"The study calculated that over the decades, those new trees could suck up nearly 830 billion tons (750 billion metric tons) of heat-trapping carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. That’s about as much carbon pollution as humans have spewed in the past 25 years.
Much of that benefit will come quickly because trees remove more carbon from the air when they are younger, the study authors said. The potential for removing the most carbon is in the tropics."

One trillion is a big number.
Even if you planted a tree every 10 x 10 meters, you would need 100 million km2 to plant 1 trillion trees. The area of the U.S. is 9.8 million km2.
-
Supposedly there are 3 trillion trees on earth now.
-
It takes 11.6 days to count to a million seconds.
It takes 31.7 years to count to a billion seconds.
It takes 31,700 years to count to a trillion seconds
So it would take 31,700 years to plant a trillion trees, at the rate of one tree per second.
At the rate of 1,000 trees per second, it would take 31.7 years.

They best start planting Now
They’ll be finished in 2050

Out of 7 billion people 1 billion could volunteer.
Each person plants 3 trees per day.
In 333.33 days you would have planted 1 trillion trees. That's less than a year.

Plus all that free fertilizer off the streets of San Francisco and Portland. Winning.

That's if only a few people did it. With a billion people the task is doable. But you'd have to find the land. Maybe the governments can pay people to do this work - with Cryptos! lol!

Sounds like a leftist/communist/idiot idea.
Yes - 2050 at the earliest.
I bet if we surveyed who would want to volunteer, we would find more right-wing people.

1 billion people? Mmm...
According to CNN*, 25% of Americans volunteer, and the median number of hours is 52 per year.
But that's the U.S. Developing countries probably have a lower rate of volunteerism.
If we assume the rate of volunteerism worldwide is 10%, and the median number of hours is 50 per year, and that people can plant 2 trees per hour, then it would take roughly 14 years to plant 1 trillion trees.

Cool calculation! Yes doing this in 1 year is not feasible unless it became a global project to save humanity and everyone felt it was urgent - like they would if a massive comet was approaching.

Good luck but I'll pass thanks 8). I just had a company on our property a few weeks ago to clear weed myself.

I am shopping for a small fruit hobby farm with mangosteen, avocado, papaya, durian & mango trees near river in tropical Queensland !.
Too many big commercial fruit farms for sale :-\

Just build plenty of safe new nucleair powerplants.
Store the small amounts of waste they produce in dedicated bunkers in areas already well guarded (military bases for example)
Buy uranium from stable reliable western countries like Australia
Warm / cool all houses and companies electrically, in 20 years all new cars and sems will be electric and you have most of climate change solved imo
Why isn't this been done yet? Left socialist communist politicians do not like nucleair power
But at the same time they have no idea how to provide 8 billion (!) people with a reliable and non polluting source of energy.....
-
In fifty years from now they will finally figure out that climate change was a hoax and man didn't alter the climate. Yes Gore, there are more polar bears than there were 20 years ago. The same hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and bad winters were here 400 years ago.
-
or replant trees when they are cut down . . .
-
Trees are extremely important to the ecosystem.
They induce rainfall, stop soil erosion, add nutrients to the soil.
Cutting down trees without planning can make land useless for food production.

Most have already figured it out.

Imagine if people tried this? Gayer than the “We are the World” song

The only solution is a lower birth rate worldwide. In fact, that is the solution to all of human related problems.
-
Sounds a bit like something out of a 'yes, we can' novel.
Legend has it that there exists a nuclear powered tree planting machine - call 1-800-BobLazar for more info.
-

Less people and more trees.
-
Less people and more trees.
No. Just less people. We have enough already, don't you agree? How many more does the world need? ???

Yes - 2050 at the earliest.

Africans & Arabs don't like volunteering , they prefer travel to white world ;)
Can anyone name just 1 big food producing farm run by Antifa (or similar mob) ;D
-

Agreed, and we can start in the U.S. by not letting third world people (you have a high birth rate) in. White people already have a low birth rate but many are too busy going to Haiti, Africa or Central America to help keep those people thriving and reproducing.

Earth's trees number 'three trillion'
By Jonathan Amos
The previous estimate of trees in the world was 400 billion. The new estimate is three trillion large trees
Of the approximately 3,040,000,000,000 trees, the scientists put most (1.39 trillion) in the tropics and sub-tropics, 0.61 trillion in temperate regions, and 0.74 trillion in the boreal forests - that great band of conifers that circles the globe just below the Arctic.

Earth has more trees than it did 35 years ago - but there’s a huge catch
Johnny Wood
Writer, Formative Content
The research suggests an area covering 2.24 million square kilometers - roughly the combined land surface of Texas and Alaska, two sizeable US states - has been added to global tree cover since 1982. This equates to 7% of the Earth’s surface covered by new trees.
large tree losses in Brazil were balanced by canopy gains in Europe, Asia and North America. Russia, for example, added 790,000 square kilometers, while China added 324,000 square kilometers.
Agricultural abandonment in Europe, Asia and North America, together with tree planting programmes in places like China have also driven canopy growth.

It really is the cleanist type of energy. The new plants produce zero waste and are almost perfectly safe.
They push for wind and solor power which produces jack shit for power and is not cost effective.

Where did you get the idea the newest nuke plants produce zero waste?
The waste they produce is radioactive for centuries.
