June 2019 - hottest June on record
July 2019 - hottest month on record
August 2019 - second-hottest August on record
September 2019 - hottest September on record
October 2019 - hottest October on record

This is a climate crisis. A Green New Deal is the only sufficient response.

With actual story lines out there like the one below you can bet a certain percentage of the population WILL BELIEVE ANYTHING.

Determining climate crisis is not that simple. You need averages over a long time period to know whether the planet is getting hotter or colder. Record highs, record lows and an increased number of catastrophic storms also signal a climate shift. The world's climate is not static, never has been.

Whether it effects the climate or not, humankind is polluting the environment with toxins.

Climate change is real.

Whether it's caused by man is the question.

IMO, gross human overpopulation will continue to produce negative outcomes. Economically, reducing the population stinks. But, in so many other ways, it makes sense.

So what? Only 71% of the planet is habitable. On a worldwide basis 49.5% of habitable land is needed for agriculture. Livestock takes up nearly 80% of global agricultural land. If everyone were to adopt the average diet of the United States, we would need to convert all of our habitable land to agriculture, and we’d still be 38 percent short.

I am with you on this. I don’t know/think that we are contributing as much to the change as some would have you believe, but I do know that humans are wasteful creatures. What damage does it do to pick up after oneself and use a little less fossil fuels?

Come on, we all know this is about getting the government to take over the energy industry. That’s always the case with leftists. It’s all about greater government control: healthcare, education, energy, tech...

The environmental movement really took off after the old Soviet Union collapsed. Lots of Commies looking for direction found it in the “Save the world from Capitalism” movement.

Of course there’s climate change. Why would we expect the climate to stay constant until eternity? The only reason they started calling it climate change is because the global warming models went down the toilet. Now they can claim victory no matter what happens.

So what?  Typical self-important left-wing nut.

Human populations concentrated into a mere 19% of the entire planet isn't going to do crap to this mighty planet.  Even if we start shooting nukes at each other and melting down nuclear power plants, killing and destroying everything living on the surface, the planet would eventually recover and start all over.  It may take centuries, but it would happen.

On the other hand, we know with 100% certainty that the sun will eventually die, destroying all living things on this planet with 0% chance of ever recovering.  There's nothing humans can do about that.

Yes , and 90% of people in Canada live  100 miles from their southern border with the USA.

I guess most people have no desire to live in harsh climates or desserted ghost towns.

There is a BIG difference between a "disereable location" an empty dessert or frozen wasteland.

You left out water.  And what does that have to do with anything I said?

That video shows exactly the problem - people don’t know shit about what they’re talking about.  The part about evil coal burning causing an expansion of trees illustrates it perfectly and sets up real though and conversation.

So it’s not surprising it was selectively ignored by a certain group here.

Professor Peterson is a clinical psychologist. If I want to know about trees, I'm more inclined to ask a botanist whose profession includes the study of trees. If I am interested in our carbon footprint, I will go to a climatologist for information, not a clinical psychologist.

From what I've read, there are more trees in the Northern hemisphere today then in there were 100 years ago. The reason for this is because we are actually planting more trees then we once did. Unfortunately, other parts of the world a clearing out trees (the rain forest) to expand agriculture. Supposedly, worldwide we are cutting down 15 billion trees and plant 5 billion.

Coal has always seem like nasty stuff to me. My grandparents had a coal fired furnace which produced not only heat but plenty of soot. Coal miners, specially in those the past, are apt to develop black lung disease or pneumoconiosis from breathing in coal dust. In Oregon, there is a movement to stop the transport of coal via the railroad.  Eugene, OR City Council voted 5-3 in favor of Councilor Alan Zelenka’s resolution to restrict the export of coal by train through Eugene’s rail yard and our neighborhoods in West Eugene. The defeat of all coal terminals in Oregon and Washington is a big win for Gorge resources and communities. Imagine the coal dust coming off of uncovered railroad cars in the Columbia Gorge which is famous for it's winds.

We are all at the Mercy of Nature be it man or child,
I could be totally wrong that I accept- I think Nature will look after itself.

I will go a step futher and say that if I were building a home today, I'd shoot for it being a zero energry house....mainly to save on utility bills. If I were to buy an additional auto, I'd go with an all electric one for use around town....but I'm not going to do that because they are too expensive and the return on the investment takes too long.

So, not only am I not going to give up the comforts of life on behalf of climate change, if I did so, it would be primarily for economic or personal reasons.

I have changed out every light fixture possible with LED bulbs as opposed to incandesent ones, which use more energy. LED's are expensive but they last, like forever.

As part of a new landscape project, I had an irrigation system installed. Supposedly, it uses so much less water that I can get a rebate from the state.

I recycle as much as I can. This reduces the cost of my garbage bill, because I am able to use a smaller garbage can for non-recycleables.

I buy a lot of products online, which saves me driving from store to store to find what I want and therefore reduces my fuel consumption. I also do this because shopping is a pain in the ass and the malls are too crowded which make me uncomfortable due to having enochlophobia (fear of crowded places) and claustrophobia fear of tight spaces.

My intentions are good, even though my motives aren't.

This is a good example of the cognitive dissonance displayed by liberals and leftists when confronted with an undeniable truth.

Yep, as long as it isn't happening to them, then all sorts of immoral things are ok (murdering babies, stealing money, etc.).

“Climate change” - The great tax grab
Yes, save the environment, give all your money to the government, they're known to be honest and upstanding with our tax dollars.

76% tax bracket for the middle class to fund the government energy and healthcare sectors.

I live pretty close to the Progressive mayor’s house in New York City. There’s a project going on right behind Gracie mansion that’s already a year behind schedule and it’s not even close to being done. Yet these same motherfuckers are all going to save the world.

I agree that no matter what humans do the planet will survive. The question is, will humans survive?
No not in its current form. Humans will either go extinct or evolve into a different species. No species lives forever. If you look at the history of the planet the average species has a life expectancy of 1 million years. The human species in its current form is fairly young at around 200,000 years.

Does the same 5th grader understand that the left has used this scare tactic since the 60's?  What happened to the coming ice age?  How about acid rain?  Global warming?  Now we have climate change that covers all the bases.

Acid rain is real.

Acid rain is responsible for severe environmental destruction across the world and occurs most commonly in the North Eastern United States, Eastern Europe and increasingly in parts of China and India. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) acid rain can be particularly damaging to the young from many species of plant and wildlife.

The coming of another Ice Age is an event serious scientists have never been able to predict from observable Earth phenomena.

What makes you think scientists are all politically to the left? I'll bet there are some right leaning, concervative thinking scientists. Most scientists likely don't give a shit about politics left or right.

Hope you aren't arguing with me because I have never, to the best of my knowledge, experienced acid rain. Rag weed is messing with my allergies this season. This concerns me more.

Truth.  That's why two different studies studying the exact same thing come up with totally different conclusions.

Unlike most of you Trumpers, I'm piss broke and own nothing, so I don't need to worry about a wealth tax.
I understand why you would however.

Now it all makes sense

Even you would eventually be affected when enough resources are taken out of the hands of the most productive people and given to idiots like your girl Pelosi. You see the reason the Bernie Sanders of the world go after the very wealthy is the same reason that Willy Sutton used to rob safes. That’s where the money is.

See Venezuela for the endgame of Elizabeth Warren’s and Bernie plan.

Imagine aligning yourself with Schiff/Nadler/Swalwell/Feinstein/Harris/AOC/Hirono/Tlaib/Omar/Pressley

These people are complete fucktards, authoring and passing nothing of value.

Their states are a mess.

I know of 3 people who went to SF recently and they all said it's disgusting.

But keep wasting time with a phony impeachment that will not pass the senate, and everyone knows it.
