The Catholic Church needs to do away with the vow of celibacy and allow priest to marry.
Then they would get heterosexual priests.

If you watch the video/interview you will see that that has nothing to do with the problem.

I watched some of it. At what point is what you refer to?
Thank you.

I don't have time stamps.
But basically the phenom of gay clergy (based on mainstream statistics) was a post 60's thru 90's thing. No shortage of hetero priests leading up to that... and a sharp increase in hetero priests post 90's.
Also the correlation (based on yearly stats) shows that the abuse of boys/teens exactly matches the gay priest stats. Gay priest numbers go up - abuse rises - an almost perfectly matched graph.

How is it determined as to numbers of gay priests prior to 1960?
How is determined as to numbers of pedo priests prior to 1960?
Were stats kept back in the 1940s?
Or were abuses just covered up many years ago?

I don't know for sure, but the stats were main stream news sourced, so I assume a reputable stats company. Before and after the gay influx the sex crimes mirrored secular society -much lower rates and mostly female victims. It all adds up.
Buddhist monks are celibate - no correlation there.... so yeah I don't think it's celibacy that is the issue.

Celibacy (prohibition against marriage) is an issue because it is a disincentive for heterosexual men to become priests.
All it does is attract gay men who do not want women anyway.
Gay men marrying each other is only a very recent thing.

This is why it won’t change.
Too many practicing Catholics still in denial.
The Priesthood has always been a way for effeminate guys who grew up in tough neighborhoods to avoid beatings.
