Just watched the trailer and it gives practically the whole film away so no need to watch it now! What was the original like? What makes you say the character has been ruined?

The original was awesome,,,,seen it many times.
The special effects,given it was 1933, were over the top.

Many early science fiction films were interesting, lighthearted and fun to watch. I've re-watched The Incredible Shrinking Man so many times I know almost every scene before I see it.

Yes, loved the sci fi and horror movies from the 40s, 50s and 60s.
