Kids aren't as physically prepared as they once were. This is not up for debate. The average kid today, athlete or not, is approximately 1% of the average kid 30 years ago (physically). Yes, that is a made up %. Why or who we should blame is irrelevant; it does nothing to rectify the situation we are currently in. The top echelon athletes are getting better/bigger/faster but the average player/kid is falling way behind.

Kids dont go outside and play sports anymore (growing up) they play video games, play with electronics, pick fights via "web comments".
We played every sport back then (hockey, FB, BB, soccer, hoops, lifting, track-field, etc). Couldnt find me indoors. Played hockey on traveling teams at age 13, stayed w/ Canadian families for tournaments, then they came here and stayed w/ us, etc.
Modern life wants men w/ zero test, zero muscle, zero opinion, sports builds character and confidence, stuff is lacking these days. Soft generations getting softer...

Also the average 20 -35 don't like to go clubbing/bars/pubs anymore they rather stay home "Vaping" like if the weekend was just another monday or tuesday night ... something you could easily do later in life; in your 50's( smoking a cigar instead) ........... what a waste of youth .
