Mr. Nikolaev once served on a government-sponsored council for public-private partnerships in the military-industrial sector, along with influential oligarchs like Oleg V. Deripaska, a longtime associate of the Trump campaign’s convicted former chairman,Paul J. Manafort. . And his business entanglements stretch into areas that share a theme of military and security applications, which generally require trusted relations with the authorities

I wouldn't say she "got into the Obama administration as you put it. Obama and her, by all accounts have never even met. She DID however speak with Trump personally in Las Vegas

He doesn't appear to be receptive to THAT conversation--but reports say they did speak again IN PRIVATE.

Alleged Russian agent Maria Butina met with Treasury Department and Federal Reserve officials in 2015, according to a report Sunday.
Butina and Alexander Torshin, then the Russian Central Bank deputy governor, participated in separate meetings with Stanley Fischer, Fed vice chairman at the time, and Nathan Sheets, then-Treasury undersecretary for international affairs, Reuters reports.
The purpose of the meetings was to discuss U.S.-Russian economic relations during Democratic former President Barack Obama’s administration.
