guy who was definitely down on his luck and I asked him why was he was so fooked up.
It turned out that he was a vet who once served in the US Army 82nd airborne and also in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles.
At first I doubted his honesty but then he started naming the officers in the 101st whom I was familiar with and we proceeded to discuss our military mis-adventures for the next 30 minutes.
He showed me the messed up, combat damage to his arm which earned him a Purple Heart and total disability ..... before we departed with a curtious nd a promise to buy him a beer if we ever crossed paths again
salute.
And that was just one of the street bums who had an inteesting earlier lifetime that I had the opportunity to meet.
Another was a former CEO within a major Fortune 500 institution ...but that's a long story for a later time.
A lot of these street people live underground in the storm drain tunnels which was described in detail in a book that was written a few years back.
A lot of LV bums ask for a couple of bucks because their 'car ran out of gas', but many others are just plain damn hungry and really appreciae a couple of those shitty White Castle burgers.

Have you been verified as a real person stunt? You seem to have live a Forrest Gump style life.

Street people suck ass.
Either mentally fucked or addicts or a combination of both.
Either way, human garbage doing nothing but dirtying neighbourhoods, costing taxpayers and upping the crime quotient.
“Oh, poor guy ... “
Bunch of libcuck nonsense.
If Fortress ever gives one anything, it’ll be a kick to the balls.

Tramps are generally fucking shitbags who wholeheartedly deserve to be on the streets, the filthy cunts hang around in the big market at night harassing drunken students to buy them food from one of the several takeaways. Would sooner donate to acre’s collection scam than buy food for tramps who likley spent their dole money on drink and drugs

In NYC there are plenty of phony street people. Especially in Manhattan. They sit on a cardboard box begging for money. I wouldn't doubt if some of them are making more than $50 bucks an hour. The women that use little kids really clean up. They give the real homeless a bad name it goes without saying.
I've dealt with a lot of homeless people in NJ. They live in tents in the woods. Hang out in a library for the AC, heat, computers and bathrooms. They sleep in isolated chairs in the library. A church around the block from the library feeds the homeless. Many that I have talked to collect disability. It's the holy grail and they all talk about how to get it. Two guys that had side by side tents collected $1200 and $1000 a month. I asked them why don't they get a one room apartment and they were both against it. One said in another year he is going to buy a used car. They are not always rocket scientists. A rough guess is that half of them in the town I'm talking about Toms River, NJ are heroin addicts. Some of the homeless were scumbags but many weren't. I truly felt sorry for them. I saw one regular walking one day without shoes. She was bare foot. A girl about 30 years old. I asked her what happened and she said she was being used for sex in exchange for living in a drug infested hotel. The hotel was raided and she jumped out a window barefoot. I went to a shoe store with the intent of buying her some shoes explaining to the owner what I was doing. He gave me a pair of slippers for free. She wore them for a week before she got a pair of shoes. Sadly she over dosed a few months later. No one claimed the body.
Stunt sometimes I wonder if what you type is real or fiction? My son is Army Airborne. The 3rd Battalion, 509th infantry Airborne (Geronimo). He has jumped out of prop, helicopters and jets. He has jumped in the Arctic in freezing temperatures. When he came back from Afghanistan he surprised the wife and me while we were in the pool having a cocktail this summer. He joined the military when he was 17 with my signature and the Army took him on his 18th birthday. He actually grew two inches in the military. In Fort Benning we saw him graduate from Paratrooper school. We saw him running from a mile away with his parachute after a jump in 90 degree weather. He had such a big smile on his face seeing us.

Some of these tramps in London make 400 quid a day, I give them fuck all
-
I can't disagree with most of the adverse comments about street bums that have been made above ... and I sure as hell don't feel any remorse about them, but I do find it interesting that SOME of them have really been involved within a more sophisticated lifestyle than they are at present.
And I hate to throw food away!
OLDTIMER, Thanks for the intresting post regarding your son! I am going to send you a private message ASAP which you and your son will find to beof interest ... and then maybe you can answer on my behalf if I am "related" to Forest Gump .... or maybe closer to Gomer Pyle!
Stand by to stand by! And please salute your son on my behalf!

Where about's for that £ I'm travelling to London every day

A former CEO of a Fortune 500 company is now a street bum?
C'mon...

I've given to homeless, especially in DC and Los Angeles, but one thing you have to be aware of is that occasionally your social contact with a schizophrenic person, by giving them $, may prompt them into a conversation with you that you might wish never started.
-
IRON, Regarding the Fortune 500 street guy!!
I assure you that it is true.
In fact OnlyMe used to know him as a street person until that street person passed away .... Only then did OnlyMe discover who this guy was because they wrote an article about him in a Honolulu newspaper.
If I can find that, I'll post it here.
KWON, Thanks! (I think.)
-
Stunt you should give White Castle another chance.
-
MEGA, The only conversation regret that I ever started was a teephone conversation with a good friend.
It went something like this.
Me: How are you doing now? (He had just reently lost his right arm after an unsuccessful suicide attempt as a result of serious drug dependancy problem.)
Friend: Can you help me again.
Me: I can't! I already tried! And look what hapened.
Two months later a second suicide attempt was successful leaving befind a beautiful wife and a young son.
Anyone on this board have suicidal friends or associates? Or are possibly even considering doing so?
The Suicide Prevention/Crisis Line is very busy now-a-days whenever you place a call to any VA office.
Why is that? I've never considered asking that question before.
-
OK, Dave, I will. But why do I find 6 of those litle burgers in a big bag when I only ordered one?
I always step into CASINO ROYAL for a cold $3 beer (cheapest beer on the Strip) and play one of the bar-top poker machines, so next trip ... I'll add a bag of White Castle burgers and give you a seond opinion.
(White Castle is inside Casino Royale now.)
But I am an In 'n Out fan and they have a new and fancy place beneath that big Ferris Wheel about a 5 minute walk fom White Castle ... so it's gonna be a tough decision.
-

Bullshit. For a person to be homeless it takes a series of bad life choices not one thing like a banking crash. Everyone else experienced the same economic conditions and we aren't homeless.
-
Stunt, I always enjoy your stories. You have lived an interesting life.

many people lost their homes because of mgt lenders look it up...
-
RJ, Thanks! I have to agree that I have had a more interesting life than 100% of my friends and associates.
And I can honestly tell you that everything I have written on this board is 98% accurate ... with only 1% being a very slight exaggeration and the other 1% due to long term forgetfullness!
It all started when my father told me to get out of the house and meet people.
The next morning I stold his car and drove to Los Angeles, snuck into a bar called The Lamp Lighter and had a beer with a guy by the name of Marlon Brando .... and he paid for it.
And that kind of 'stuff' still goes on.
And as of today, I feel that I have met everyone I've ever wanted to meet ... including the majrity of those individuals mentioned on this board.
I think I have already mentioned that a couple of us were planning to write a book .... but were told that we'd most likely be 'dy-ded' before we got it published.
I seriously doubt that, but we never did write it anyway.
My current interest is encouraging friends who have an interest in screen-writing.
one friend's work will be filmed by a major studio early next year.
Another friend has written one of the best "franchise"" scripts that I have ever read and has received 'inside' encouragentfom a Hollywood VIP which might mean that that script will see screen-time.
-
We frequently have bums holding signs at many interstate exits.
One day, I rolled my window down to talk to one of them. This guy's sign declared him a Nam vet. I didn't quiz the old fuck, but I did ask where he served.
He immediately started babbling about some incoherent shit, punctuating it all with a declaration that he was "also in World War 2."
I said something like, "Try harder next time, rummy," then went on my way.
I was stupid to do even that. Never again.
-

Dan where did you find the percentages that you've quoted?
-
Lol burgers will fuk them up

TITUS / MARTY, Years ago I was in one of these local McDonald's and noticed a street person outside who appeared to be asking for money in order to get some food.
So I ordered a burger for myself and a burger and a coke and fries for the guy outside and handed it to him on the way out.
And his only response to my good act of generosity was, "WHAT THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THAT?"
I guess that just goes to prove that the 'lak of a burger' just might have been the thing that fukt him up.

why eat dead body parts. U can get complete protien from plants?
-
Thanks, Marty, but I prefer dead body parts providing the are not of the human kind.
And a good salad to help get it down.
But I actually do regret that someone has to kill a cow so that I can enjoy a $2 hamburger.

This. They should be rounded up and put in institutions. They can’t do that in San Francisco for politically correct reasons and that’s why the place has become a shit hole. Seeing the same thing happening in New York City. You see all these nice white middle-class people and then you’ll see some busted different shoe on each foot wearing smelly Dindu walking around aimlessly.

You beat me to the punch. Apparently, he doesn’t.

Do what you want but if I were you I wouldn't get 'em wet or feed 'em after midnight.

SCOTT, Am I the ony one who understands that?

MARTY, I mean to say that I would prefer dead animal meat over dead human meat.
But I have yet to try human meat in any format.
Are you GetBiggers aware that the last man to be alive on a raft lost at sea ... wil always be the fat guy?!
Unless the skinny guys cut him up and pass him around.
Has anyone ever seen reliable records of eating your fellow raft-mates while afloat at sea?
Or if the US Navy ever did a sanctioned study regarding "Last nan alive who surived on a raft after the ship sunk?
Might mke a great motion picture if it hasn't been done already!

Falcon, Spirulina is the best protein , just little bit too green :)

jf you want to help street people - give them a $10 card to subway sandwiches instead of money

Yeah, you should try that. You'll see a completely different and much more sour expression when they realize it's not a prepaid credit card on the other side of the magnetic strip but just a one-time sandwich voucher. lol
these guys want booze and drugs like all the others

Two stories:
1) My pops worked in a major city for 38 years. Every few days, him and his friends would see a homeless guy on the same corner, so they would give him a few bucks. My pops later learned that the homeless guy owned like 8-10 buildings in Manhattan. ??? ??? ??? Guy was probably a millionaire. Did he just "get off" on pretending to be homeless? Some sick fantasy? Who knows.
2) Was in Manhattan and walked past a homeless kid about 21 years old. Stopped and talked to him. Apparently, he comes from a wealthy family, told me his dad is a surgeon and mom an executive for a Fortune 500 Company. I asked him why doesn't he just go home. Apparently, he moved out, wanting to prove to his parents that he could make it on his own. Started a business that failed and was homeless. He told me he doesn't want to go back home because of his "pride." He can't stand to look his "father in the face." Who knows how true it is. But, yeah, if it is, might as well just move back home and try to start over. Better than being homeless.

A perfectly good suggestion if his story wasn't a figment of his imagination given that he was really a junkie with delusions of grandeur and an arrest record for fraud and theft as long as your foreskin

These fetid fucktards you see on street corners or medians at intersections are there to get money for their fix. Once they have it, you won't see them until the next time they need that fix.
Fuck that noise and any that would give these asspuppets money. I don't even feed them.

It’s a classic arguing technique by liberals to present a rare exception as though it were the rule. The overwhelming majority of these people are fuck ups who burned all their bridges.

LANCED, No way nor no need to prove my lifetime experiences with ya ... but you said something interesting when you mentioned a "movie script".
Within the past 48 hours, I sent a pretty damn detailed account regarding my 'association' with the 101st to a fellow board member which just so happened to be seen and read by a good friend who is a screen-writer and he said, "This is interesting! Let me work on it!"
So .... you're either clairvoyant or pretty damn smart!
If it ever does get accomplished, I'll send you a copy!

Same as other fat folk.
Lack of physical activity and they eat too much.
All those half-eaten Big Macs they find in the dumpsters.

There are also food pantries and churches which serve free meals. In some areas you can eat pretty well for free.

Anyone who lives in the street is there by choice. People who downsized due to shifts in the market or losses in their stock portfolio or any number of other bad circumstances can always get a job, even if it's minimum-wage part time work at a local department store or warehouse. They don't want to work, because that requires sticking to a schedule, listening to a supervisor, being told not everything you do is right, and having to, you know, work.

Do the Math. In some areas, wages are going up, but remain closer to the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour. Congress hasn't voted to raise the minimum wage in more than a decade. Rental rate have been steadily climbing in the past decade as shown in the charts below. Minimum wage isn't enough to pay rent, buy food and staples, pay utilities and cover the cost of transportation.

The reason rents are very high in these liberal paradises is because of rent control and excessive regulation which create housing shortages. Building new housing becomes cost prohibitive. Another example of liberal good intentions backfiring because of economic iliteracy.

You're right, 7.25 isn't enough to pay rent unless you're with roommates. But most hardware stores pay the same salaries to their rank & file to remain competitive from a recruitment standpoint, and Walmart's minimum is now close to $13. More than enough to live on.
Moreover, if you're in an area that's too expensive, move out. It's a huge country and there's cheaper rent in the middle and south of the country. If one job isn't enough, get two to make it full-time. If that's not your thing, go back to school on loans or join the military and get an education that way.
This is the richest nation in the world. Every opportunity exists for those who want it and have the qualities. If you don't want it or don't have the qualities and STILL don't want a job, there's welfare, EBT cards, and disability (which many abuse and shouldn't be on).
Homeless people have a ready made excuse for everything and none of them WANT TO WORK.

I do not understand how so many of them can be so fat if they cannot afford food.
Australian FAKE homeless easily get free food from several churches & other organization.
For example, in Sydney pro beggars "work" in shifts/rotations of 3 hours.

For example, in Sydney pro beggars "work" in shifts/rotations of 3 hours.
Australia's full of liberal pussies. They're so scared of free speech and what it can do that they banned David Irving from giving a speech there even though he's a world-famous historian and has a daughter there. They took away everyone's guns because some beach bum shot 30 people in the mid-90s. They give free goodies and special status to aboriginals. Meth addicts abound in every city. The cops are a joke.

In NSW gun licence apply for air rifle, but anyone can buy munition making things ;)

Prime are you saying there were people in Oregon who lost their homes during the crash and became homeless while working for minimum wage?
-
Anyone who lives in the street is there by choice.
Exactly. I’m sure a few of us got crushed via the market at least I sure as hell wasnt shorting the market so I lost. Becoming homeless tho. What did he say ??like 22%? Haha people say some random shit on here.
You don’t need fiber either in your diet just meat.

STUNT have you ever posted a picture of yourself, will you present us a picture so w know you are a real person amd not some gimmick? Holding an Upside down coffee cup picture will do.

Dan where did you find the percentages that you've quoted?
I couldn't find it.
I did find this article

That didn't work out very well for Navy Mike and it never seems to work out well for Go 4 It.
We're pretty mean people.
But I will say I like SuperTed more than Superted Superset. That guy's a turd.

The reason rents are very high in these liberal paradises is because of rent control and excessive regulation which create housing shortages. Building new housing becomes cost prohibitive. Another example of liberal good intentions backfiring because of economic iliteracy.
Guess you didn't notice the national statistics.
-
You're right, 7.25 isn't enough to pay rent unless you're with roommates.

One might be able to get by on $13 an hour and have enough to pay rent somewhere if they are lucky enough to land full time work or are able to cobble together enough hours from different jobs. Walmart has stores in the boonies. So for a lucky few who have jobs at Walmart they might be okay as long as there are inexpensive rentals available. Aside from Walmart though, there is a reason the cost of living is cheaper in the middle of the country and in the south as well as small towns in the rural parts of the country everywhere and that is because there are fewer jobs available in these places.
I'm not arguing with you because I agree that if someone who is healthy and able to work wants get off the streets they can. Maybe I am just so accustomed to the comforts of life that I cannot imagine ever being homeless, but a lot of these folks don't just choose to live outside in doorways under a cardboard cover unless they are nuts.
Not that I am an expert on disability, but I don't believe it is as easy to qualify for it as you think. No doubt there are some people who manage to scam the system, but I suspect their numbers are less than you think.
We can discuss this ad nauseam, but that will change nothing. The homeless population is ever increasing and it is a problem for everyone. What is needed are solutions which will lessen the number of homeless folks shitting on our lawns and on our city sidewalks or we can just ignore it like they do in India and other such places. I'd be interested in knowing what solutions you've come up with to fix this.

The number of people scamming the system for disability is HUGE! The city of Portsmouth Ohio has 25% of the adult population on disability. In the 70's it was alcoholism, in the 80's the bad back, in the 90's migraine headaches and now it's anything "mental" that can't actually be tested such as bi polar disorder, social anxiety disorder and the like.
-
Guess you didn't notice the national statistics.
Minimum wage is not meant to be a livable wage. It’s meant for entry level employment. In fact, it does way more harm than good as it is a price control. When you raise prices artificially, you reduce demand. This hurts the people at the bottom of the economic ladder. Once again, it’s an example of liberal good intentions backfiring because of economic illiteracy.
-
It's amazing how people get fixated on minimum wage. It's for entry level, unskilled work. You know what I do at my company every time min wage goes up? I let 5-10 people go.
-

A lot comes from Unions. They have a better chance of unionizing an industry when there is a small gap between the minimum wage and the union wage.

Here's a question regarding a subject I know nothing about.
It concerns the present city of San Francisco as explained to me by a very intelligent and highly placed San Francisco resident .....
He explains that there are three (3) classes of San Franciscans ....
The Upper Class .... Wealthy individuals
The Middle Class .... Yearly income around $90,000
The Lower Income Class ...
He says that the Lower Income Class are subsidized which allows them live in decent residences which are very expensive throughout the Bay Area.
But the Middle Income Class San Franciscans are on their own ... so they beome the city residents who have difficulty paying high monthly rents and are forced to move elsewhere.
So eventually SF will consist of the wealthy and the poor.
Also San Francisco is a "Sanctuary City" which either plans or presently allows non-citizens to vote .... which seems strange to me!
I no longer live in the Bay Area so I am ignorant when it comes to this subject, but I figure that some GetBiggers might explain the good or the bad ramifications of the above.
And ... Another San Franciscan says that the San-Francisco-Shit-On-The Street situation is an over-exaggeration .... which I find hard to believe after reading the Shit-on-the-Street reports on this here internet.
Any GetBigger living in the city or within the Bay Area??
Would be good to hear from the horse's mouth regarding this SF sitution ... rather than the other end!!
Thanks!
-
Stunt, it’s all basically a byproduct of rent control. New housing is required to alot of certain percentage of the units to low income residents. This means that the remaining housing costs even more to compensate. So, only wealthy people can afford those places. Obviously, the middle class gets squeezed out and also the lower income people because the building of new housing is discouraged because it is cost prohibitive.
Essentially, every liberal policy that is designed to help the poor ends up hurting them. Now, they want to institute a tax on businesses to help support the homeless. Who is going to be hurt by this? The people at the bottom of the totem pole who will be let go because the businesses can no longer afford to pay them.

Please, it goes on everywhere:

The Times articles reported that virtually every career employee of the railroad was applying for and receiving disability payments, giving the Long Island Rail Road a disability rate three to four times that of the average railroad.

THIN LIZZY - I seldom speak about shit I know nothing about, but I am familiar with the following which may or may not approve of what you said above concerning RENT CONTROL.
A good friend who I attended high school with eventually became a high school teacher ans was the only friend I had throughout my school teas who remaned to be a San Francisco resident.
He lived with his parents in the Sunset district of the city untin he completed college and then rented a large apartment on the top floor of a high rise building located at the very top of Nob Hill
which was and still is one of the finest residential areas throughout the Bay Area.
When he initially moved into the apartment his rent was $800 a month
and shortly thereafter .... rent control was initiated ... so he continued to live in one of San Francisco's finest residences with an unreal view of the Bay Area until he retired.
Recently he became ill and moved in with family members north of the city and the individual who moved into that $800/month apartment is paying close to $5,000/month and commutes to Silicon Valley, but only when he cannot do his job on his home computer.
So I gotta assume that once these old time renters either move or pass away, the monthly rents will be raised accordingly which means that property values will also increase making San Fran even more expensive to live within.
Many people say that is common within every major US city so San Fran is not the only one in troule.

I do find it hard to believe that people on the low income side are better off in San Francisco than those middle class. I was out there recently and met a lot of people. Some of our friends are from the area and the impression I got, and I may be wrong, is that in order for lower income people to live IN S.F. they must share a place with several other people. That's pretty common in expensive cities.
-
AGNOSTIC, I also find it hard to believe a lot of the shit I hear about San Francisco and I did not know the lower income group had to share a place with several other people in order to get 'substidized'.
But the fact that many people live together ....would that not alone make rent more affrdable due to the fact tht more people are sharing that rent obligation?
In that case why would additional aid from the city be necessary?
Is there a SF website that informs San Francicans how to obtain this supplimentary financial handout?
It all appears to be pretty damn strange to me as it seems to be an open invite for those without decent incomes to move to this strange city by thr bay?
PS ... I have relatives whose folks purchsed a 3 bedroom home in San Francisco's Sunset district in the 1950's for approximately $12,000 to $14,000 (US) .... and that house now appraises at $1,200,000. (Mainly due to the financial growth of Silicon Valley which used to be nothing but cherry and apple trees .... and a train station.)

WARNING: Long and somewhat unrelated post here!
ONE MORE, 6 Reps, and all other White Castle enthusiasts,
I took your advice and returned to White Castle but without a hang-over which I seem to be impossible to get .... and once again ordered three of those little burgers and was still un-impressed ... but I sat down at the Casino Royale bar and set myself up like an inside-a-casino-Sunday-picnic, ordered a $3 beer, put $5 in the bar-top Poker slot machine ... and proceeded to enjoy those little burgers simply due to each of the above .... the casino ambiance, the $3 beer, that Poker slot machine, and the catchup in those little hard to open 'envelopes' which I forgot to mention up above.
But if I had dined on those little burgers at one of the White Castle tables (less than 40 feet from that Casino Royal bar and under the same over-head) I would have offered the non-eaten ones non-gratis to the hungriest looking individual in that place.
So I now gotta admit that I like WC burgers under certain conditions ... and I still cannot believe that one or more would help a hangover unless you added a half dozen apirins (?) along with that little package of hard to open catchup.
By the way ... Those $3 beers (your choice of many brands) in the Casino Royal are the cheapest drinks along the Strip unless you enter QVC where youcan also receive a limited amount of cash with a purchase without that $5 surcharge!
But the Stage Door bar on Flamingo (often a very tough place to enter) offers Bud drafts for 2.
So if you're thirsty and CHEAP, give them both a try!
I'm not cheap but I do long hikes on a daily basis usually along the LV Strip and I do take advantage of the rare things that the Strip has to offer.

Used to stay are Harrahs before it just got too smokey and spent most of my time taking advantage of the odds at the Casino Royale. Can't beat the odds on the strip. Spent countless hours at the craps and blackjack tables. Played just enough at Harrahs to get comped rooms. Our tradition was always eating a prime steak at the Outback there. I never understood my buddies insisting on that, given you can find an Outback anywhere, but I guess there is the only Outback that serves a prime ribeye. Not to be a party pooper, I have eaten a few there.

AGNOSTIC, I walk/stumble at least 3X a week. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the steak-house in Harrah's called "Ruth's Chris Steak House"?
OH, Yea! My mistake! You are correct about OUTBACK being located upstairs in the CASINO ROYALE!
Are you aware that the Casino Royale deals $5 BJ from a continuous Shuffeling machine now-a-days and only pays 6-5?
But the do have one table that deals a one-deck game for $10 which surprised me.
Another big surprise is the large number of 20 somethings who play roulette in which the is something like a 25% disadvantage.
And what is winning strategy at the Craps table? I know all the odds but never seen to walk away a winner ....and the number 9 always seems to come up more than any other.

It's been a year or so since I gambled at the CR. I don't know the winning strategy at the craps table I just know how to limit my losses while my buddies play. It's just entertainment for me. I play the pass line, odds on the pass line, 6 and 8 and that is it. I press once I recoup my initial outlay. Then it's just a matter of having fun.

I'll answer for him. No, he most certainly cannot.
So I guess you think all of those people are legitimately disabled?

The problem with idiot socialists like Sanders is their first instinct is always to “stick it” to business. What he doesn’t realize is that this kind of thing is just going to discourage the building of new housing and as a result will create even bigger shortages:
It would be like if the government created a law that prevented Mercedes Benz from charging more than $10 thousand dollars for a car. Would you get one? Of course not. They would just stop making them.
https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20181028005043/en/Senator-Bernie-Sanders-Endorses-California-Proposition-10
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On the heels of his campaign stops in California where he identified housing affordability as an issue of economic justice across the nation, Senator Bernie Sanders announced Sunday afternoon via Twitter his endorsement of Proposition 10, stating: “Currently California cities and towns aren't permitted to pass rent control measures to address the affordable housing crisis. That should change. Municipalities should have the freedom to deal with the decline in affordable housing and rising rents. Let's pass Prop 10.
-

It goes on everywhere, I was referring to one city listed in an article. I've lived in several different states and my guess is at least 50% can work and that's being very generous.
Yesterday I saw a story on the news where a woman who has had cerebral palsy since 5 months old makes paintings by moving her eyes and the computer draws where her eyes go. She made over $14,000 for 1 painting! She works and she can't even move anything but her eyes.
I've worked with people in wheel chairs, blind, deaf and missing limbs but all of these people with bi-polar disorder and social anxiety disorder can't. ::)
Unlike Straw Man you seem to be a decent guy but I think probably a little naive when it comes to this stuff. I will work on converting you. :)

AGNOSTIC, Your strategy and feelings about the game of CRAPS is identical to mine Pass line / Odds bet / 6 & 8 / and enjoying myself along with the other winners and loosers at that table
Add a couple of drinks with a $2 tip = a great time!

Your certainly entitled to your guess as to how many people on disability are scamming the system, but it is still just an assumption with no way to prove it.
You must be determined to be disabled by the Social Security Administration (SSA) in order to qualify for SSDI or SSI. The process isn't a cake walk. Your doctor(s) must verify you are disabled. Then you'll need to hire an attorney who handles the lengthy process, including, reams of paperwork and representing you at your hearings before a disability judge. About 65 to 70% of initial applicants are denied. If you decide to pursue a reconsideration appeal your chances of qualifying worsens. Reconsiderations rates of denial tend to be between 82-87 percent. Depending on how backlogged the Social Security Administration a successful claim for benefits can take a year or more.
If you are interested in knowing more about the processes involved in qualifying for SSDI, SSI, Medicare and PERS disability, let me know. I have some experience with these things.
Converting me to what? I have an open mind, so I am interested in learning more about most things. Keep in mind, if all you bring to the table is opinions, they won't be enough to change my thinking.
-
It's much easier than people think to get on disability IF the person knows how to play the system. There are people who legitimately need the aid that have a hard time because they have never been taught how to game the system.
Doctors are reluctant to turn someone away who is claiming a mental disability like social anxiety disorder because if that person goes off and kills people the doctor will get blamed for not "doing something." Same for the second Doctor the feds hire to approve or disapprove of the claim. The applicant already has a doctor or two saying they qualify so if the fed doctor (who spends like 5 min with the person) declines them and the person goes off in the future they are really in the spotlight for not approving the claim.
Just fucking with you on the conversion.
-

Knowing the system/process before applying for SSDI would definitely be an advantage. Debilitating mental disorders are definitely harder to verify without a long history of treatment. Having never gone through the process, I have no idea how one proves the are permanently mentally disabled or even just disabled for a year or so. I would think one would need historical documented evidence not just a recent diagnosis.

While you guy were carrying with this serious debate/conversation ....I was dining on 4 White Castle sliders and a couple of Bud Lights while inserting $5 bills into a viseo Poker machine.
I suggest you all get out of the house and go run a mile or two and have a slider and a beer in your closest casino and start enjoying life as you see fit.
