Calves wider than quads.

Great calves still!  Wish I had your small joint genetics.

I don't know what your legs used to look like when you were younger.....they still are good, but you can see some hints of old man leg atrophy compared to your upper body.  BFD though.  You're killing it at 54!

Keep grinding away, and good luck with the rest of your prep! 8)

Calves wider than quads.

They are being presses against what appears to be a sissy squat apparatus. Would like to see a legit calf shot before assessing.

The getbig eye eventually catches everything. LOL.

I'm wearing my glasses, and I didn't even notice that.  You can tell they're still good at least though, and his conditioning is damn good for 6.5 weeks

the trick is to find a way to bring that sissy squat apparatus on stage.

No insult intended. Quads look good. Condition seems to be ahead of schedule.

No insult is taken. I thought it was fairly obvious. I wish my calves looked like that lol

It’s only 125kg (275) at this point it doesn’t make sense to go much heavier

Sure, I’m at 6 weeks out. As my BF and weight drop so will the weight I use to avoid injury. Weight is much heavier In the off-season.

I also think a lot pre contest training injuries happen because of the use of gear with some steroids taking collagen from the tendons. Not sure if many trainers or just competitors in general take this into consideration

2 questions for you based on that vid, and this response you posted here...

1) While I haven't trained heavy on anything for years, I'm working on it; and as I watch you squat that 275 (which is amazing at 54 btw) I wonder if you are like me in that you despise the rubber coated plates trend these days?  I really miss the sound of plates rattling, and dumbbells clanking in the gym these days.  Such a different vibe in big gyms now since they've transitioned to those IMO.

2) What steroids specifically do you feel have this negative affect you mention here?  I don't know if I'll ever use beyond TRT, but having suffered a torn bicep and a partial ACL tear I'd like to know what to avoid if I do.

Coach do you have strong opinions on the Smith machine for squatting?

I've been using it lately because I feel like it works my quads a lot more than free-weight squats.

At Golds they a few individual racks but are usually hard to get. In the first room though they have a wall of the erector-type racks with the bumpers. I don’t mind them. As for the second question, I would say the more higher anabolics such as Tren, masteron, winny and I’m sure Halo. Off season gear, not so much to worry about in my opinion if you train smart

I’ll front squat with a smith and use a variety of squat machines in a weekly rotation. But IMO nothing beats the regular squat. I still like the regular squats just for the stabilization and the recruitment of more muscle

The only thing I'm really interested in doing again is Var.....maybe some dbol again.  Other than the 2.5mg ones I tried in the early 90's (which was less than 50 tabs), I don't knonw that the var I used was really var.  Winny didn't do much for me, and from what I've read it is one of the worst for tendon tears.

Anadrol is the fucking bomb, but I get too strong with it.  That worries me at my age, and having had a severe injury already.  Ego gets big too, and training smart might would likely go out the window.  Also, my RBC is already on the high side just doing TRT.  I can only imagine how high it was back in the day when I would take 500-700mgs of test E/wk w/25-50mgs of Syntex A-50's.  I used to get nosebleeds daily while on that....even the BD's in later years.

I guess I am interested in trying this magical tren stuff, but there is no legit source for tren is there?  What I mean by that is it's all black market and UG, is it not?  Can a person get it from an HRT clinic via telemed? I've never checked, so  ???

BTW, check your pm's please.

Wild guess: You wear a flat bottom shoes instead of weight lifting shoes? Flat shoes = gluteus do most of the work, lifting shoes = thighs do most of the work. Easy choice to make, if you need more size for the thighs  ;D

One of the Tom Platz most widely known secrets was the fact, that he understood dynamics of squat, and by that he was using weight lifting shoes while doing them. If you use flat bottom shoes/socks/barefoot etc. you can lift more weight, because the strongest muscle in your body, gluteus, make great part of the work. You don't need a bigger ass, most of us need bigger thighs, so if you lift your heel with correct shoes, you are moving stress from the gluteus to the thighs. Why people doesn't realize this? Because of broscience, which tells you that more weight is always best way to go, so you should always use the form which allows you to use largest weights. That is pure bullshit, because more weight = more muscle groups involved = less stress to the target muscle. It works if you are using pro level drugs, because at that level anything works, but as natural/moderate juicer, it just isn't a same thing.

I used to train at golds in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, that and powerhouse chatsworth which is now a crunch fitness, do you know why golds changed the weights to the rubber plates and dumbbells? There was nothing wrong with the plates and ivanko weights they were using
