Not really. Just recognizes that there are big imbalances in the current system and it could use systemic improvements. It's not impossible for minorities or underprivileged to make it in a Western capitalist society and most of us would never say that, despite it being the right's favorite talking point. Recognizing that you or others have had to deal with certain obstacles that shouldn't exist doesn't just boil down to guilt, no matter how easy that narrative is.

The last time I said the title out loud was when plans for a Chick-Fil-A inside Buffalo/Niagara Airport were scrapped because some panty-waist queen got upset. However, once you get into the micros of how these things works, there's a lot of variation that really doesn't have anything to do with how smart you are and how hard you work.
One example that was actually discussed on here not that long ago (actually maybe it was about a year ago)- homeownership and how it plays into intergenerational wealth. No one brought it around to race, like most threads on here, so people weren't parsing everything to fit an agenda. People were discussing how they knew people who got inheritances of $500k+ in their 50s even though they'd been struggling for most of their adult life. And I know some people who've had similar breaks.
There's a lot of other little things that just show up in day-to-day life, and I'm sure for most it's just sounds like "tough titties. everybody's got some shit to get over".

Getting ahead in the corporate world is very complex. Some of you here have made some very valid points, but it's a lot more complex than that.
For example, you left out the part about getting ahead simply because you are tall, good looking, well dressed, with a very likable personality. Add to that being male and white and you have it made. It's sad, but true. It's human nature.
Surveys have shown that most, if not all, would rather work with someone who is incompetent but very likable than work with someone who is competent but a complete jerk all the time.

No, that's not what I meant. That is actually a mistake most people make. You need to kiss your manager's ass, the one with hiring/firing/promotion capacity. Take interest in his likes and hobbies, inform yourself and build a common-personality perception. Most managers are too busy with the day-to-day bullshit to notice who is truly excelling. They depend solely on someone else's feedback, and more often than not, the low rank managers (team leads without hiring capacity) will notice your intent and shut you down. So you skip a level and sweet talk the big boss' ego. If you're lucky you get to go to a golf outing or out for drinks, and that's their way of telling you that you're in the goombah circle of trust. If you don't do it well, they will let you know soon enough because you will be shut down immediately. Notice that this not networking. Networking is for the "low lying fruit".

In today's corporate world, the way CEOs got around hiring people for jobs that were beyond their skill set was by creating a new layer of "work ants" called SME (subject matter experts) that feed the managerial levels with the information they need in order to make "decisions" (which is bullshit because it isn't a decision, it a process of elimination exercise). In the old days, knowing your job 360º was MANDATORY. Your manager knew A LOT MORE than you about your job. Not anymore.
