1994. Yes his one bicep looks like hell, but he still nailed his poses so dominately
-
His physique always had a hard dense quality to it. Today's guys look soft and bloated. I think it's the difference between lifting heavy weights and pumping up with light weights.

Looked better off season

Those were the days when you would just watch in silence, shake your head, and whisper, "Damn."

Those were the days when you would just watch in silence, shake your head, and whisper, "Damn."
One of those days was at the 1990 Night of Champions at the Beacon Theatre.
I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan there in December of 1983, when he was touring nationally for Texas Flood.
Anyway…
I was there at the 1990 NOC, and Dorian looked a bit green, but mostly awesome.
I went to the Olympia that year and was happy that Lee didn’t face that Dorian.

I was there that day
And Dorian just had to be seen in person to fully grasp just how huge he was
Though he looks Big on the video it just doesn’t do him justice.
His overall size never truly comes across on video or pics.

I'm not sure if this has been shown here already. If yes, I apologize but i just ran across it.
You might like this video from 1997 Guest posing in N.E. Championship @310 lbs. Here he even looks huge on video like no other. lol
Props to bios! Awesome footage, of course the video quality is nothing like nowadays but it doesn't matter its so cool.

True. That type of physique. That hard, compact, dense look doesn't translate as well in pictures as that inflated balloon look. That's the crux with the Coleman/Dorain comparison. Coleman translated better in pictures which is how the majority of people see him. I never saw either in person but I did know someone who has seen both in their prime and he thought Dorian was more impressive in person. He said Coleman's muscle were huge but they kind of "hanged" on him. Dorian muscles looked like pure granite pieced in place.
Not taking anything away from Ronnie and he was on a different level but I much prefered Dorian's look. That carved from stone look.

That short scene where he turns around and is still standing relaxed. Jeezus Christ. That back and those calves.
Like I said, just silence, shaking your head, and whispering "Damn."

There was a photo someone posted on here of Dorian from the 1991 NOC, taken from right at the front of the stage and it showed how ridiculously hard he was.
People say he should have lost to some guys like Nasser blah blah, i've seen videos of the 1996 Post Olympia Grand Prix's, even if anyone is even with him or slightly ahead from the front, he is so far ahead of all of them from the back the shows over.

Some of his workout videos show just how huge and dense he really was. Much easier to see than him alone on stage.
-
Ive been on the New England stage 5-6 times or so and never got that kind of reception. ???
LOL :)

This and also the difference between putting in a decade or two of lifting before hitting the Olympia stage VS today's fuckheads who are full of oil and insulin and only have 4-5 years of lifting experience before even turning pro!!

I visited his gym back in the day late 80’s early 90’s
When he still had his original equipment as seen in blood & guts video.

I’ve seen them both at their peak & Ronnie has a prettier rounder type physique
Personally I’d say Dorian was Better - He could of easily come in 10/20lb heavier
& still been the best conditioned man on stage !!!
Though I have to mention from the front in a lineup when at his best
Paul Dillett was un-Real - standing semi relaxed front on He was the
Best ever. Freaky.

On my first day at Gold's Venice in the early 90s Dillet was the first pro I ever saw in person. My jaw just dropped. Seeing this guy in person standing just a few feet away is something I'll never forget.

Ronnie pretty? Are you gay? And Ronnie was not aesthetic. Imo Dorian had a better structure and was more well balanced. Ronnie was very impressive from some angles but the shape of his legs was not ideal. His calves did not have good shape and his quads had a turnip appearance. Dorian at his best has a more herculean appearance compared to Ronnie at his best. And bigger is not better. Ronnie was not at his best when he was at his most massive. Neither was Dorian.
-
Dorian looked way better but Ronnie was an even more extreme freak.

You are always so modest! 8)

Arnold looked better than all of them.
