Title: Palumbo not going to the Olympia
Post by: The Keto Kid on September 11, 2019, 09:06:57 PM
Palumbo cant go to the Olympia because his wife had a baby 3 weeks ago?? What kind of excuse is that? He cant leave his wife for 3 days? Acceto is so fucking boring, the coverage is going to suck. On the flip side you got moon face Ron Harris and the pumpkin head Giles Tiger Thomas. This blows. Only hope is that Indian guy Sid from RX, hopefully he takes over, he's good people. We need Goodrum out there representing Getbig and conducting proper interviews.

Didn't they ban Palumbo from the Olympia for 2 years (around 2013 or so) and he was broadcasting from his hotel room?

Somebody needs to locate Go 4 It, I know he has a full schedule schmoe squatting at the Mirage, but I'd rather see him do the wrap up over boring Acceto.

Is that Dave's second child?

Seems rare for bodybuilders to have children. I guess Ronnie Coleman knocked up women on behalf of the IFBB pro ranks?

A second child in his 50’s too

It’s not rare, many have children, it’s just jay that’s well into his 40’s that doesn’t

It seemed to me that under half of pros have children, but I didn't bother to check. I guess they just don't mention it often.

Yes - Dave is 50. He will be 51 in January. Rich Gaspari recently had a baby son, and he will be 57 in March.

Palumbo has his hands full with new baby and anoher very small child before that one.
He hardly seems concerned about the ghey thong-fest. Coverage sucks 'cause not many in life really care about it.
Poker has a huge following on TV (and gaming, etc) so it shows the level of nothingness that BB has become.

IFBB should have its own huge media presence with TV, online, reporting, etc. They do a shitty job, so its on them.

Actually the reason I’m not going is because I have a three-week old and a two-year old here too. I went last year for the first time to see a friend compete.

Dave destroyed his body trying to turn pro. He never advanced past the amateur ranks. He doesn’t belong at the Olympia.

Yeah Dave, tell us another story about the 1995 Jr Nationals. Those stories are so precious   ::)

I was going to go at be with Joe Pietaro at the MuscleSportTV booth but I have to stay due to the launch of the IPhone 11

Honestly, I'm concentrating nowadays on things that make real money for me rather than things I like

Vince, I do not like this news.

You are a staple in the fitness industry, even if others do not think so. You SHOULD be at the Mr. Olympia. Case closed!!

Are you a parent? If so, you should know that a baby of 3 weeks and his/her mother need all your attention, time and effort.

Adonis has done interviews from contests before and would be needed to be between you and Basile so you don't kill each other.

Depends on how much money is at stake. I fully agree and my wife does too but with our first child I had to fly back to NYC quickly after to finish closing a big deal. It was enough for her to say go “get it done hunny”.

Agreed. I stopped covering expos specifically because I didn't want to be away from my children.

I missed my son's first step because I was covering the 2011 Arnold Classic. :(

Not always a great idea to get kids that late for numerous reasons, increased chance of autism being one.

I disagree - that is his livelihood and means to support his family. It’s his decision ( and your position) but I  disagree. His mother-in-law is there, he has money to hire support . . . He should be there.

Exactly his wife's family lives there,  the baby would be fine, it's a couple of days.  But honestly seeing the coverage,  Sid is killing it, talk about stepping up to the plate and knocking it out the park, he's doing a great job.

Sure. Why wouldn't he want to leave his newborn child to commentate on a contest between a bunch of overgrown, pharmaceutically-enhanced men in thongs posing to sensual music?

That kid will be around, but there's only one 2019 Mr. Olympia.

I love how some of you special people (correctly) criticise the shallow pool of competition for this year - and then when it suits you to flip flop, blow up because Dave Palumbo is skipping the very same, fairly irrelevant contest to be around his newborn.  ::)

Palumbo is not attending as he can't find someone to dupe into paying for his travel.

Also, he would probably get banned for doing something dumb.
