Title: Gym Yellers
Post by: Powerlift66 on November 06, 2019, 11:25:33 AM
There's a new douche at the gym I go to 3 days a week (M-W) during my work-day. It's a "Crunch Gym", so its very mainstream, far from hard-core.
(My main gym is from THU-SAT at another place, a bit more old-school). Also 10.00 a month...

They do have everything you need (3 power racks, leg press, 3 benches, bells up to 100 (good enough these days), etc. Its never real crowded when I go (11 AM) so its a decent option to have close to work.
Decent place for 10.00 a month.

There's always a couple young kids (like football players, high school age) and mainly a few older folks doing their cardio and machines.
Anyways, new guy there, around 40 I would guess, ball-cap pulled down over his eyes, snarling around at everyone.

1st issue he was curling in the squat rack. Douche move for sure. BY the 4th rep, I hear ungodly screams coming out of the guy. Finishes set, looks around mad at everyone to show how bad-ass he is.
Then moves over to light curl-bar spider curls sort of, (looks like 50 lb. bell) again the mad-ungodly screams of doing battle coming out of the guy. Gets done, glares around at everyone with bad-ass stare.

I see the older folks looking at him likes he's mental, I see the football kids pointing and laughing. What a bad-ass MoFo…  ::)

Fucks sake I feel embarrassed for the cunt just reading about, must feel cringey as fuck actually witnessing it in person. The type of behaviour you expect from a 14 year old laddie who’s just been watching a ufc tape

I can't fucking stand the type of people you're talking about. There's this one phag that wears a 'Vegan for Life' shirt that come to my gym. Skinny as a rail and grunts and screams like an idiot while doing 225 pound deadlifts. I want to kick him in his face over and over.

Another guy, on his last rep, lets the weight stack slam down from 2 feet up while doing close grip rows. I walked by him once and told him to stop doing that shit because its a good way to break the equipment. He meekly looked up at me and didn't say anything back. In order words, your using too much weight and your form sucks.

He may have. "The grumpy short fukk" who ignored him when he tried to chat it up with me.
Probably a top thread on his "gym-bro's" forum...

If you see that guy on your next visit to Popeye's don't cut in front of him.

If he cuts in front of you just let him.

I got a guy that sings off key to the song playing in his ear buds.  I can't make out a word. It's almost like a deaf person trying to speak. Just a bunch squeals, yelps and yah's.

A bunch of guys annoy me off in the gym. Here's a few examples.

1. A woman talks on her phone from the moment she walks in till she leaves. She exerts zero effort and talks through every rep on the machines she sits in.

2. A guy with ear buds always drop the weight stack on the pulleys. Sounds like a gun shot.

3. A bunch of high school gym grab 4 sets of dumbbells to do who knows what. So the 30, 35, 40 and 45lbs are gone to the their group.

4. The guys who partial rep everything so they can handle to the "big" weight then strut.  If they did full range of motion there is no way they could do it. If you put every plate you can find on the leg press and then do quarter reps no one is impressed.

5. One of the biggest is guys that bull shit for 90 minutes in the gym. They are in every gym. They might do 5 sets of working out but mainly they come to have a social life.

6. Machine sitters. They sit in a machine and watch the world go by.  Every once in awhile they move to a different seat. They always seem to be in a machine I want to use.

7. Guys that box imaginary ghosts in the gym. It's a bodybuilding gym. Shadow boxing just looks stupid when you're not a boxer.

8. One thing I find weird but it doesn't bother me is guys whose whole routine is body weight stuff. Why go to a gym? Do it in the park or at home.

9. Guys that lift in front of the dumbbell rack are clueless. Get out of the way smacker.

10. Guys that don't put stuff back like dumbbells, plates and collars.

Plenty of positives going to a commercial gym. Just when I get sick of lifting around people I train at home for day or a week then I'm ready to get back to  being around people. Some great guys at my gym and few good women too. One is the biggest muscular man I have ever saw. He has to be about 350lbs easy.  Never seen him squat or deadlift.  He trains hard and is one of the nicest guys in the gym.  Another tough guy is this medical doctor.  He trains hard and heavy.  Think this guy would be full of himself being muscular, strong and an MD but he's just one of the guys. One really hot chick is a black belt and owns her own martial arts school. She is only around 130lbs yet trains really hard doing stuff like sets with 275lbs in the deadlift. Really impressive for a girl that has a smokin body. Friendly to talk with too.

They're great entertainment these guys, but they also seem to be the fuckers who think they need to toss their dumbells to the floor at the end of every set.

I trained in a gym back in the mid 90's with a screamer/grunter. He'd demand people spot him. "Come and spot me on this!" - no asking.

No people spotting him after awhile either.
