Dear fuck. Wellness.
So pretty much every tosser who has a gym membership will be easily capable to “earn” him/herself a pro card in one of the 92 divisions.
“Holy shit! That guy over doing triceps kickbacks is an IFBB pro!”
“Huh? The twink taking selfies and trying to pump his 12-inch noodles?”
“Yeah. He’s a contender for the Mr. Olympia Wellness title.”
???
What a joke.

I don't think it has anything to do with everyone getting a trophy, as there will likely be people who compete and don't get trophies or prizes.
This is purely a money making scheme. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Its all about Money. Jim Manion is getting richer, while idiots spend thousand of dollars in order to get a Pro Card, that dosent mean anything in the age of Social Media.

I think this is bigger than what meets the eye. For most bodybuilding enthusiasts, they see this as a kick to the balls, whereby the average gym rat or weekend warrior can earn an IFBB pro card, thereby lowering the mystical value of becoming a "PRO".
Reality is that bodybuilding is a dying "sport". A cult-like, subculture of exercise that every day has less followers. Echoing a little of what SF1900 CSN MFT said earlier, the IFBB has to remain financially viable and one of the ways to do it is to increase distribution of IFBB pro cards, which will then come with the fees associated for the holder. Not to mention that if you have more pros, you have more participants at shows (more fees) and with more participants, you have more family and friends that will show up to shows (more money) and then you will have more people buying magazines to see their friends finally make it (more money) and more online interest in the "sport" which allows for better marketing reach by the sponsors like supplement companies (more money).
Money drives most things and this is no different. Men's physique was something many people hated prior to it's creation. I called it years ago and knew it was going to happen. Now it's here to stay and the vast majority of people would much rather look like that anyway. I knew female bodybuilding was going to be removed, because it just didn't sell.

....and that's where the money is. Hey--at least female bodybuilding is back. That's good.

Should be interesting, it is a popular division outside of the USA .... many people are asking what is Wellness and how it will be judged... this is what I found from Muscle & Fitness Australia regarding what it is...
THE WELLNESS DIVISION IS INTENDED FOR WOMEN WHO PREFER A PHYSIQUE WITHOUT MUSCLE SEPARATION AND WHO WISH TO BE ATHLETIC AND AESTHETICALLY PLEASING WITH A BIGGER BODY MASS THAN IN THE BIKINI.
Wellness sits somewhere between bikini and physique. This means a competitor in the wellness division will be assessed as to its overall body tone, achieved through athletic endeavours and diet. The body parts should have a nice and firm appearance with a decreased a decreased amount of body fat, similar to that displayed in the bikini category. The physique should neither be excessively muscular nor excessively lean and should be free from muscle separation and or striations. Physiques that are considered too muscular, too hard or too dry must be marked down.
Competitors are reminded that this is not a figure or physique category in that the competitor should have shape to their muscle but not the separation, definition, very low body fat level, dryness or hardness that may be seen in a figure category or muscularity and muscle quality seen at women's physique category.
The assessment of the physique, judging criteria and rounds are the same as women's bikini. Competitors will perform quarter turns in all rounds plus an individual 'I' walk presentation in the finals.
Vertical proportions - legs to upper body length- are one the key factors. Horizontal proportions of hips and waist to shoulder width may favour women with slightly bigger hips, thighs and buttocks.

It’s a stupid name, but anything that cuts down on the absurdity of bikini is welcome to me.
-
Need still more Divisions.
Examples:
Homo top
Homo bottom
Asian
Id pay to see that line up!
-
Dont forget the Muzzie ladies division, best burqa wins...
-
As Mr. Sepe said at he end of the clip, "Something for everyone in the NPC."
And therein lies the problem...

I'm confused. Any pics or sketches of what the ideal would be in this division?

It's not about the guys. Basically, the message is that the bikini girls are turning into just twigs with implants. They want ladies with more junk in the trunk.

Look at your average music video by Pitbull.
The real Selena before her death, or JLo in her prime, portraying Selena.
Or, check out the models from Latin American shows like Sabado Gigante. In other words, various versions of this:

FAR ARSE Division or FAT bikini ::) :P :-\
;D
I can stand behind that division :D

Why the hell haven’t they made a Thicc division yet? That’s what we all want to see, I’d pay good money to see some wide hips, small waists, and fat asses.

Men's bodybuilding (in the IFBB, at least) is still carrying all the other divisions. It's the amateurs (i.e. the NPC) where this difference is most notable.
NPC appears to be finally copying what NABBA has done. NABBA has had women's figure and physique contests for at least a decade. It's a hit with the ladies.
Remember in the 90s, we had women like Debbie Kruck who were seen as "tweeners".They were too big for fitness but not big enough for women's bodybuilding. I remember in 1995 that Renita Harris placed second at a fitness show. Yet, she was BIGGER than she was when she WON the Team Universe bodybuilding title and placed 3rd in her class at the world championships.
Back to Kruck, she claimed she'd placed either "first or last" at the Fitness Olympia that year (1995). She ended up 8th.
Wellness division appear to be semi-off-season figure/bikini girls, with small waists, big legs, and hips wide as/wider than their shoulders.
Why the hell haven’t they made a Thicc division yet? That’s what we all want to see, I’d pay good money to see some wide hips, small waists, and fat asses.
That's precisely what the "wellness" division is.

I agree. But in my opinion, not for long.
I think people want to look less like a pharmaceutical experiment and more like a "healthy" bodybuilder. I think steroids are here to stay, but moderation and dose reduction might become the next "big thing".
I'm old school, so I particularly don't like today's pros. They're just too fucking big with physiques that do not look aesthetically pleasing. Granted, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so everyone will have a different take.
For instance, I have ALWAYS been a fan of Ed Corney's physique. Short of his stature (pun intended), I thought he had a great physique, powerful looking and also looked NORMAL in clothing.
I would much rather look like this:

As opposed to this:

Ramy's body isn't practical. Looks stupid in suits, normal clothing or even swimwear. The guy likely has issues doing basic things like wiping his ass. Moreover, the mainstream masses can never relate to this body. Women won't find it attractive and only the most deranged of homosexuals will want that for sex.
Again, maybe not tomorrow, but I believe Men's bodybuilding will take a backseat to Men's Physique.

I doubt that. Keep in mind that Brandon Curry was Mr. Olympia last year. I think he should have won again and, had Ramy not been ultra-shredded, Curry would have another Sandow.
Plus, let's not assume that the smaller guys are taking fewer anabolics. See my comments about Milos Sarcev in another thread. SO many pundits thought bodybuilding would be much more acceptable if he were Mr. O, instead of Yates. That drove the morphing of MD to "Muscular-Development-Fitness-Health" and later "All-Natural Muscular Development".
It turns out that Sarcev was indulging in way too much stuff, including Synthol which almost KILLED him.
Back to the women, it's a different animal. Guys are doing most of the looking and if the ladies don't look good, the "sport" will wither away.
The Ms. Olympia was its own show, independent of the Mr. Olympia. Now it clings to Mr. O for dear life.
Rachel was beautiful; Cory was beautiful; Lenda was beautiful (at least after '92).
When you have a ro-beast like Iris Kyle as champion for 10 years, what do you expect to happen to female bodybuilding? I don't see Arnold Schwarzenegger bringing back the Ms. International. But, I'd bet a jug of weight gainer that there will be a "Wellness" show at the Arnold Classic (Heck, he already has that at the Brazil-version of his show).

Put all the killer body cross fit chicks in the wellness division and Jim Manion’s creepy kid can make millions of dollars off of them.
