Title: Trump is wrong about the tax law and is required to give them to congress
Post by: Howard on April 16, 2019, 11:05:12 AM
If you check section 6103.f of the US tax code it clearly states.
The sec ( treasury ) SHALL provide any tax return requested by the comm.
Now, they can't make it all public of course, BUT, he is legally required to provide it to the Ways and Means comm. of congress.

You are not on Howard's level.

The piece states that there needs to be a legitimate legislative purpose. That you don’t like the President and need a new way to harass him now that your phony Russian scam has gone down the toilet is not legitimate. It’s the definition of illegitimate.

But keep it up. I’m sure this strategy will pay big dividends in 2020.😂

subsection f of tax code 6103 states clearly that the Secretary ( Treasury) SHALL provide the congressional committee with any tax forms requested.

There is NOTHING in the actual law that deals with a "political purpose" or additional rational.

So you mean that under the same circumstances the Democratic committee would be requesting Obama’s taxes?

From your link:

“There is a law directly on point,” Edward Kleinbard, a professor at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and chief of staff for Congress’ Joint Committee on Taxation from 2007 to 2009, told us via email.

Some legal scholars, including“There is a law directly on point,” Edward Kleinbard, a professor at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and chief of staff for Congress’ Joint Committee on Taxation from 2007 to 2009, told us via email.

Some legal scholars, including Kleinbard, believe that Neal needs to demonstrate a legitimate legislative purpose for requesting the president’s returns

There is no legislative purpose other than to be assholes. Why is it so hard to understand that they need a reason, and their only one is another politically motivated witch-hunt.

Seriously, why exactly do you give a fuck if he submits his taxes? I don’t care if any of the Dem candidates do.

Haha, truer words never spoken. I haven't had those sort of political beliefs since I was a punk kid in the 90s.

Whenever you hear someone on Twitter is spewing out Howard like drivel, it’s almost invariably a retired teacher or postal worker.

There are the letter and spirit of the law.  You can obey all the rules of the road and still
drive like an asshole.  Neal is an asshole, and this would set a bad precedent.

When Republicans control the House, they can ask for the tax returns of every Democratic
candidate for President going back to 1864.  Heck, they could demand the returns of their
spouses and adult children.

So a member of Congress, unrelated to any legislative purpose, can simply demand the tax returns of any American citizen?  What kind of retarded logic is this??

Once again, the whole idea is nonsense. Trump has already stated he pays as little as possible. The impact is going to be muted to all but MSNBC viewership(those are far from enough to win 2020 btw).

Adults in the room understand a billionaire is tax advantaged and this whole idea of trying to ruin somebody AFTER they become POTUS for being a businessman BEFORE they became POTUS is going to backfire.

It looks like what it is to the average moderate voter...petty revenge, retribution, etc.

Apparently, Trump doesn't agree that he must follow the law. So, if someone doesn't abide by the law, does it mean they are breaking the law or does it mean they are above the law? Looks to me like someone's giving a giant middle finger (despite their small hands), to congress and U.S. citizens.  ;D ;D
