Freedom of movement is freedom of thought. A bodybuilder restricts his movement by keeping his muscle fibers fatigued and damaged in routine, not to mention whatever other tissue damage he incurs at the same time. No matter that case, he sacrifices motion for muscle mass by preference.
Why are free-spirited intellectuals slight people whose bodies are only accustomed to everyday movements? Because they refuse to impinge their motion through inflammatory exercise. While these are content with an ordinary body, the poor foolish body builder picks up the barbell and turns pangs of vanity into inflammatory muscular stress.

Why do people call bodybuilders vain? They don't build up tissue because they are vain, they are vain because their tissue is constantly being built up.
"No pain, no gain": constant muscular inflammation means constant suffering, which is largely unconscious. Our own pain is more perceptible than others' because it is nearer and more immediate. This is why no one expects a beaten and run down slave to be moral.
The bodybuilder beats and runs himself down. His shadow grows with each repetition until it obscures all of society.

Because people and the judges make them feel hot in a beauty contest of ideal male beauty.
Most bodybuilders would never bodybuild if muscles didn't increase sexual attractiveness. Being or feeling exceptionally attractive compensates for the pain that comes from workouts that exhaust the muscles to the point of limiting movement.

this is obviously wrong. bodybuilders feel like shit, which is why they need the muscles in the first place. they accrue a lot of tissue pain and emotional pain too, when women realize what's behind the muscle: nothing but a little black ball of fear.

Define "Bodybuilder" first of all. Is it someone who works out to stay strong, look good, and blow of steam, or is it someone who is up on a stage, wearing a thong, who is full of AAS, SEOs, etc.
Two completely different mindsets. Two completely different lives.
And everyone has pain in their lives jackass, it's part of life. You're not being insightful or clever with the drivel you're spewing. Obviously you're depressed and are disillusioned because "bodybuilding" didn't take your pain away.
As the previous poster said, go get some help.

Suppose I am seeking help. Wouldn't it be better to do so among people who have the highest probability of experiencing the same thing? Who is surely not some therapist sitting in an office?

Right, because if someone has a heart condition, they'll get better by surrounding themselves with other people who have heart conditions...
Alcoholics will get better by surrounding themselves with other alcoholics....
Talk to a psychiatrist. They'll probably prescribe you anti depressants and start you off in low dosages and go from there. If that's what your brain is lacking (serotonin/dopamine etc) it'll make a significant difference and quickly.
If you truly want to feel better.
And lose that attitude. You are using both the word "office" and "sitting" in a condescending way. Grow up.
And for the record, I've never had an office or desk job so I'm not "defending myself".
-
Alcoholics will get better by surrounding themselves with other alcoholics....
Isn't that what they do? If so, what's the difference between alcoholism and heart disease?
-
Isn't that what they do? If so, what's the difference between alcoholism and heart disease?
Alcoholics don't get better by being around other alcoholics - unless it's in a setting with a psychiatrist/therapist etc.
I don't know what "the difference" is? There are a million differences between anything if you break it down ad nauseum. If your point is to draw attention to "your plight" then by all means, continue. Lament the situation you, others, humanity, the world, nature, war, cruelty, death, and everything else everyone is in. If this is a part of your identity you think you still need, to stand apart and differentiate yourself from others - knock your self out. Have a blast. You're just prolonging the inevitability of facing ther only person you need to face - yourself.
Seek help or pretend you are. Or continue to trade one mask for another.
When you've endured enough self-inflicted pain, you'll decide to finally get help.
Until you've had enough, no one will be able to help you.
I wish you all the best human.

I'm speaking from personal experience, as well as first hand experience with many others including family and friends.
There will be some people, although fewer as time goes by and the dinosaurs among us die off with age, who will say these neurotransmitter chemicals are just a placebo and have no real effect on the way your brain functions. It's all in your head - pun intended.
There are also some people who still believe, although fewer and fewer as time goes by, that anabolic steroid chemicals are just a placebo and have no real effect on the way your muscles function - it's all in your head.
We are all walking around in a meat suit held together by a balancing act of chemicals. Some we have just the right amount of. Some too much of. And some not enough. If you see a window. An opening. An opportunity. Take it.
-
Yep, thanks bud
Thought so.
What are you seeking help with ?
-
.Some we have just the right amount of. Some too much of. And some not enough. If you see a window. An opening. An opportunity. Take it.
But who can say what the right amount is? Did you fear that perhaps your low levels might be for your own good in the long run -- perhaps that such misery would compel you to escape a miserable, circuitous life? And that by ramping up the level with drugs you would only be killing your dissatisfaction, the last hope you had to pursue a more meaningful life?
-

The liver is an organ. The heart is an organ. The brain is an organ... you are intellectualising a mechanical process. If your liver isn't functioning properly, do you take medication for it, or tell someone not to so that their dissatisfaction with life isn't removed?
If someone's thyroid isn't working properly, and thyroxine gives them the amount their body needs, do you tell them to stop taking the thyroxine?
You are looking at the brain as if it's a magical organ, simply because it produces the conscious experience of "you". If it's given the chemicals it needs to function properly, your life will improve, because your attitude, which is just the internal state of your brain, will improve. When your brainstate is improved, it produces options and choices it never produced before. Those options create a better future.
When you are in pain, let's say you have terrible back pain, it makes it almost impossible to think about anything beyond the most basic things... get up, get food, go to the bathroom, walk from A to B.....
The circuitous path you are talking about is the one you are presently on. You can't move past it because the organ (your brain) which you need to move past it with, can't see past its pain... just like when your back hurts, it's like a wall of pain in your mind...
You can talk forever about whether or not being tormented is a good fuel source for this or that etc etc. I'm not telling you to do one thing or another.
What I'm saying is when you've had enough of enduring internal torment and pain, you will then seek help. Until then, you will try to think and rationalize you're way out of it... because the thing with which you are communicating with me atm (your brain), is not functioning properly.
And it is obvious to anyone reading your thoughts that it is so. The reaon it isn't obvious to you, is because the tool with which you would make such an assessment with is actually the one that's not functioning normally...
Have you ever listened to an alcoholic or a drug addict describe, some in great detail, how they don't have a "problem"?... That's how you sound.
-

If you asked them whether they were a heaven drinker and they said yes, would you tell then to take a medication or to stop drinking?
If someone's thyroid isn't working properly, and thyroxine gives them the amount their body needs, do you tell them to stop taking the thyroxine?
Suppose they're taking an iodine-rich heart medicine, wouldn't it be best to see whether they have a horrible diet beneath their arythmia?

I don't think the brain is magical at all. What seems more like magic is a label of "correct" level of brain chemicals.

Everyone moves between circuits. Everyone has a routine after all. I worry that when "my pain" goes away I will be content with a position in society that I should be "grateful" for, but is actually beneath what I could achieve if I followed my instincts.
If you gave a coal worker regular morphine injections, for example, perhaps he would be more grateful going to the mine. If not, perhaps he would be pushed over the edge, run away... Maybe find an education, get a better job, or die.
He is taking a greater immediate risk, but is death worse than the drugged life that otherwise awaits?

Is "normal" reasoning better than "abnormal" reasoning? As you've pointed out, an abnormal mind doesn't have the same values as a normal mind. But the reverse is true as well. You are rationalizing (i.e. providing reasons for) your position to at least the same degree as me, so far.
Neither of us is telling the other how to think, but i'll ask again: when you were in my position (if you were) did you also doubt whether quashing your suffering with a drug was the right choice?
Have you ever listened to an alcoholic or a drug addict describe, some in great detail, how they don't have a "problem"?... That's how you sound.
No, I haven't. But I have listened to countless office workers (I worked in an office for 5 years, by the way) describe, in great detail, what seemed to me patently absurd reasons to continue what I saw as a degrading existence. I imagine you could find many parallels between their stories and those of drug addicts, with little imagination.
For example: everyone admits that suffering is universal. And the simplest explanation for the near universal reliance on stimulant drugs (caffeine, nicotine, sugar, etc.) in the work force, if not that it makes more bearable and perpetustes a self-destructive mode of existence?
No doubt many will scoff at the comparison of these drugs to alcoholism... which to my "abnormal" way of thinking only completes the analogy between the "normal" citizen and degenerate drug addict.

GetBig - A Haiku
Frigid Christmastime
suddenly warm GetBig pumps
beyond the muscles
Reviews
"The juxtaposition of GetBig and muscles is truly inspired."
- The Daily Tale
"I don't like short poems. So why am I reviewing a haiku, you may wonder? Well, I liked the title - 'GetBig'. It went down hill from there."
- Enid Kibbler
"Amazing how so few words can set a scene so perfectly. I close my eyes and all I can see is the frigid christmastime."
- Hit the Spoof
"I felt that I was a GetBigger. It was spooky. I hope to read more by Taffin. Perhaps next time, something longer."
- Zob Gloop
"I've always wanted to write a haiku about GetBig. I can't belive Taffin has beaten me to it."
- Betty Borison
"Frigid christmastime is a popular first line for a haiku. It's incredible how much diversity can be achieved with those final lines."
