Dafuk is a poppy?
Poppies are little red flowers that are usually planted and offered up in traditional remembrance of the War dead. It is in reference to this WWI poem -

I read about the Serbian soccer player who didn’t wear one. Had t heard anything else but I’m sure there’s folks who want to buck the system, much like kneelers. I guess you can’t force someone to do it, so there’s that. Times they are a changing Donny boy.

My grandfather was in ww1 and lost 3 brothers in it. He and his friends from the same time period absolutely hated the poppy and Earl Haig as he basically ordered men to their slaughter while sitting in his comfy office. (Haig was behind the whole poppy thing and to this day it is the Earl Haig poppy charity).
I can safely say that back in the 1920's the men who had served wanted nothing to do with poppys. My grandfather never wore one right up to his death in the 1980's.
Incidentally, WW1 was a pissing contest between queen victorias grandchildren. The leaders of UK , Germany and Russia were all first cousins who met each year in Scotland at Balmoral. No need for them to have gone to war with each other.
Check out the picture of the inbred fuckers who ruled Europe and decided to go to war for some fun and slaughter of the common people.
Funnily enough, the British and German royal cousins dressed in German uniforms prior to WW1.
And King George and Russian cousin Czar Nicholas were obviously a pair of inbred fags.

The nationalist community here in Northern Ireland tend to find poppies offensive. I enjoy drawing their attention to the fact that if the Nazis had succeeded, Irish Catholics would have suffered the same fate as the Jews.

Funny to think ,that when World War I came round, there were still veterans from the Crimean War and Indian Mutiny around and plenty of American Civil War vets were still going strong.
I think around 12% of British soldiers ,who served got killed in World War II. For British generals the fatality rate was round half that of common soldiers, around 6 % .Still, the British top brass had better chances of getting killed, than most American soldiers in World War 2 . The worst death rate was for British junior officers, who lead the charge over the over top .They were readily identifiable by their uniforms and a big fat target for German snipers and machine gunners. On the first day of the Somme I've read something like 60% of British officers were killed.

Today I saw a TV commercial for remembrance and such.
Flashed old war pics across the screen.
In one, three apparent airmen are shown. Two whites ... and a Dindu.
Huh?
Talk about revisionist engineering.
A bloody chocolate face in some black-and-white war photo, all uniformed up spiffy-like.

Spot on. If 'leaders' had to carry out their own orders, there would be world peace in 24 hours.
Blows my mind that rememberance days have been successfully made into a propaganda tool for the military when it should be a national day of 'We're not killing and dying for your stupid agenda, and if you try to make us we're going to drag you out of your office and into the street for some very unpleasant business."
As if the poor dead fuckers didn't get exploited enough while alive. Now they stuff the corpses full of bullshit every year and parade them around to sell the living the lie of noble purpose. Yeah, I can see people saying screw your poppy nonsense.

Are you saying that the person didn’t exist? Or that person wasn’t an airman? Like, there was no such thing as black airman back then?

Yeah, I've always like it too. I first read a bit of it as a little kid on a famous Hell's Kitchen monument -

not in the first world war
Eugene Jacques Bullard (October 9, 1895 – October 12, 1961), born Eugene James Bullard, was the first African-American military pilot.[1] His life has been surrounded by many legends.[2] However, Bullard, who flew for France, was unquestionably one of the few black combat pilots during World War I, along with William Robinson Clarke, a Jamaican who flew for the Royal Flying Corps and Ahmet Ali Çelikten of the Ottoman Empire.
