Title: Would Dorian have won in 1994 if he didn’t tear bicep... but instead.. his LAT?
Post by: Royalty on May 17, 2019, 03:24:12 PM
He tore his bicep doing barbell rows with 440LB. It could have easily been one of his lats instead.

Obviously his back was his best body part, and the back poses were the judge’s favorite mandatories..

Would the judges have overlooked a damaged lat? (They overlooked the torn bicep)

He tore his bicep because 'it's all drugs'.

Disagree slightly.  Drugs played a part, sure but he trained too heavy for too long especially during contest prep while on a calorie deficit.  Plus, the underhand grip style of row didn't help.  But, too answer the posters original question, NO.  I don't believe he would have won with a damaged lat.  Dorian still won the majority of poses with the damaged bicep because he was able to mask it in most poses.  The lat would have been a bridge too far.

1994 is a faux controversy.  Shawn wasn't even close.  Dorian won front lat spread, ab/thigh, most muscular, side chest and side tri's.  Shawn may have won front and rear double bi's.  Plus, Dorian owned the quarter turns.  My math may be "fuzzy" but that's like 9-2 Dorian.

Mods, can we close this thread now?

It wouldn’t have mattered. Dorian’s head could’ve been cut off and rolled onto the stage and you Yates loving phaggots would be saying how grainy Dorians cheekbones are and how full his lips are.

Yes.

Shawn was to small, judging hadnt evolved. Dorian would have been given the benefit of being the champion.

Yates with his damaged bicep was light years better than anyone else.
