I get it, trust me. I own 8 guns for over 40 years now, never killed a person or animal w/ them, just beer bottles (as a kid) and paper targets (nowadays).
The laws are just noise for the anti-gun crowd, but people w/ domestic violence and other felonies should not have them. They cant even enforce what we have in place today.

Life threatening situations happen in seconds. Cops are not going to fall out of the sky immediately when you are in danger. This isn't a fucking movie. Batman is not coming to save you. Police response time is 15 minutes,(if you are lucky) and if someone sees you being attacked as it happens and calls 911. An arterial bleed will kill you in 3 minutes. Police are good at getting to a crime scene after someone commits a crime and runs away. They look around and piece together what happened and then try to catch the bad guy after the fact. They can do fuck all for you when you are being attacked or raped or shot at or stabbed. You are fucked. You are on your own.

Life threatening situations happen in seconds. Cops are not going to fall out of the sky immediately when you are in danger. This isn't a fucking movie. Batman is not coming to save you. Police response time is 15 minutes,(if you are lucky) and if someone sees you being attacked as it happens and calls 911. An arterial bleed will kill you in 3 minutes. Police are good at getting to a crime scene after someone commits a crime and runs away. They look around and piece together what happened and then try to catch the bad guy after the fact. They can do fuck all for you when you are being attacked or raped or shot at or stabbed. You are fucked. You are on your own.

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what law enforcement can do. They aren't worthless, they're just worthless in the moment when you are fighting for your life.
When someone is attacking you, stabbing you, robbing you, sticking a gun in your face.....they won't be there. They will come afterwards, draw a chalk outline around your corpse and try to figure out what happened.

As a result I chosen to take a more proactive approach to my safety. If other people don't want to own and carry guns I have no problem with it. To each their own.
The problem lies with the left. They are obsessed with what other people do, and they are hell bent on stopping people from doing anything that they don't like. They have a lot of plans to take my guns. They have no plans to take guns away from criminals.

Quite simple logic, and not in a good way. "Columbine, Las Vegas, Orlando, New Zealand, Paris" ...what is another common factor? Gun free zones, aka places where you can't legally carry a gun. Guns are made to kill the bad guys, but the bad guys uses them also. How do you prevent that, taking guns away from the good guys? Would it help, or make them helpless victims?
