Goodmorrow,
With all the negative threads popping up, I've been asked to throw some positive one's out there. This one should be fun...cause open discussion and debate. Please lets keep the ad hominem down.
Also, Frank Zane WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN THIS LINE UP. He did not fit the criteria of the 70's build and neither does his relative JOCELYN PELLETIER. Between the two I can't tell them apart besides Zane has black hair and Jocelyn is balding.
GO!
STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good list, but Jocelyn should go first.
Actually...I recall seeing a shot of him, and he looked good. Not sure why he competed over 60 though...he looked good at one point, and must have known he later did not.

The 5 Greatest bodybuilders of all Time, that’s a good question there’s a big difference between the greatest bodybuilder and the greatest PHYSIQUE of all time so going on that criteria
(1) Arnold Schwarzenegger....transc ends multiple generations in everything he accomplished etc etc.
(2) Steve Reeves...transcended 1940s, 1950s in terms of physique, popularity, movies, and is STILL regarded in a lot of circles today as having one of the most perfect physiques ever.
(3) Bill pearl...too the best of my knowledge (I could be wrong) NOBODY in history has won the Mr Universe in 3 separate/different decades...1950s...1960s. ..1971 that alone will probably never be matched and will continue too stand the test of time.
(4) Lee Haney...undefeated as Mr Olympia 1984-1991, got out young (31 or so) completely dominated his era, seems too have his health intact, runs a successful business and in regards too under privileged youth etc etc
(5) Ronnie Coleman/Dorian Yates/...Both set levels that were so dominant they transcended their respective eras still talked about today as the bench mark in extreme levels in muscle size, condition, etc.

1.Steve Reeves
2. John Grimek
3. Leroy Colbert
4. Jim Haislop
5. Bill Pearl (pre steroids when he won the AAU America)
Reeves was built his whole life from 15 year old on. Even during World War II in the jungles they nick named him the Shape. It was only till his health failed him toward the end that his physique showed age.
John Grimek would have won a gold medal in the 1932 Olympics in weight lifting if he hadn't competed in a the heavy weight division the past year. The rules in effect at the time was you can never compete in a lower weight class if you competed in a heavier class previously. Here he was weighing about 188 competing against some guys weighing 50lbs plus. He put the no more than one win in the AAU Mr. America contest after he won two years in a row. He would have won the gold as a light heavy in the Olympics if it wasn't for the weight rule.
Leroy Colbert had the most potential of them all. He took his motorcycle out and crashed. He nearly died. Had his foot hanging by a thread. His bodybuilding career was over.
Jim Haislop won the prestigious AAU Mr. America in 1968. I think he worked physically demanding work as a line man. He never had the Weider or Hoffman publicity. He just kept to himself in Florida but anyone in the know saw how incredible he was. He had movie star looks like Reeves but never capitalized it. I think he had a couple of commercials.
Bill Pearl needs no introduction. In his early years competing he was clean. I believe he won the Mr. America contest weighing around 200lbs at 5'10 or so.

Haha seriously that is weird looking.
-
Bob Kennedy of MUSCLEMAG said that he saw Steve Reeves shirtless in 1989, and was surprised to see him with sagging skin on his chest. That was little over a decade before be died - but everyone ages.

Haha maybe I was overly generous using the word pecs

Haha we had a lad in high school with an enormous head shaped like exactly that, to make matters worse his surname was reid which rhymes with how we pronounce head locally (heid/heed) haha the amount of stick he got was immense

I don’t recall those names & who they killed.
Gorden killed his gf with a knife in a jealous rage in their (or her) apartment in Cali....if i remember, she was cheating, or breaking up or something. He looked like a tall/slimmer shaun ray. maybe mid-90's. he might have choked her out w/ a phone cord too, not sure if my brain is making that part up, been so long ago. the muscle magazines of the day buried the story pretty quick.
i am unaware who the david guy is/was
