I wonder what the Black white ratios are for these places.

Blacks and Hispanics, because of their absence in these areas, deserve much of the credit for them being so nice.👍

Most are cities with a big university.
So the majority of the population is educated and white.
I'm baffled that Flint isn't on the list

Bellevue, lol... I guess if you're rich, Chinese, and enjoy buoying the companies that forced you out of your homeland in the first place.

Why would anyone live in a place where you freeze your balls off for half the year?
My choice is San Diego...

This socialist shit bag is trying to turn our city into another LA/Venice Beach or San Francisco. Residents are livid. We’re already getting almost overran by homeless due to liberal policies

I agree, except you have to deal with the libtards. Still much better than LA though. I lived there for 10 years, it felt like I was on vacation everyday. Cost of living is high, especially if you are closer to the coast.

Fixed. ;D
"St. Louis has a significantly higher homicide rate than the rest of the U.S. for both whites and blacks and a higher proportion committed by males. As of October 2016, 7 of the homicide suspects were white, 95 black, 0 Hispanic, 0 Asian and only 1 female out of the 102 suspects. In 2016, St. Louis was the most dangerous city in the United States with populations of 100,000 or more, ranking 1st in violent crime and 2nd in property crime."

I hope you like snakes Coach. Especially brown tree snakes.
“We are face to face with Guam's "nemesis": the brown tree snake. And the forests here are dripping with them.
The US territory, in the western Pacific, is only 50km (30 miles) long and 10km wide, but it is packed with two million snakes.”

I noticed that too.
I don't know enough about other States to comment on their cities mentioned, but regarding NE and WI; no one outside of the city each had listed would say that's the best city in either state.
Lincoln is pretty much landlocked. It has "recreational trails" listed as a highlight. Sure, if your idea of recreational trails is a fucking long-ass paved sidewalk through the city and suburbs. Lincoln is a shit-hole overrun by drunk college kids that gets invaded by the rest of the state every Saturday there's a football game at the stadium.
As far as you comment about the population being mostly white. Kinda true, but illegals in surrounding farming and meat packing don't get counted nor do all of the black athletes, foreign students, and out of state minority students who attend the school. Per capita, if those things were counted, Lincoln would be the most diverse city in that state by far. Same goes for Madison, WI.
I think most learned in elementary U.S. geography were taught to remember MI is shaped more like a left mitten, and WI more like if you traced the outside of a glove.
If you ask most people that have been to or live in WI the best place, the answer will be some place that is at or close to if you traced from your top left index finger down to your thumb, up and over it, and then back down to your wrist. Most other lists concur; listing White Fish Bay, Sturgeon Bay, Shorewood, Appleton, etc.

Why would anyone live in a place where you freeze your balls off for half the year?
My choice is San Diego...
I've heard San Diego is great. I've also heard it's super expensive and becoming even more so.
The answer to your question is low costs of housing and living, tons of recreation, good sense of community (everyone deals with that shit together every year), low crime, and changing seasons for activities that are varied as well as new scenery every 3-4 months. My knowledge is limited I admit, but from what I've read and seen on TV of San Diego, you only have the recreation part it seems.
My question back to you, is why would anyone want to live in a place where the seasons consist of rain and sunny with drought? I guess you could include earthquake, mudslide, and wild fires as seasons so there's that. :P
When reading the criteria, I though it would be a better list if Demographics was left out. To me it's racist to include that. It should be if you removed color and ethnicity; what places then have the best economy, affordable housing, best food choices, most recreational activities for all age groups, lowest taxes, low crime, well managed budget, personal freedom/tolerance, etc.? To me those should be ranked highest as if you have all of that people from all walks will eventually come there.
I looked closer at their definitions of categories though, and Demographics is fine. "Social and Civic Capital" needs to go though. Other than crime, even the site admits it's hard to measure. Their measures are either subjective and/or require a person to honestly answer (whether they voted) or decide if they want to answer (volunteering). A lot of people either lie and say they do one/both, or want to keep those things private.

That’s just a function of demographics. There are no Hispanics in St. Louis. The whites who didn’t get out of St.Louis when it went black are surely nasty white trash.
St Louis Demographics
* African American: 49.2%
* White: 43.9% (non-Hispanic: 42.2%)
* Asian: 2.9%
* Native American and Alaska Native: 0.3%
* Two or more races: 2.4%
* Hispanic or Latino of any race: 3.5%
This is how it looks on a national level:
Homicide rates by race. (per 100,000 population):
https://www.acsh.org/news/2017/08/10/african-american-homicide-rate-nearly-quadruple-national-average-11680
20.9 for blacks (non-Hispanic)
4.9 for Hispanics
2.6 for whites (non-Hispanic)

Obviously there're a few Hispanics there. They're just not homicidal, or didn't get caught, but I see what you're saying about demographics.

better to be cold than lose or evacuate your home because of a hurricane, earthquake, mudslide, or wildfire
it's funny to me how most people want to live by the beach, considering most people look like shit in a swim suit

I lived there 20 years and an occasional mild shaking/earthquake is all I experienced. 99.9% of the population experience nothing more than an occasional mild earthquake. You take NBC news to seriously.
-
Palo Alto? If you’re trying to live next to Silicon Valley’s richest and sit in traffic
Santa Cruz Is a decent place to live (away from the trashy boardwalk) but another city affected by Bay Area tech overcrowding and inflation
San Diego is probably the the best OVERALL spot in CA for weather, things to do, cost (not great), food (great)
-
Great town and state. I may move there in a few years.
you will not regret it.
it is 78 sunny, there is a pro golf event here this week, cars shows last week, spring training next week, tons of gyms, golf, guns, mountains, fine dining, hot women, semi affordable living, close to cali, vegas and the mountains of az.
every year i take a week trip to cali - rent a place on the beach and get my "cali" living without living there
i drive to vegas 1-2x a year have a blast
go to cabo san lucas mexico (quick 1.5 hour flight)
and scottsdale itself is awesome
yea...it hot from june to sept but that gives you a reason to go to the beach, go to the mountains etc
-
Like the demographics and it appears to be a city on the rise, but the Northern European side of me would melt in that heat. I start sweating at about 50F.🥵
