Based on that alone, I just ordered TWO of 'em! ;D
Seriously, it looks kinda cool but it's a variation on a theme and while there's nothing wrong with that I'm not certain what it really has to offer over other machines or standard barbells/dumbells and cables. Thanks to Al for putting it up for us to see!
-
Seen these before, but they didn't have the seat.

Proof that GH works....

You know what it's called? Tried googling "dual pulley chest station" and crap like that. Haven't gotten any hits.
I like the fact that the handles aren't fixed along any axis.
-
Excellent gear usage and receptors on the young man...
-
Can't decide between this or the George Foreman grill after my next payday.
-
Looks like a Free Motion Machine
-
The old cruise ship Norwegian Star has that machine, along with one similar to it for the back.
-
Surely Vince Basile must have a patent on this design.
-
Looks like a Free Motion Machine
functional training machine?

Holy Tren!

Thought so too, but freemotion is a brand and that's all that google shows...not this thing.
-
Every one wants to build a better mouse trap works the same as any other machine for the most part just designed different..
then the post how its 89% more effective, not saying its not good just status quo

I don't know. You have people who prefer dumbbell presses to barbell presses, not having anything to do with "innovative" designs, just a matter of personal preference. Personally, I always notice my upper chest working a lot on any machine chest exercise while sitting up and I like the idea of having to stabilize all of the axes on your own. No other machine does that, you can't really do replicate that with free weights, so I'd definitely be interested in trying this out if it was available near me.

bingo
-
It's actually a great machine for anyone with shoulder problems.
-
Seen and used this. There are variations for back and shoulders too.
It was in the female area of the gym so that should tell you all you need to know..
They would be good for injury rehab or maybe to work on mind muscle connection if that's your thing. Pretty useless for any non newb lifter
-
Seen and used those here in Swe.
-
Looks like a $6,000 piece of junk...
-
I was on vacation in San Diego last year and a relative took me to a huge golfing vacation spot for a couple of days. The gym had maybe 5 of those machines. I tried them all. I wasn't impressed with them. The handles slide up and down the cable to fit different size people.
-
;D
Can't decide between this or the George Foreman grill after my next payday.
-
What about a crazy expensive new machine that simulates doing a push-up
-

Ain't nothing free in this life brother.
-
It's so weird how before the two posters figured out the brand, no one had used that machine or seen it or knew what it was called. But then as soon as a link was posted, everyone in this thread used it and hated it.
-
That looks really cool, but it looks like the handles are fixed at the bottom pulleys which limits areas of the chest that can be hit.
It would be cooler if the handles could slide up and down and locked into different points between the top and bottom pulleys. (assuming it can't) You could hit everything if that was the case. Cool contraption either way. 8)
I've used some of this new stuff where parts of the machine move with your body. The only one I like so far is the seated leg curl.
-

I stated I had used this on cruise ships before. The last one I was on that had it was the NCL Star.

Brand of the machine is clearly visible at the video, you have to google "dual pulley chest station" and crap like that? It is always fun to see you guys doing your best with your very very low IQ ;D
-
I've used it several times. Hotel gym. Good to finish of chest workout.

Surely not as much fun as reading your beautifully crafted, completely coherent posts. ;)

It's amazing how many new contraptions are invented to do the same thing calisthenics and free weights do. How much better is this machine for your chest than pushups?
-
???
It's amazing how many new contraptions are invented to do the same thing calisthenics and free weights do. How much better is this machine for your chest than pushups?
??? Just by glancing at it you can see that the weight is variable. And the link to it posted above shows that it's designed to be multifunctional.
I've never used it, don't know if it's good or not, but this trend of pretending anything beyond a 5-minute jumping jacks session is a pointless workout has gotten pretty ridiculous.

I didn't say anything about jumping jacks. Do you believe that contraption can work a person's chest better than various different type of pushups?
-

The jumping jacks part was obvious sarcasm.
If the machine is made well (the price point and design suggests that it might be), then yes, it does offer advantages over push ups. Just the fact that you can vary the weight is an advantage. You can use it for a heavier main exercise or for a lighter, high rep closer.
I said earlier that I like seated chest exercises because I feel they work the upper chest more. There is no other machine I've seen with handles that aren't on fixed axes. It is a design advancement compared to what's out there.
-
the best chest movement i think i've ever found is this below. unfortunately no gym i've ever attended regularly has had one and i don't have enough space to justify one in my home gym.
the machine in the OP looks quite a similar movement

Dude, Women's Express has damn cable machines. WTF you talking about?

Your pecs activate both pushing out and pulling across. Push-ups miss the mark on the second part
It's not that it's necessarily better, it's that having both (or things similar) would allow for more complete training of the muscle.
-
Dude, Women's Express has damn cable machines. WTF you talking about?
Go join women's express then. with your physique they'll think you're a woman anyway.
I really couldn't give a fuck (notice, "couldn't ") how many gyms have them. No gym that i have been a member of has. And I'm not someone who is going to travel out of my way for some specific type of machine. As long as a gym has sufficient equipment that I can hit every body part with sufficient weight/resistance , that does the trick for me. I really not gonna obsess over whether or not I'm hitting a muscle from the "best angle" etc
In my home gym I have a grand total of 5 machines (all free weight loaded) a power rack, a bench and a small assortment of bars/dumbells and a stack of weight plates.
Very limited compared to any commercial gym. Yet on the occasion I do go to a gym these days I'm usually in better shape than 90%+ of the rest of the people there. Go figure...

You’re also on gear, so of course you’re going to be in better shape than 90% of people.
Being in better shape than a natural is not really an accomplishment when you’re on drugs.
Just sayin’.👍🏻👍🏻

i'm in better shape than 90% on gear in gyms too. most of them are either dbol bloated kids or older perma bulkers that aint seen their abs since the 90s
i've never taken large doses of gear. i'm probably not blessed with the best genetics for getting huge(and that's never been my goal). but i'm lucky that i'm a natural mesomorph with decent proportions. even as a kid before i'd even started weight lifting (let alone PEDs) and just played sports, i got positive comments re my physique.
not trying to blow my own trumpet....but i'd be in better in shape than 90% of naturals if i was training natural too.

Well not at the under equip third world shit hold gyms you seem to frequent.
Damn, point out you either have amazing luck at picking ill equipped gyms or you are just scared to go to a regular one and you have a little melt down. A sure sign of hitting someone's insecurity button is when they start making assumptions about you while not knowing a damn thing. Carry on bitch.

What assumptions did i make about you? That you have a woman's physique....hmmm obviously hit a nerve!
Anyway I do apologise for not frequenting gyms that meet your approval but oddly enough I choose a gym based on my own needs and convenience rather than worrying whether or not some dickless wonder off the internet will approve.
Crazy as that may sound

Never said I hated it, just very little benefit for someone who can lift even a very moderate amount of weight.

Good thing you don't frequent regular gyms. If you find a cable machine so fascinating you would be dazzled by that new razzle dazzle thing called a leg extension. Heaven forbid you lay eyes on a Hammer Strength piece. You would lapse into a coma.

i have a body solid leg extension/lying hamstring machine in my home gym so that wouldn't phase me lol
i don't find the cable cross machine "fascinating" i just found the cable cross chest fly (or whatever it's called) an excellent movement. best next day chest doms i think i've had from any chest exercise. loads of gyms i've been to have hammer strength (or variations of)
the cable cross thing takes up quite a bit of room, i guess that could be why the gyms i've been a member of don't have them. who knows....who cares even lol

I'm just struggling with whether I'm shocked by your criteria for "your needs", or being dumbfounded that you live in an area where not 1 gym you had to choose from had a cable crossover set-up of some sort. ::)
In 25+ years of working out, and working at gyms; the only places I've ever been in that didn't were my middle school and high school weight rooms. It's just so standard. Most gym layouts are either built away from, or around at least one multi-station with a crossover section.
I'm not challenging you that you can put a great home gym together without one, and get good results though.
-

i didn't say not 1 gym in my area has one. i know one that definitely does, as i've used it but it's a very expensive health club type of place that i go to occasionally with a friend who is a member. but even if i needed a gym membership (which i don't) i wouldn't join it as it's probably around £130+ per month.
also most of the gyms i have been a member of are not been built around a multi station either. i would love one in my home gym (cable cross) but i don't really have space and tbh i have enough equipment already that i can hit every body part quite sufficiently.
i have a leg extension/hamstring machine, a lat pull down cable machine(free weight load) which you can do tricep push downs/bicep curls/seated rows etc . a hyper extension bench (excellent movement for lower back) a machine that you can use for shoulder/chest press from decline to incline/also bent over rows.
a bicep/tricep preacher curl type machine and a hack squat/leg press/calf raise machine. all body solid machines free weight loaders.
on top of that i have a power rack (cage that has spotter/catcher bars can be used for various free weight exercises, bench press/squat/rack pulls, pull ups, dips and a ton more. and i have a bench, dumbells and a various barbells.....and a treadmill
so i really have all i need tbh.
ps also i'm not talking about a "cable cross set up of some sort"....i'm talking about the type that has 2 posts that are a good distance apart that you can use for the cable fly exercise. the things with like one post and cables for various exercises i think i have seen more commonly

LOL with my last couple of posts I was thinking to myself "damn, I'm really going hard for this glorified soloflex. I wonder when somebody's gonna call me out" ;D
So you've actually seen it and used it... then I guess my little snide remark should not include you, but it was all too predictable that as soon as someone figured out the name of that machine and linked to it, the getbig peanut gallery started chiming in with their experiences.
As for the it being in the ladies' part of the gym, I will just present to you as exhibit a the opening post: a very muscular professional bodybuilder using it. Considering that the machine intentionally markets itself to a more refined demographic, it almost certainly was not stealth marketing. I'm not claiming he built his physique with that machine, but yes, of course, it must have some value for people at an advanced level of fitness.

It is. I've seen only ones that are attached either up or down. With adjustable height setting just like in basic crossover cable has.

If you use the machine you will look like him after 30 days.
Where can I find that machine? ;D

Based on that alone, I just ordered TWO of 'em! ;D
Hah yeah, one for each pec.
