Looks like all those die-hard Americans who love their country are back to watching football.

Well played, NFL. Well played.
Not just the games, but the controversies. It seems the American TV-viewing public (still) loves football.
The New York Times reviewed the network TV ratings landscape after the first two months of the new primetime season and discovered something about football. "Oh, and football. Viewers still can’t get enough, which has come as a relief to network executives."
After a series of leadership missteps, the league has steadied itself and placed most of its attention back on the game. The league has been less reactive and let the games themselves sit in the spotlight.
Even when ratings dipped a bit in recent years, the NFL remained a ratings juggernaut. After some hiccups, it's clearly back.

You can kneel during the anthem, beat white women and commit a number of other crimes and we will all still watch and buy the team related gear.
And when we want to complain we can log on and post here.

Just imagine how many, who hated the NFL last year, are watching it this year?
Americans have very short memories when it comes to things like this.

What are we supposed to remember about theres violent minority thugs? They're real American heros.

I haven’t watched an entire game this season, I’ll admit I’ve flipped through and stopped for a few. That said, the protests are either not there or are not visible. The public has spoken. Ratings dipped when they were pissed, and now things have changed people have come back to watch.

I highly disagree.
So, are you saying that as long as the protests are not visible, the patriotic Americans are okay with this? Some moral value system. ??? ??? Further, I do not think things have changed that much since last year. We know most of the NFL players are still anti-anthem and that should be enough for these so-called patriotic Americans not to watch. Hell, this shit only went down 1 year ago. It proves that all these loud mouths have a low moral value system or short memories. All these people talking about "never watching again." Real patriotic. Though, I do know some die hard patriots who, according to them, have not watched this season. At least they stuck to their guns.
But we can agree to disagree, I guess. Cheers!

It's a lot less controversial this year because you're not hearing hardly anything about the kneeing and Trump hasn't made much of an issue of it. Yes, we still love our football.

So, basically, all the people who said they loved their country more than football either have a low moral value system or short memories?
I mean, people were talking about "bringing the NFL down." Seemed like that didn't last long.

I still have 16 players in the NFL, I'm watching, I love the game, it's my release on the weekends. College on Friday and Saturday, NFL on Monday, Thursday and Sunday.

But did you talk about boycotting it last year like others?

But did you talk about boycotting it last year like others?
No, I didn't. How I can I boycott a game where it's part of my job to watch when I have players on multiple teams?
-

So then I’m not referring to you. I’m referring to all the others who said they were going to boycott it and never watch it again.
-
So then I’m not referring to you. I’m referring to all the others who said they were going to boycott it and never watch it again.
I personally think that MOST of the others that said they boycotted, eventually went back to watching especially with the NFL expanding back into Europe and Mexico. If someone has been watching football all of their lives, they're not going to stop.

So, these people either:
1) lied?
2) have a low moral value system?
3) not as patriotic as they made themselves out to be?
Which one is it? Or maybe its more than one?
-
But did you talk about boycotting it last year like others?
If they changed the behavior that was causing the slide in veiwership, why wouldn’t people go back to watching?

habit and they like the game. Don't over analyze. It's as simple as that
-

Did the behavior change? Or, are they just not showing the behavior, as you said (not visible)?
If it’s still happening but not visible, then the behavior didn’t change.
Which one is it?

So, basically, kneeling was wrong last year, but not this year (if it’s still happening).

I haven’t heard about it, so I assume it means it’s not going on.
Your avatar is terrible. I automatically make assumptions about your posts now because of it. ;D

Yep, for its reasons, it’s wrong and based on a lie.

I don’t know either.
Maybe they are going to commercials during the kneeling 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
;D my avatar is of a great man! ;D

I didn’t ask that.
I asked if they are still kneeling, the more people start watching?

I think his avatar is that of a beautiful man...lol

Probably, if they are (and I’m sure they are because Goodell is a liberal cuck) they aren’t televising it.

NF what?
-
inflated viewer numbers
-
Kneeling was never the real issue. It’s longer term trends. Football having one of the strongest viewerships will be one of the last to fall but it will.
The State of Traditional TV: Updated With Q2 2017 Data - Marketing Charts
https://www.marketingcharts.com/featured-24817
In percentage terms, Q2 traditional TV viewing by 18-24-year-olds was down by a huge 15.7% year-over-year and has now fallen by 43.6% since 2012.

Not just football. All of the major sports have aging demographics.
Major League Baseball’s television audience is among the oldest in professional sports, according to data recently released by Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal and Magna Global. The average age of a baseball viewer is 57, up from 52 in 2006. There won’t be a youth movement, either, as just 7% of baseball’s audience is below age 18.

Yeah, but far from ever going away. NFL will likely not go away in our lifetime.
This is even more surprising, given all of the so-called patriotism during last years protest.

watching baseball is about exciting as watching grass grow, and your right about the youth movement, basketball is probably the most popular sport with younger people, i have been over seas many times, the nba is by far the most popular american sport over there

Fuckin' assholes watching these Sunday savages. I tapped out after Week 2 of the 2017 season and will never watch a snap again. The AAF (2/2019) and XFL (2/2020) will suffice my pro football jones.

The NFL got rid of Kaepernick and just about all the kneeling in public.
End of controversy.

I think this has a lot to do with it but the sports media guys like Colin Cowherd will never admit it.
-
In 2016, when former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick first began his peaceful protest against police brutality during the National Anthem, the NFL’s ratings dipped 9% to an average of 16.5 million per game for the season. That decline carried over into 2017 before two straight seasons of improvements. Now, with teams organizing demonstrations of unity and racial quality amid the Black Lives Matter movement, audience levels are off to a mixed start despite the lack of counter-programming in the pandemic.
