I dont even know what to think anymore. Sports are corrupted to their core.

Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, the man known to "Game of Thrones" fans as "The Mountain" and the reigning World's Strongest Man, says he is willing to do whatever is necessary to win -- including taking steroids.
Say it ain't so!!!

Ground breaking journalism right there. Why doesn't ESPN ask this of every NFL football player they interview?
The answer is as shocking as a 440lb WSM admitting to juice........money.
NFL pays the bills so no tough questions are ever asked. In fact, Al Jazeera had Peyton "the forehead" Manning and Gay Matthews nailed for PED's and ESPN dropped the story as the NFL suspended one player no one knew of, and proceeded to look the other way after.
I don't understand why he admitted to this though? He put a big target on his back when he defends his title, and it's not going to help his hollywood career....assuming there is one past that show anyway ???
-
OMG no way! lol

The Peyton Manning story isnt exactly apples to apples here. The dude was trying to recover from nerve damage so he could have a normal life. There was a point where many thought his nfl career was over and his arm strength was never the same.
Plus the alleged shipments were to Peytons wife, and on top of everything the guy that supplied the info was less than credible .
That said Thor probably isnt worried about breaking Icelandic laws nor the testing in WSM. Hes a champion.

SF1900 i'm so sorry you had to find this out here, from me of all people. I know how you and Rory love WSM and how these televised competitions of pure unadulterated strength have bonded your relationship.
I actually cried when reading Thors admission, it was actually the hardest I cried since Lance Armstrong came out about his usage during the Tour De France.
Let Rory know i'm thinking of you two during this hard time.

Rory was very disappointed to rea this.
His world was shattered. Everything he held as truth is thrown into question.

Please tell me you don't actually believe that he wasn't taking stuff before that? I can't stand the guy (except he was funny on SNL), but I will admit that I've never seen anyone more obsessed with doing whatever it took to be good. I just can't imagine with that cranium of his that that injury was the first time he used peds of some sort.

Lol all these guys do whatever it takes. Kobe went to Germany to get the platelet treatments that were not approved in the states. Tom Brady is eating avocado ice cream and Lebron is using the versa climber.
Sports = money and if you're going to be the best at your sport the sky is the limit on your income. I dont fault these guys but the media likes to create narratives.
Look at Tigers victory today, who really knows what he had to do to compete, the guy had a pain pill addiction before his real decline, but winning in sports cures all.
Also Im a big P.Manning fanboy so theres that.

Agree, and all true. If you ain't cheatin you ain't tryin in today's high paid pro sports.....and you probably won't be around long either.
As for the last part, at least you're honest! Was kinda obvious though ;D

Can't help feeling that the journalist has read one of Matt C's posts on GetBig at some point:
"Bjornsson admits all the roles he juggles in his life -- athlete, actor, pitchman, father -- have put a strain on him, and his family says they fear for his health*." :D
Matt - you should've copyrighted that phrase man... ;D

These deadlifts at the Arnold were insane. Platform was a bit unstable so some got hurt.
Thor 1045 then attempted over 1100

Strapped deadlifts.
Q: How high does your blood pressure have to go to make blood come out of your skin?

And all this time I assumed he got that size just using compound lifting and grass fed beef.

Strapped deadlifts.
Q: How high does your blood pressure have to go to make blood come out of your skin?
I was wondering about that when I commented over in the Jay Masters thread - I'd seen him bleeding from the skin (on his head) following a heavy bench (can't remember if it was a single). A quick Google led me to this:
"A study published by doctors in NCBI NLM recorded a maximum blood pressure of 370/360 mm Hg. This study was performed by recording blood pressure in 10 male athletes through radial artery catheterization. Each athlete, as a part of this study, performed double-leg press sets at 85% and 100% of maximum capacity. Athletes were required to perform the given exercise twice; once with a closed glottis Valsalva (a forceful attempted exhalation against the closed airway), and then with slow exhalations during concentric contraction. Although this study provides recorded evidence of the highest blood pressure, this was specifically performed on athletes after extremely stressful physical exercise with forceful breathing. Moreover, this measurement was momentary, i.e., the blood pressure immediately after a heavy weight lift with a forceful Valsalva.
Under normal circumstances (presumably a BP patient not doing heavy exercise), blood pressure approaching 300 is very dangerous. In fact, it is very rare to have any recorded history of 300+ mm Hg of blood pressure. Many individuals have, on various health forums, reported to have experienced (systolic) blood pressure in excess of 250. Most of these individuals have also claimed to experience extreme medical conditions, such as a heavy buzzing in the ears, uncontrollably intense headaches, dizziness and even loss of consciousness."

Kinda makes you wonder what your own personal worst-case momentary 'spike' was, no...? And let's get some Bro-Science in here - which of the big compound lifts has the potential to cause the highest momentary BP? I reckon maybe this one....

Yes, the vertical leg press is good for a very red face.
-
he is a great actor though.
-
He would still be the WSM if they didn’t exist.
-
His physique is achievable naturally. He's probably just saying that to get some hype for the show. He's never tested positive to steroids so clearly he's never used them. Only some bodybuilders use steroids. I think Arnold did a few times then said they didn't make much difference so he stopped.

Exactly.
And Ronnie C. won his pro-card before he ever took steroids.
-
I can admire his honesty....It's a start....
I just don't respect the liars (99%).
-
Who cares!
-

No he wouldnt. Hes a tall skinny guy.
Shaw would most likely be WSM due to his husky frame.
-
And in other news, water is wet!

Strapped deadlifts.

I think in Thor's case his trainer smacked him before that lift. I've seen zits pop, noses bleed, blood cells burst in eyes and people tear bis and pecs powerlifting.

"Pro" bodybuilding is on its death bed. We're at a tipping point where there are more professionals than there are schmoes. This is an unsustainable business model.
No one cares what these guys are doing anyhow.
Strongman is the future. Its popularity in the states doesn't matter because the all of the non north american competitors are super stars in their own countries.

What's sad is hes doing these interviews with espn and not an individual who's sole focus is the industry.
I'm just trolling brother, your hashtag fired me up to full troll mode.

Yes, I’m beside myself with shock and disappointment.
Who knew drugs were required to lift 1,000 pounds from the floor.
::)

well at least come back with an intelligent response then.

Strapped deadlifts.
Q: How high does your blood pressure have to go to make blood come out of your skin?
I absolutely hate straps, but strapped or not, there aren't very many men on this planet that can lift 1000+lbs off the ground.
-

not without AAS. LOL

It was an intelligent response. For a dude with a magazine devoted to the industry you obviously cant read the tea leaves.

you are the only one in this thread that was talking about the future of pro bodybuilding dipshit, try and keep up.

Chaos why do you hate straps, because they're not allowed in pl competitions?
Do you hate weightlifting belts too?
-
Always always always deny. Those that know the truth already know the truth and do not care. Those that don't know the truth will always judge you and you will lose. Always always always deny.
Do not cater to the stupid people of the world. Let them remain stupid.
-

Personal choice. A belt is safety equipment as is chalk. Straps have their place in trainingfor some people, I just don't like them. For the record, I don't use a belt until 545 on deads and 455 on squats.
-

There are 4 getbiggers that can do it, all they need is a gallon of milk
-
Strongman deadlift is a different thing compared to PL. Straps, hitching, allowed.
A bit odd, but again, a different sport.
Look at those things they call "chin-ups" in Crossfit. Like a monkey swinging around on a bar. ::)
-
Exactly.
And Ronnie C. won his pro-card before he ever took steroids.
Were you around when those experts at Chad Nicholls board were saying Ronnie was natural until 1995? :D :D
Yet there he is in Tom Platz's video's with his face hidden saying he'd been doing crazy shit for years. Video's made in 1995 ;D

Ahhh yes Ronnie & The Rest we’re hoping very few would’ve seen or Remembered
That particular Video & They can always Claim it wasn’t Ronnie ::)
;D

Strongman and powerlifting share similarities but they two different sports, like football and rugby.
No one compares Olympic lifting and powerlifting or crossfit, there is some crossover but they're not the same.
I used to HATE crossfit, primarily because I thought the exercise and lifts were ridiculous but once I understood that's the sport I started to gain an appreciation for those who compete.
