Title: Tricep injury?
Post by: Irongrip400 on July 01, 2019, 06:59:19 PM
I’ve never had anything like this happen, so I’m not sure if maybe I just pulled a muscle or maybe something worse. I did my first set of pull ups and getting higher in range I heard/felt a crunching/popping in the back of my arm where the tricep ties into the back. It finally felt like a Charlie horse so I dropped off the pull up bar and rested a minute. It felt just a bit awkward so I went to do the next set and as soon as I tried to pull, it had the Charlie horse feeling like I’d been punched in the back of the arm. Immediately stopped and got on the treadmill to at least do something. Came home, took an anti inflammatory, slapped on a salon pas and logged onto Getbig ASAP. Any thoughts fellow bro-scientists?

Might not be tricep. Check Teres major or minor especially if you felt While doing pull-ups

You might be right. It seriously feels like the tricep, even when I push on the area.  But when I push with the arm the tricep doesn’t hurt. When I try and pull, like open a drawer or something, this little muscle hurts. It feels a bit better as the day has gone on. I’ll rest it, getting ready to go on holiday and aren’t wanting to be hobbled.  I’ll maybe set up a doc appointment when I get back.  Thanks for the suggestion Coach.

Update. There’s a small bruise forming in my armpit. I’d assume this means a small tear? It does not hurt as bad today, but it’s not right. Going on vacation for a bit, so maybe I’ll just take the next two weeks off and drink.

Sounds like a tear at the teres major but hey, I’m no doctor but even if it is there isn’t a whole hell of a lot you can do with it except rest it, anti-inflammatories, ice/heat contrasts and REST. It’s a painful area for a tear. Good luck
