Im lucky where I live, there's not too many tools in the gym like I see on YouTube, etc.
Saw a guy this AM tough, comical. Younger guy, probably around 30, with his headphones on, eyes closed, rocking head back and forth listening to something aggressive, but he was acting bad-ass.
Looking around, sneering at people. Now the dude was fat and very weak, my 110 lb. wife was benching more than this guy. (He had 25's on the bar).
His shirt was very tight, where stomach was falling out the bottom. Very skinny arms, etc. His phone had to tell him how long to rest between sets.
When he went over to squat rack, he was doing presses, so his tiny shirt would go up higher, and more fat belly would fall out.
Probably normal for a lot of places, but this knob stuck out like a sore penis in this place. We just dont have many douche's around here (in gyms) at least...
Modern day douches ::) ??? ::)

One hour a day, two or three days a week, plus creatine = MIGHTY LEVIATHAN WARRIORS. All bow before their superior lives.
Or not. Actually life will just continue to piss on them.

Lots of iron warriors in my gym on gear. Once their cycle ends they disappear.

They're just out getting all the girls brah.

Big headset, big gymbag filled with fart powders and chalk, a cap or a hood over the head, RED gym shoes!!!!!!! The finish line is in sight, you’re killing it!!!
-
I’ve been lifting for 20+ years and will never lose my desire to train although I will never enjoy the gym “atmosphere”.

Going into battle is when you hit the weights.
Going to war is when you get on that stage against other thong clad warriors and strut your stuff.

I don't like headphones or those ear pieces they bother me I kinda zone the gym music and people out when I train years of doing it I guess, so its easy.

Tell me about it. Older guys like me, Funk, Wes and others remember the gym's from the 70's (and even earlier for some of them Geezers) 8) that it was a small crew, of serious guys, lifting iron.
Old York and Jubinville benches and racks, maybe one machine (cable lat / tricep thing). No music, no douches, nothing really.
(How I miss the ancient YMCA in Lawrence MA with dripping ceiling and old school barbells and benches).
80's came around, wasnt bad yet, but getting a bit "ferny and chromey" but not much.
90's, Gays started flopping around the BB stages like gay Michael Jackson dancers, many "came out" to participate in the gym culture.
Fast FWD to today, like society, its just filled w/ the douchiest of douche-bags ever, and will get worse. again, lucky there are so few near me, or I wouldnt go and just be a 100% home lifter.
(I split my time).
Hah.. GHEY!!!!

Yes, back then the gyms weren't air-conditioned, there were no TVs, cell phones, minimal cardio, mostly free weights. In those days only the ones who were serious about training would bother. And lifting was simple in those days. Push, pull, pick up , put down. The stuff people do today is just assinine. And the atmosphere and camaraderie were great. Didn't need any headphones or earbuds to tune everything out. The atmosphere and people were inspiring.
I wish I had the space to have my own home gym. If you are fine with training alone then I think that it shows you do it for the love of the game. Some people just can't workout unless they have a partner or other people around them.

I get that. Big clunky headphones like “beatz”. I use ear buds to listen to music and make sure no one talks to me.

I have a great home gym but lately I have been lifting in a hard core gym. Many hard core guys training there. Also a lot of old people because it's so cheap. The gym is lacking hot women. There are few but women don't like hard core gyms. They like pristine new machines, nice flooring, personal trainers wearing the gym's uniform, and the women train in clothes like they are at a fashion show. My place chalk is flying in the deadlift area. Dumbbells go up to something like 175lbs. Not sure, I never go on that end of the dumbbell rack. ;D

yes, was thinking this pertaining to "step-through" squat bars and such

Next time stop and say hi!
Next week I’m breaking out my striped parachute pants and my wrestling shoes. Do they still make fannypaks?

I was thinking it was about the bicep supination machine becoming a commercial success.

Lots of Motorhead, Saxon, Maiden, UFO, Sabbath, Dio, etc...

Sounds like a good gym, not many like that around. Our place has a nice mix of normal elderly folks, to hardcore Powerlifters. Many of the hot girls, out-lift the douchey gym-bro's.
I have a great home gym, glad I have both options. If it were just Planet Fatness and LA Fatness around, I would be 100% home-gym...

Women were few and far between in the original hard core gyms in S.FL. Was a lot easier to be focused on training.

I listen to Ozzy's Boneyard, Hair Nation and Lithium in my home gym during workouts. SiriusXM rules!
