I’ve got some time off, about two weeks, at Christmas and wanted to get some ideas of cool places to go without much planning. Like if I wanted to go to Ashford Castle, I’d have had to plan it a year ago. Anyways, I was thinking somewhere in Europe, but also the idea of South America, especially Argentina is intriguing. I saw where they just had a meltdown in the stock market, which would make it cheaper, but also more dangerous possibly. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Oh, I’ll have me and my kids and possibly a nanny so it couldn’t be somewhere like Ibiza or Dubai, India.

How do you know that I don’t already do volunteer service now? I do, but like making other memories with my family on the holidays.

I have been all over the world and it is always hard to answer the question when someone asks where they should go.
What do you like to do? What's the budget like? What ages are the kids? Do you like active vacations where you see tons of shit or more relaxing ones where you just take it in as it comes by? Land based? Cruises? You like to party? History buff? Nature lover?
There is not a single answer that anyone can give that could be considered "wrong", maybe not what you are interested in, but not wrong. All of my travels and vacations I am 90% of the time paid to go on so I don't have much input (just whether I want to go or not), but if I had to pay out of my own pocket for the time frame you stated (with kids at that), I would try Hawaii. If you haven't been. No sense in trying Mexico (and getting sick) or S.America (and getting robbed).
-
I wouldn’t go anywhere if I were you. Santa Klaus won’t know where you live and he won’t be able to travel back in time to visit you.

I like seeing what’s out there, and as cliché as it sounds, enjoying other cultures. I don’t want to sound like a douche and say money isn’t an issue, but I won’t let money stop me from traveling. I’ve taken my kids to Europe three times and to the Caribbean four or five times. We just got back from there for ten days in July, so somewhere like that probably isn’t my first choice. I really enjoy Europe but with kids six and under, it’s kind of hard to drag them around even though we take a babysitter to help. My wife said she wouldn’t mind just doing an 8 day Disney cruise, but that just seems like a cop out to me. I remember you now from your previous posts about travel or photography or something, so any input from someone like you would be appreciated.
-bruce-, I thought about Vienna again, so that this time we might actually be able to grab a beer ;D

It's summer in the southern hemisphere. Days would be pretty long in NZ if you're a nature guy and everyone can handle the flight. I've never been but they say it's nice. Not sure I'd bother so much with destinations that require you to think about security, like anywhere in South or Central America.
I'd probably just go skiing. And you won't hear "I'm bored!" People are like dogs - make them tired out and they'll be content with a good meal and a comfy bed.
PS, Arnold says don't bone the nanny.

Have you ever considered London? It has a very festive atmosphere with Christmas markets, Christmas lights and decorations all around, the annual SantaCon, public ice-skating, Winter Wonderland, etc. You can find out more on travel forums (https://travelsites.com/travel-forums/)

I went a few years ago for an American football game. I liked it and would go back, but never thought about it as a Christmas destination.
Austria, Slovenia
I just got back from Austria and loved it. Checking into plane tickets, they’re fucking through the roof though. I guess everybody’s trying to go then? ???
Realistically, I’m just going to take a Disney Cruise. :-\ :D
