two movies that flew under the radar in their time but worth a watch.

Lookout is a good show. Haven't seen the other but Keanu action pieces are generally solid (no homo).
-
Knock Knock is awesome! All Eli Roth movies are excellent.
-
Will check these out, Funk.

Is Knock Knock on any streaming services?
-
another hidden gem worth a look.
-
Keep this thread going.
Specifically movies on Netflix would be helpful. Keep me from hours of scrolling on there to find a B movie that sucks
-
Genre on Knock Knock and the Lookout?
Action?
Thriller?
Drama?
-
Thanks, ya'll! I was looking for some good movies to watch and will watch The Lookout and Knock Knock today, with the other recommendations later this week as it is 111 degrees today outside.
Here are two good flicks that I recommend ... Not sure about them being 'GEMS' though.
GOON .... A tough hockey player.
STARK RAVING MAD ... A bank robbery by a team of fools.
Both with Seann William Scott whom I personally think is one of the best but unappreciated actors in Hollywood today.
-
Lookout I liked when I watched it years ago.
Knock, Knock entertaining enough to watch.
-
another movie worth a view :)
RIP Big Al -

A funny bit of trivia, the guy who played Popeye is a Shakespearean trained actor, who got the part on a whim -

I rarely find a good movie on Netflix, luckily it’s free.
-
Ridley Scott, Rob Zombie, David Fincher my favorite Directors.

.
This just popped into my head for some reason. It's a good film you don't hear about much. Harvey Keitel as the son of a mid level mobster, who must decide about going into the family business or chasing more artsy endeavors. Reminded me a lot of "Mean Streets".
Also Spike Lee's third best film, "Clockers" might still be on Netflix, worth a watch if you've never seen it.
-
FUNK, I just ordered THE LOOKOUT for $4.99 (including postage) from
EBay.
I thik Levitt is one of the best actors within the movie biz so I ordered it.
And I was very impressed by Seann William Scott in GOON as well as STARK RAVING MAD.
And I can't figure out why Hollywood doesn't cast him more often in major motion pictures.
-
another decent movie if you like this genre.

Hate that fucking guy from The Office.
That's his real-life wife.
Sequel delayed by Corona.
I believe it was supposed to come out this month.

We Are What We Are was good. Didn't expect to see a family into cannibalism.

Netflix?

ZeroZeroZero on Amazon Prime is a great limited series about the global drug trade (top to bottom). One of my top series for 2020, it was made by the same folks behind Gomorrah, the hit Italian mafia series.
It's on Amazon Prime's streaming service, and I think on HBO, and Sky elsewhere, so maybe give it a shot :).

Knock Knock was a remake of this:

The invisible guest on Netflix, it’s in Spanish but worth your time, a who done it, thriller with twisted ending
-
Knock Knock was a remake of this:
Thanks for posting this. I didn't know Knock Knock was a remake of this film. The entire Death Game movie is on Youtube to view. Can't get that stupid intro music "My good old dad" out of my head. ;D

Savior,wild things

I watched "Lucky Number Sleven" recently, and was blown away. I never even heard of it when it originally came out, and I think it definitely flew under the radar.

Not a chance in hell that I’d put any money in Spike Lee’s pocket.
Not going to happen.

Watched "Knock Knock" with Keanu Reeves due to this Thread and it made me depressed.
Just can't believe he gave two small women that much control.
Not that credible. If the man was smaller (Harry Potter-actor or Elijah Wood) and the women bigger (Leslie Jones etc) it might have been more realistic.
Now it was just a waste of time.
So many stupid unrealistic situations.

That fucking dumb broad is dating Ben Affleck. ::)
And to think I thought she was so hot in Blade Runner 2049.
Haven't seen Knock Knock.

I'd love to smack that wig wearing punk into another time zone. >:(
Still, it is a good score.
Far better looking that his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, or any other skank I can remember him dating.
Just a dumb girl.

She shows her boobs in the movie The Night Clerk, nothing earth shattering.
Definitely not nearly as pretty as a younger Jennifer Garner.

She's done a lot of nude scenes.
But I can't agree on your take.
Like the whole overall package.
Jennifer Garner does nothing for me.
Never did.
She looks like a large mouth bass.

Well.....being female, she doesn’t “do anything” for me either. 😁
But Jennifer Garner is certainly not ugly and she keeps herself in good shape.

And the hot brunette was married to the director Eli Roth. They are divorced now so she's available. :D

Knock Knock was horrible. Watched it based on your recommendation. Sorry but I do not enjoy seeing a male like Keanu Reeves emasculated. Really pathetic.

Wasn't realistic either.
If the guy was a smaller guy maybe, but Keanu was so much bigger than the two girls. Not credible.

I don't understand the hate for that movie. Two gorgeous evil girls getting naked and torturing a guy. They were cute and funny as they enacted their sadistic desires like when Izzo tells de Armas to fuck him doggy style and she barks like a dog. ;D
Keanu Reeves emasculated himself when he started fucking that tranny.
-
Really liked THE FOREIGNER (Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan) on Netflix. IMO it's Jacki's best movie.

I couldn't agree more with you about Seann William Scott. I'll have to check out Stark Raving Mad. Jason Bateman is probably my favorite actor going these days. Check out The Promotion if you haven't seen it. Seann William Scott and John C. Reilly. Fred Armison is pretty good in it too.

I am a fan of older films and perhaps Stunt and Wes would know some of them. "Love Crazy" and "I Love You Again" are two excellent romantic comedies starring William Powell and Myrna Loy (of "Thin Man" fame!). Myrna Loy and Cary Grant along with a very beautiful young Shirley Temple in the excellent comedy, "The Bachelor and The Bobby-Soxer".
All the movies in the "Thin Man" series are quite good too.
Yup. I am old. ;D
I also enjoy The 3Stooges. Mostly Moe, Larry and Curly but Shemp is okay too. Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis films are fun as are Bob Hope and Bing Crosby comedies. I am big on musicals like "Brigadoon", "Oklahoma!", "South Pacific" and more. And I really enjoy "Broadway Melody of 1940". As Sinatra said in the opening of "That's Entertainment" as beautiful Eleanor Powell and Fred Astaire performed a flawless number to "Begin The Beguine", "You know, you can wait around and hope, but I tell you, you'll never see the likes of this again."
Indeed.

I just don't find it to be credible that those two tiny girls overpowered John Wick so easily.
Suspension of disbelief.
I can buy/accept that there are Spaceships that go zoom in space (Star Wars etc) because that's how it is in that Franchises logic and physics and everyone has accepted it by now, but Knock Knock is supposed to be somewhat of a realistic movie.

It’s a garbage movie, Keanu’s acting was comical, only good thing about that movie is the two hot girls
Want some good weird twisted movies, check out sleep tight, Spanish movie, the baby, early 70’s, invisible guest, another Spanish

Here another one, "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man".

It's actually a remake of movie made in 1977.
Interesting, i did not know that.
So this is the original:
It reminds me of "Funny Games U.S." which is also a remake.
-
Death Game is fun as well. Clint Eastwood's old girlfriend is one of the psycho chicks in the film. Love the ending.
-

Honestly, I didn't really know it either. I looked up the movie on RT after I watched it to see if the critics and audiences thought it was as bad as I did and I saw it there.
Turns out they did.
-
watch it on https://losmovies.live/free-movie-online/tt19776/watch-online-strange-days
-
just watched this one last night. Russell Crowe really bulked up for this role.

I watched a lot of old film noir during the lock down, these were some of the best little known ones (links should open to full movies).
1) Ride the Pink Horse -
https://archive.org/details/1947ridethepinkhorsepersecucionenlanocherobertmontgomery .
Disgruntled war vet travels to rural New Mexico to avenge an old war buddy, and make some scratch by blackmailing the local mob boss. Things go awry when the mobster proves tougher than he seems, and a young senorita falls for him.
2) Crashout -
https://archive.org/details/crashout-1955 .
Six convicts hide in the desert till the coast is clear to make their escape.
Once the coast is clear they roam the southwest, by train, foot, and stolen car hoping to get a piece of some old bank loot one of the convict's has hidden. Along the way they kill police, citizens, hole up with a family they've taken hostage, and double cross each other.
3) Border Incident -
.
A pair of border agents go undercover as a poor migrant and a white overseer looking to stop an illegal worker scam that has been killing off border jumpers, sometimes in very brutal ways.
Suddenly -
.
Frank Sinatra stars as the ring leader of a small group of mobsters paid to kill a very important person coming in by train. To do this they must first find out a way to hide out in a small town for a few hours without being seen by the cops, etc....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first 3 are very dark films for their time, and still stand up well today. The first one especially is a very fine bit of desert noir. The Sinatra one is ok, mainly based on his performance, but a fun quick watch at just over an hour.
-
Just remembered this came up in my feed a few months ago -
.
Mise a sec is based on the old Richard Stark (Don Westlake) series of Parker novels that were popular here in the US. Georges (the French version of Parker) is tasked with lead an experienced crew of safe crackers and hold up men in robbing the pay roll and stores of a small mining town. The film covers the planning, actual caper, and the various double crosses that happen. It's a bit rushed at the end, but they do a great job with the robbery set up and pay off.
It was a a forgotten film in the US and much of the rest or the world due to a squabble over distribution rights, so it's nice to see it in any form.

Just watched "Disrupted" on Prime...2022.......not bad at all as far as flicks go today.
Kind of the old revenge plot, but some great violent scenes.......great way to kill time.
Turn off your brain and enjoy.
