Title: Older Gym Pics
Post by: Powerlift66 on March 07, 2019, 12:42:44 PM
I moved my gym to the garage stall next door (my old band room) I put down stall mats, and got rid of a few things (still very stocked) but I found a few older pics from 5-10 years ago.

SF, I tried to buy that patented machine for 1 million. Vince said he wont take any less than 2 million, so I had to pass on it.
Sometimes we all miss out in life.  :P

Great home gym!  Working out at home is the best way to go.  Just purchase Vince's bicep machine now and you'll have the perfect setup.

Most bodybuilders, powerlifters or anyone else today could climb those ropes in the old gyms.

Kraiburg 25kg/55lb bumper plates. Kraiburg for a number of years was bumper plate subcontractor for a lot of firms - York, etc.... Their bread and butter plates were the extra thick type. For whatever reason, the 55 pound models are about double thickness. Fun plates, you can stack them and use them for step ups, as a seat, etc..... Also good if you don't have a full set of bumpers, but a lot of olympic plates and want to try the olympic lifts. You can use iron 25s, 35s, and some 45s, and not worry about damaging the bar.

55lbs bumper plates. I use to do some olympic lifts as part of my general training. You can drop them from over head and not damage the floor.  I have the 55lbs and the 35lbs bumpers. Using smaller conventional plates like the 25lbs, 10lbs and the rest I can put more weight on the bar than I can lift over head. I do power cleans. Now my aging body screams in shoulder and elbow pain trying to rack the weight. Snatches don't bother me but I don't enjoy them as much as power cleans.

Please don't refer to snatches as it's disrespectful towards women.

Oldtimer another decent home gym setup
Looks like you’ve got plenty of space available.

The rubber bumper plates are very useful.
Though there’s something special about the clanging of the old iron plates on a bar.

I have more iron plates than I can lift.  It's hard to tell because the basement has two sides but it's about 1400 sq foot. When I had all my equipment in my previous house that had a one car garage it looked impressive because all the crap was all together. Everything is spread out now. I'm seriously considering soon giving up the big house since I retired and moving to a small retirement house to save money.  Then I will only have minimal equipment and I will do the majority of training in a commercial gym. Truth be told one can get everything out of this game naturally with minimal equipment.  Do you really need to do four bicep movements in a workout?  I'm almost envious of guys that have something like Ironmaster or power blocks with a bench with dipping/chin bar.  They have everything they truly need in the space of a postage stamp. I will enjoy the gym while it lasts. Thinking about adding a spider curl bench.
