so maybe you can zip up your pants stop peering out the window of the little kids walking by and do something with yourself.

I often relax by being a loner and meeting interesting individuals and street people
All alone on a five mile hike pass the soon-to-be Raiders stadium to Ellis Island Casino for lunch (Fish & Chips - the best I've ever had) and then buy-in for a hundred at the $5 Blackjack table ...... where I'll quit when I'm $50 ahead or when I've lost $50 ...... after enjoying a few beers and conversing with new-born player's who don't know what the hell they're doing .... but enjoy doing it anyway.
Then off to an old red-neck bar (Stage Door) for one or more $3 Bud Lites with a five dollar bill in the bar-top poker machine.
DAN18, if you ever find yourself in that joint, wear your USMC cover/cap ... and you'll never pay for a beer or a solid drink which simply appears like magic before your very eyes.
Then I walk a crooked line for half the way back home until one of the kids with the two dogs comes looken ... always asken about my 4 hour venture when and where interesting shit always happens.
Such as Jon Cena stopping me to say, "Thanks for your service!" and a gripping handshake. Or the black street girl who came running just to say "Thanks!" just because of the MC logo on my cap.
That impressed me more than Jon. She was over-weight but ran pretty damn fast!
Best way to relax away from everyday family life .... but twice a week is just enough.

1. swim in my pool
Spending time in your own pool while there is good weather (think 75-85 Fahrenheit) is actually one of the most pleasurable pastimes. If you have a pool in your backyard, with adequate privacy via either a high fence or trees and good lighting around and within the pool, you can have a great time just relaxing. Throw in a little alcohol, possibly some soft music playing in the background and it makes for a great way to end your day. You are able to disconnect from the world and just stare up at the night sky while unwinding.

Yes..Next house will have a pool. My community has an expansive pool area but obviously no privacy but lots of eye candy. Otherwise between the gym and my 3 yr old son I don’t have much time for anything else.

Wow Rob, so you're saying that you were able to hold it down in the positivity thread WITHOUT Mr THC's involvement? What kind of reverse psychology voodoo business is that? LOL - fair play to you 8)

Videogames, reading, model kit building, working on my novel, watching movies (especially somewhat older fare that I can barely remember; e.g., cheesy cult classics like Race With the Devil and Solar Babies), arguing on the Internet.

In Australia (zillions of pools) every pool must be fenced by law, because some 2 years old could drown !.
But when crock snatch someone, then is okay :P

I'm a man of unfinished (and often unstarted) projects. I enjoy attending industrial auctions and coming home with some of the world's most well built gear for pennies on the dollar. The latest nugget was an unused bosch rexroth axial displacement hydraulic pump, hidden away on a pallet of componentry. Retail roughly $10,000. I paid $50. If it won't suit the backhoe as a backup, I'll use it to build the world's most skookum log splitter or for shop hydraulics.
Also on the agenda is a glass extension for the house, which has an extraordinary view. It'll be triple glazed with 10mm panes of toughened glass, again from the auctions, and two fat dessicated argon cavities. This is unheard of. It would be so cost prohibitive to hire a contractor for that only Bill Gates would pay for something like this. Each 2 meter x 900mm section will weigh about 330 pounds and R value is Alaskan. I'll likely set them in multi-fold cedar frames (or possibly decorative wrought-look frames to suit the nouveau theme of the house) and motorize it so it can be fully opened. This will be the gym.
And umpteen other projects involving metalworking, woodworking, landscaping, growing, brewing, arduino control, hydraulics, etc. I'd have to quit my job and live to be 1000.

I'm fortunate in Western Australia to see all kinds of shit from mining companies. Amazing technology. Business going under can be a good source too tho. I rate big utility companies as a good source for vehicles which would otherwise be beyond my budget. Got my Isuzu flatbed with a crane that way.
Also lots of old iron to be had if you want to get into machining since everyone in business pretty much has to run CNC to be competitive. Seems like in the US hobby guys build rotary phase converters to obtain the necessary 3 phase, but I say it makes more sense to put those $ toward a 3 phase generator and get a transfer switch for your house while you're at it!
Edit: Going down this afternoon to pick up earth screens. Got a pretty rocky 6 acres to tame so figure I'll build a shaker table to sieve through or a rotary sieve kinda deal for the 4/1 or loader skeleton bucket. Not sure if this is one I'll ever get to but fuck it, I got 2 pallets of brand new mine spec screens for a lousy 62 aussie dollars.

I spend a ton of time in the pool. Nothing is more relaxing that have a drink with some big band crooners on a nice Bose speaker. I listen to Sinatra, Martin, Buble and many others floating around in an inflatable seat or floating mat. Sometimes on a floating mat looking at the clouds for hours. Before I get out I swim a couple laps. Not for the exercise but just for the serenity. Nothing but woods past my pool so it's serene.
I live near the ocean and nothing is better than rough NJ surf. I love body surfing or just playing in the waves for sometimes hours. Something about Jersey girls with their Jersey vibe on the beach. I also run the boardwalk Off season. The serenity is amazing looking at the ocean and the boardwalk is pretty barren of people. In season the bikini watching on the broadwalk is fun too as I run.
My daughter and her husband work unusual long hours and a few days a week they drop off their dog. I feel like it's my dog. He lives to be my buddy. Across the street from my house if I walk in between houses and follow a trail it puts me in a small forest with a lake. I don't know how in a residential neighborhood so few know about it. I take the dog in there and have seen all kinds of wildlife. I've seen snakes, foxes, deer, Egrets, turtles, hawks and possibly an eagle but it flew so fast I'm not sure. I can walk in there three days a week for a year and come across maybe three humans. It's like stepping into an alternate universe. The lake has a feed stream and an exit stream. Someone made a primitive log bridge that you risk getting dunked with one wrong step but so far me and Blue make it every time.
The wife and I like to get away on vacations when there is discretionary money. Lately it has been plenty of heading out to see my son in the military. He's Army Airborne. We have traveled to Texas, Georgia and Oklahoma to see him. Our last vacation was to Miami south beach. Fun place but there are so many money rip offs. If you go realize restaurants add a 20% tip but don't tell you. If you don't pay attention you could tip 40% and of course they won't inform you. Plenty of other scams. One bar added a bottle of champagne on my bill thinking I bet I was from Europe like the rest of the bar was from. I'm from Jersey, I'm not getting scammed.
Lately binge watching shows on Netflix and Amazon prime. Just finished the Sopranos for the second time. It stills holds up and is the standard all of these other series have to live up to. It was fun watching because I know all the places used on the show from my time living in North Jersey. I now live down the shore.
I like target shooting with my firearms though I been drifting away from it due to lack of time.

Playing instruments and recording originals (in bro-inlaws home studio w/ ex-band mates).
Beach w/ wife (and beach bars).
Laconia lake weekends w/ wife (more beach bars).
Gun range (again w/ wife) then off to lunch at like Wild Wings.
We mainly just hang together, on occasion go out to eat or see a band with another couple.
