No Brandon Curry won rightfully
-
Congrats but worst Mr. O show of all time.
-
You could put Hadi in 2nd, but he wasn't touching Curry.
-
Hadi should've AT LEAST been 2nd.
Bonac was WEAK in the pecs and legs
-
Hadi looked tighter than Bonac. Curry/Hadi could have been flipped 1st and 2nd.
I think Curry thanked his lord and savior "fictional sky wizard" (Jesus) so things were in his favor over the other fictional sky wizard "Allah".
Either way, congrats, Curry looks good, seems like a good person (may not get charged w/ rape any time soon) a good representative for the pageant of peace.
-
Brandon was a deserving winner although I had it:
Hadi
Brandon
Dexter
Bonac - Bonac beating Dexter and Hadi is the screwjob of the show
Roelly
-
Hadi is overhyped overrated
-
Hadi is overhyped overrated
Are you pissed because he placed above Dexter?

Are you pissed because he placed above Dexter?
Chris Aceto said Dexter was 215 pounds for this show. At 50 years old, it's about over. Dexter could easily done the 212 and win that title next year. Now that would be a pretty cool story. If Phil and Rhonden come back, that pushes Dexter out. He isn't going to get any better. But Derek Lundford cant get ripped so Dexter could easily win the 212 for the next couple years without killing his body...And it's 65,000 grand to win the 212 so Dexter should seriously consider it. But I don't think his ego will allow him to do so...
-
Kind of disappointed...
Brandon deserved, tho
-
Are you pissed because he placed above Dexter?
Dexter deserved his placing although he out conditioned Hadi. They were all fair placings. But as far Dexter and Hadi they could have switched placings and no one should have complained about it.
-

I know a guy who sells crack, might not be as good as what you're smokin, but I can send you some.

Ya unfortunately it the beginning of the end for Dexter. His chest in his patent most muscular was flat as a pancake. His body just isn't responding like it use to and basically all machine work isn't going to cut it against the top guys for long. Still has a crazy physique though
-

I’ll bet you do. Why so pissed, did you train Hadi a well?

I saw that. Chris never answered the question. He was talking about Hadi

This is one of Ron's photos of Dexter, from 2002. I remember thinking his chest was as flat as a pancake then:

He's a legend and it is incredible that he still competes at this level at almost 50 years old but he can't achieve his crazy conditioning anymore no matter how lean his face might look.
-
Congrats but worst Mr. O show of all time.
Every Olympia someone will always say this.
Yeah, worse ever. Worse than Dickerson, worse than Franco in '81...
Brandon this year was better than Rhoden last year.
-

And it was even worse at this yrs prejudging
-
I saw that. Chris never answered the question. He was talking about Hadi
In MD Ron Harris talk friday final wrap up with Flex wheeler and Hany Rimjob,Hany said Hadi was 222 at the Vancour. A tad heavier tonight. In RX vid titled Hadi Choopan the best on the Olympia stage, Chris was asked Dexter weight and he said 215. Not Hadi. No biggie.
-
Everybody saying "worst Mr Olympia of all time".... Bullshit.
It may be the worst of our "generation", but at least Hadi showed up in near 100% condition. Curry was a bit watery ND not nearly as separated as Hadi, although his back fullness was better.
Bonac shouldve been 3rd 100 fucking Percent.
Should've been Curry & Hadi I that final 2 standoff.
-
This where preferences come in. Bonac looks narrow compare to Hadi and Hadi looks more conditioned.
-
Shawn rhoden charged with rape, while Curry's wife has fucked/been fucked by 1/2 gold's gym.
Have fun with herpes.
Nice tradeoff.

Ya it really don't mean much. Hadi is extremely happy and got the peoples choice. It really sets up for next year to see if Flex Lewis can beat Hadi Choopen. That will be the discussion. I'm sure Phil and Rhoden will be back...

Next year is gonna be a really good Mr. Olympia open class. Stacked. There will be 4 Mr. Olympia's on stage (Dexter, Heath, Curry, Rhoden), plus a 212 olympia on stage. Plus Hadi Choopan, plus Bonac, plus you can't count out Roelly, he can beat all of them if he actually comes in shredded

So has Jocelyn Pelletier!
-
How do you know?
Oh shit man - don’t ask him that!! Are you crazy?? Now he will post another of his dope induced fantasies.
-
How do you know?
Everybody knows Brandy
-
So has Jocelyn Pelletier!
Lol - you have a point. Although Pelletier wasn’t quite as bad when he first turned pro 100 years ago - AND he STILL looks more muscular than the dopehead.
-

Dope-induced? What "dope" induces fantasies with girls who've been run through? I'm just fine without herpes, thank you.

I can I say for myself hundreds more than you...

What nationality is Brandy "Leaver to Beaver"?
https://www.muscleandfitness.com/flexonline/athletes/brandy-leaver
-
I can I say for myself hundreds more than you...
Eh, I didn't ask you... But, given my 5yr abcence.... Maybe "hundreds" from you.... But, who.gives a fuck about you? BwaahahhA..... But YOU.
one on one, me and you.... Who do YOU think is best? Who can out train who? And who can choke who unconscious? (Knock me out dbl to you).
-

You mean "Hawaiian"? Wtf that means? (Likely pilipina x white)
-
Everybody knows Brandy
What's your source "G"? Outside of him and her meeting and walking to the gym when they met, there are very few stories on her. Not one insider on here has ever dropped a dime or a gem on her, especially the one who frequent Golds. I'm assuming you are another Getbigger talking out of his a$$.

Keep your mouth shut convict. Speak when you’re spoken too. You couldn’t out train me if your life depended on it and I’m at least 20 years older than you. That’s not a guess it’s a fact. As for the other....

Don’t think Dexter is better than Kamal
So judged fairly he’d be top 3 & Likely 3rd behind Derek
Both Dex & Kamal a very similar age.
Not being at the Olympia
And watching live stream I had dex at 5/6 Place
4th was a Gift.
-
215 is the lightest dexter has been in decades, his face is old school lean face
Crazy how he started as a bantam weighing in the 130’s, him and Shawn rays physiques couldn’t be more different
The irony is Shawn looked his best around 205-210 max, he couldn’t hold more weight without ruining his lines and condition yet dexter can hold up to the 230’s with crazy conditioning
One is a meso body type and the other more ecto

Rhoden must be totally pissed! He would have picked up an easy 2nd Sandow this year if it wasn't for his legal situation.
-
I still think Dex looked better than William though, he (William) didn't impress really.
1. Curry
2. Hadi
3. Dex
4. William
5. Tard-Face

Congrats but worst Mr. O show of all time.
This posting is all that needs to be said. Bodybuilding is almost dead. I estimate within the next 4-5 years the O as we know/have known it will be dead

Why would a FORMER Mr. Olympia, who has been in the top 10 his entire career and is still on the top 5 now, go to 212?
Next year, we could see four of the top 5 be Olympia winners, if Heath returns and Rhoden isn’t in the slammer.
-
Ya unfortunately it the beginning of the end for Dexter. His chest in his patent most muscular was flat as a pancake. His body just isn't responding like it use to and basically all machine work isn't going to cut it against the top guys for long. Still has a crazy physique though
Dorian Yates claimed Dex was done in 2011. Yet, he still is among the best.
-
Too bad about Rhoden, he would have easily made it #2
-
You could put Hadi in 2nd, but he wasn't touching Curry.
This.
-
Curry was still the best up there IMO.
-
curry won by a country mile.
Hadi has NO arms. looks a t-rex. Bonac buries him.
The rest of the competitors are all crap. wouldnt have won as amatuers 10 yrs ago.
-
Brandon wasn’t three dimensional, Hadi was.
-
Ya it really don't mean much. Hadi is extremely happy and got the peoples choice. It really sets up for next year to see if Flex Lewis can beat Hadi Choopen. That will be the discussion. I'm sure Phil and Rhoden will be back...
Kamal beat Hadi and has better flow. Not sure why there is so much hype surrounding him.

Kamal has a very good overall physique.
That’s a Great Pic of Him.

Agreed. I am happy that Rhoden did not compete, as he has a poor Olympia physique. I hope he goes by the way side, but I suspect he will compete again next year.
-
Show was so dead that I read the top threads on here and couldn't find out who won until I found this thread half down the page. ???
-

There's always the chance that he will rape another woman between now and then.

Hadi should've AT LEAST been 2nd.
Bonac was WEAK in the pecs and legs
They are all ugly as sin and need elevator shoes.

Don't go by this board. This is the most anti-bbing board on the net. The O was again sold out. It's getting bigger and bigger every year. More and more money every year. More competitors than they know what to do with.
For the last 10 years, people here have been predicting the death of bbing. Since I've been on this board there has never been a widespread majority of approval for ANY of the Mr. Olympias; from Coleman, Cutler, Heath, Rhoden and now Brandon. With the exception of Coleman, all of them have been tag with the "worse ever" label.
Such a jaded group. Cedric may have been smooth, he doesn't have the luxury of just eating, sleeping and training and he has a full-time job with the military, but here he is considered fat.
When I look at the top contenders for next year: Brandon, Phil, Ramy, Hadi, Bonac, Roelly, Rhoden(?)... I don't think anyone of these will ever meet the standards of GetBig. All these guys are already widely criticized and fail before they even started.
We should all be so fat (even by world class standards).

I agree. Almost without exception, the posts on Getbig regarding the Olympia are critical and negative. I like that the two commentators, mainly Shawn Ray, found something good to say about each contestant's physique, while not ignoring their flaws or how they compared to one another. Bob Chic is a bit corny with the way he introduces the contestants. But, even that was okay and it infused some humor into the event. But if you peruse other bodybuilding associated web pages, many of the posters have nothing good to say about the 2019 Olympia.
How is your knee feeling today?
-
Na, the Olympia is in bad shape. Some of it has to do with Joe Weider's death, some with the change in publishing and supplement advertising, some with the quality of competition. It happens, when Bob Hoffman got sick, US Weightlifting went through the same thing. It goes from a business and passion/vanity production to strictly business. One only needs to look at how much better staged it was during even Weider's declining years.
I just looked at the google news tab for the Olympia, there are no major general news outlets covering it, except for a Tennessee newspaper doing a story on Brandon Curry, and Bleacher Report.
-
Yes, yes, negativity pervades this board, like few others. I would go as far as to say as I find that having the thirst to inject negativity on the internet to be a contributor to living a shit life, so I don't really post too much, these days.
However, the standards for the olympia stage have dropped, considerably, too.
And in the context of the olympia stage, those Curry photos seem to depict someone who is not in their best condition. Another clear indicator that the competition has diminished.

Getbiggers have a right to be negative towards all others as we are all multi millionaires with a harem of super models riding our massive cocks attached to our better than Mr. Olympia bodies. :D

I like Bob Chic. Who would be better? That other guy from wrestling (Lonnie Tepper?) isn't as good as Bob. But it really doesn't matter who they put up there. The still will be trashed here.
The knee is getting better. I'm able to get around a lot better but still can't walk without crutches.

Bodybuilding was never mainstream. What major general new outlet has ever covered bodybuilding?
Bigger audience, the competitors have increased exponentially, and more and more money every year = winning.

NBC or CBS covered the Olympia during the early 80's.
1981 - HBO covered the Mr. America (7 minutes in ), they also covered a few other contests in the 1980's -
.
United Paramount Network (UPN) covered the Arnold Classic during the late 90's.
ESPN gave it good coverage during the 90's, across many different platforms. The 94 Olympia is a good example, way more polished even with 90's technology -
.
Now we get Youtube clips played under a "We are Franco" chant as a tribute.

And why didn't they continue doing it? Because the majority of the people don't care and think bbing is a weird cult.
-
Exactly, that shows a decline in the Olympia as a whole. At least it the 80's, 90's, early 2000's, you had major people willing to take a chance on it, and Joe (and the old crew) trying to make it look good because they love the thing and their names were attached to it. Now it's slapped together out of tradition, and perhaps because it still brings in a few dollars more than it costs to put on. There isn't much passion behind it anymore.

usually I think the 1st and 2nd places are wrong, I never liked Phil for example. But Curry seems to be the best balance, flow, proportion, condition.
bonac has a wierd look tbh.
-
From the pics and videos online, I would have gone:
1. Choopan
2. Curry
3. Bonac
4. Dexter
212 looks like they got it right, but Henry out of the top 10 was ridiculous.
Classic looked like Breon got robbed. Kang could have been higher too.
-
Bonac looks like he has oil filled delts.
-
It was indeed his time.
-
And why didn't they continue doing it? Because the majority of the people don't care and think bbing is a weird cult.
I still say the IFBB needs a better marketing plan. With all the cable/satellite channels even as a weird cult the Olympia, Arnold, a few other pro shows along with the Nationals, North America's and USA's should be televised. Viceland has tv shows with guys getting high on weed or dropping acid so drug use should not be an excuse. Spike, Viceland, FX1, FX2, ESPN 1-ocho, NBC sports, CBS sports could all be possible landing spots. On a weekend night I can watch World's Strongest Man competitions from the 1980's but no modern bodybuilding on tv anywhere. The magazines are dead so they have to find a new way to let people know they are an organization. Most sports fans don't even know there is such a thing as pro bodybuilding.

It was not sold out. Plenty of open seats.
Unless people purchase tickets but didn’t go.

On the live stream the lighting didn’t appear great they all looked
Flat & a bit soft as Compared to the Pics
The Best Lighting was for the 212 Prejudging.
From the pics I would’ve said Hadi.
Out of the Top 3 Any of them could’ve of won it.
-
Rhoden must be totally pissed! He would have picked up an easy 2nd Sandow this year if it wasn't for his legal situation.
Yes Very Likely He would’ve
That’s rough on him as he isn’t in jail
And not convicted.

OK, but the facts speak otherwise. More participation and more money = growing.
But as much as so many here pooh-pooh modern bbing and saying it is dying, you're still here and you're still watching and following the sport, and will be for years to come -- complaining every step of the way.
Someone said that bb will be dead in five years. By dead, I assume "dead" meaning not only no more Mr. Olympia but no more bbing contests period. I'll make a friendly bet of $500 that not only will there still be bbing but the Mr. Olympia will still be going as strong as ever.
And if you think I'm bluffing, there is a member here that I made a similar long term bet with and came back years later to claim which of course he renege.
Any takers? 2014?
Yup, I didn't think so.

In regard to those pics, it's a long show, at what point during the presentation was that taken?
I didn't bother to watch any of the amateur, fitness, physique, 212 lb, parts. I'm only watched the open which to me is the main event and real bbing aspect of the show and an indication
of the fan base. Bob Chic also took a pic during the main event and it showed a full house.

Also, I just read the links. It says absolutely nothing about the popularity of modern-day
bbing. It complains about the camera work, about Bob's announcing, and about the art display of one of the posters.
But again, if you want to think of bbing as a dying sport, as participation, opportunities, money continue to increase, that's OK with me. I like hearing such arguments that differ from my own and see if I can counter them.

Keep your mouth shut convict. Speak when you’re spoken too. You couldn’t out train me if your life depended on it and I’m at least 20 years older than you. That’s not a guess it’s a fact. As for the other....
Hahaha look at the midget having a meltdown. lol 20yrs older than me and I can still choke you unconscious and pissing your pants.
-
I think the increase in bodybuilding is largely due to the rising popularity of physique/classic contests, and less so the heavyweight bodybuilders.
-
You ever post the names of those pros you lead to a pro card?
Sure as fuck not on here with all the scumbags who read this shit. They'll end up getting fixed and harassed by socially inept incels and it'll come back to me posting names here just to "prove" something to someone who's opinion or approval means nothing to me.
-

This x2. I recall back a handful of years training maybe a handful of bodybuilder-bodybuilders who would actually compete, to training 2-3 handfulls of men's physique guys who were eager to compete now that they didn't have to gorge themselves 24-7 and weigh as much as possible, and the possibility of turning pro, especially for women's classes, increased exponentially so it attracted a lot of "newbies" to training.

Good point.
I think a lot of fans are like me. We don't like the turn modern-day open bbing has taken with sacrificing conditioning for size. Unlike the golden age, the vast majority don't want to look like that let alone do to your body what it takes just to get that look. A sport that was once all about health and fitness has to be the least healthy sport today. It's harmful to your body in so many ways.
I just look at it like a freak show. Cartoon character prancing around for out entertaining and showing how far you can take the human body. I remember showing a friend who doesn't follow bbing a pic of a prime Ronnie and he just remarked: "what's left"? How much further can you go?
I don't know. But I'd like to see.
-
I like Bob Chic. Who would be better? That other guy from wrestling (Lonnie Tepper?) isn't as good as Bob. But it really doesn't matter who they put up there. The still will be trashed here.
The knee is getting better. I'm able to get around a lot better but still can't walk without crutches.
Unless the doctor says to lose the crutches, don't. When will you begin physical therapy, if you haven't already? Are stairs are not an issue at your place? What are you doing right now to help with flexibility?

Of course I've been doing PT in addition to my own routine. I'm homebound and don't like sitting around all day so I'm doing what I can as much as I can without overdoing it.
I have stairs but I didn't use it for the first two weeks and two days. Now I do it sparingly just for exercise. Still can't push off my left leg so it's mostly exercise for my right. As far as flexibility, I stretch. Trying to bend as much, trying to straighten as much. I can still touch my toes and grab my ankles to pull for additional range of motion. It's mostly the bending and straightening as I still can't break 90 degrees or lockout my leg. At this point, it's mostly about getting back strength and mobility. The worse of it, the sheering and burning pain, are behind me now. It's still a bit tender if I try to overexert it but it's good pain. The safety valve that reminds me of my limits.
The two week/two day mark was my breakthrough point where there was a marked improvement in range of motion. One night I couldn't even lift my leg from a seated or lying position to be able to swing it across from a seated to position to get into bed. Before I had to wrap my gi belt around my foot and pull with my hands to lift and swing it across.
I expect the next couple of weeks to make fast progress as I can do more now. I hope to be off the walker a month after my surgery and start heading back into the gym. I may still have my crutches or walker at the gym just because I can walk faster with it and to be safe. It depends on how I feel. I want to keep safety in mind because in the past I've push it too fast, ended up hurting myself, and consequently further delaying my recovery. Also, I'm a lot older now since my last surgeries.

From what you've written, it sounds like you are right on track. Because my arthroscopic knee surgery was just to clean up an area of my torn meniscus, PT was done at a facility attached to the gym I belong to.
Where I messed up was using the crutches. I was supposed to bear no weight on my leg at all. The same day as the surgery when we were home, my wife fell and was unable to right herself. -Couldn't just leave her laying there and could not manage to lift her up standing on one leg, so I decided to risk putting just enough weight on it to keep my balance as I lifted her upright. Because the area of removed meniscus was dime size the doctored hammered holes into the knee joint to make it bleed. Supposedly the blood helps form new meniscus like tissue. Not disturbing this process was the main reason for avoiding bearing any weight on that leg.
A kind of funny thing that happened was that when my wife fell, I was on the phone with our daughter who lived in El Paso on base at Fort Bliss where my son-in-law was stationed. She arrived at PDX the next morning without telling us she was flying up. She stayed a couple of weeks and she was a tremendous help, which is typical of her.
I couldn't get the 'rhythm right' to use the crutches effectively. I ended up with some nerve damage, which has taken several years to repair. Only recently, has the numbness in that leg and foot subsided. I do not have full range movement and its been over 5 years since the surgery.
