Title: Border Patrol: Group of 1,036 migrants is largest ever found
Post by: loco on May 31, 2019, 07:06:01 AM

EL PASO, Texas (AP) — A group of 1,036 migrants that crossed the border illegally El Paso, Texas, is the largest the Border Patrol has ever encountered, the agency said Thursday.

The crossing was the latest sign that migrants are increasingly coming in large groups. The Border Patrol said it has found 180 groups of more than 100 people since October, compared to 13 in the previous 12-month period and two the year before.

A Border Patrol surveillance video that President Donald Trump shared on Twitter shows people filing under a chain-link fence to a spot on the U.S. side, where they waited for agents to pick them up. Authorities said it took about five minutes for all to cross around 4 a.m. on Wednesday near downtown El Paso.

The group included 934 people in families, 63 unaccompanied children and 39 single adults, authorities said. The majority were from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

I don't get it.

Why don't they stop these people from going under the fence?

What is the function of the Border Patrol if they just let 1032 people walk in?

I don't know.  Not enough staff?  How would border patrol officers physically stop illegals from going under the fence?

That wouldn't be necessary if only the USA had a border wall instead of that flimsy chain link fence.

That sure as fuck looks like an invasion to me, and because of our dumb fucking asylum laws they will all essentially be american citizens in 20 fucking days! >:(

I fucking hate Congress and these 9th circuit judges that are holding everything up.  Fisher Industries, and We Build the Wall just put up more wall the last three days (It was held up by permits for 1 day in between).  Not sure how much they did, but they did a half mile over Memorial day weekend too so I'm sure it's at least that and so far they've spent only 4 million.  The sections they do have a paved road for the agents, sensors under the pavement, lights, and cameras as well.  We should all just donate to them since as Sheriff David Clarke who is on their team said yesterday "we know how to get shit done"

Almost 20,000 pedestrians a day join crossings by 35,000 cars and 2,500 cargo trucks between Juárez and El Paso. For 2017, the U.S. Department of Transportation calculated 41 million northbound non-commercial crossings from Juárez to El Paso, a tally just more than California's population.

"Many of the stereotypes that exist of the border are simply rooted in misperceptions," Barela said.
