Sorry if tgis has been posted before. But if not....just watched this 10 minute interview with Wheeler...discussing his fall from grace and heavy dialogue about his kidney transplant and mental illness. Serious shit...heavy....tremendo us respect for this man. May change some peoples views on him.

Crazy what he went through must of been hell!
-
He did it to himself.

He had the greatest potential of his era. Thought he would dominate the Olympia for many years. I wonder if all that oil clogged his kidneys as his body tried to filter it out. I hear these fans of site oil injection say it's harmless vegetable oil. A little on a salad is okay as it goes through your digestive system. Injecting oil into your muscles that makes it's way into your blood stream for your kidneys to filter out is insanity. High blood pressure from steroids and diuretics contribute to kidney problems. He rationalizes that other people have his type of kidney failure that don't use bodybuilding drugs so it has nothing to do with his life style. Maybe he's truly has a genetic predisposition for kidney disease. Maybe he is using everything he has to lie to himself.

Ernie Taylor’s triceps show way worse abuse than what Flex did:

Still baffled about him destroying a very good physique.

They get into a mindset where they think they are improving rather than destroying and there are just enough fans, etc. to encourage rather than discourage this.

It's an older, more reflective, honest Flex speaking here. I met him in his younger days when he was near the top, he came across as being arrogant. Not supremely confident......but downright arrogant.... just an asshole TBH. The only question now is whether he's truly changed his attitude or not even if he is an asshole....Whatever the case, I don't wish illness upon him although maybe he's still cocky. He does speak with an intelligent speaking style.... but he lives his life like a dummy. so who knows.

I met him after he won the USA. He seemed approachable and friendly. Met him again around 1997 at Gold's Venice... absolute asshole. He drove a high end white Mercedes then with the loudest stereo/bass I've ever heard. He was a fucktard and he did it all to himself. So the steroid abuse had nothing to do with his kidney failure? lol

Primarily through the success and influence of Arnold, bodybuilding took off in the 80s. Until, that is, people realized that their muscles were all drug built. Then the schmoes and their sub-group the size-queens took over and it all went Hell in a dialysis machine.
Flex remains a victim of his own arrogance. Don Long too. Matazzaro died from it. Piana and McCarver are dead with doubtless many more, including Whoremonized woMen, to come.
The only "congential" problems these pussies face is that of their ego. Good riddance.

Flex was a royal prick in his day. Now? Who knows.
And to suggest his health wasn’t wrecked, at least in part, because of drug use, is plain dumb.
