Whoa... I remember that dude.  Came on the scene and then vanished.  Was one of those "where are they now" type characters. 

Used to see him around town are few times in Atlanta when I was in university.  Never interacted with him.  Never saw him interacting with any of the other pros there either.  Freeman, Shabazz, Rowe, Curly Top, etc..

He was on CNN recently talking about fitness and sharing tips on how to be "healthy".

A juiced up bodybuilder promoting "fitness" on TV..... and he croaks at 58  ::) ::) ::) ::)

Daryl Dragon is also gone from renal failure.  If this Daryl Stafford was a typical bodybuilder then perhaps he went out the same way as did Dragon albeit Dragon was 76.

Oooo…Struck down by a congenital heart condition!  Whodathunk?

To be honest, I never understood how he turned pro.  His legs were really weak.  Chest wasn't very good either.    I remember people saying he was supposed to be the next generation's version of JJ Marsh.  What a crock of shit.  Not on his best day.

Heard a lot of stories about why he flamed out so fast too.  No idea if there was any truth behind any of them.

i remember when daryll won his pro card, some compared him to flex wheeler daryll had a short career if i remember right, came around in the wrong era with the structure he had

Remember Daryl Stafford well.  He was a shooting star and had his 5 minutes of fame in all the bodybuilding mags.  Good physique and seemed like a good guy.  PIP

He trained at Gold's in Sunrise Florida for a while in the mid-80s. He had a damn good physique.

Physique wise he fell into the Ray McNeil category.  Good enough to turn pro, but not good enough to ever be any real kind of threat to any shows he entered.

Looked pretty damn good. Wide clavicles, narrow waist etc. Better than most top pros today. RIP.
