I’m guessing a large reason for most guys looking like shit in this day and age has to do with the quality of the available drugs?

Despite fitness' rise in popularity, it's hard to think bodybuilding has risen or even maintained.

For example, today there are ample non-"bodybuilding" divisions, and that shows that people want this. But why is this? Well, as anyone would know who knows even a little about high level NPC/IFBB bodybuilding, this is entirely chemical warfare. Everyone knows that is what makes the difference. What we also know, and have more readily available examples, is the side effects of the drug lifestyle (and that's not just anabolic steroids).

Back in the 90's we relied on magazines and legends and "gym bros"... but with the internet, everyone has access to the bullshit side of bodybuilding. It's a "sport" that needs to adapt or it's not going to be covered on ESPN anymore.

And the number of people that are willing to take a pro level drug regimen is dwindling; thus the genetic pool is shrinking.  Guys with great genetics are simply not on the NPC stages

I think its exactly the opposite, people are poisoning themselves with too much, drug use today has spiralled way out of control since the 80s and 90s, people back then used to have 2 or 3 shots a week and a few orals, now its upwards of 3 or 4 shots a day

Dude - there are people on here far better qualified to answer that than me.  I suppose the point I was alluding to was the insulin/HGH thing.  I mean sure, I suppose those guys could have been on the original cadaver GH (Crescormon), but was that even a thing back then?

for about 15 years, I would have never believed this to be possible
until i opened my mind, more or less two years ago, and started experimenting with no or very low dsgs

Since then I've realized and witnessed exactly what a large number of pro's and other experts had been saying for decades:
the AAS should be the last 1% bonus. "A drop into the already fully functional food and training bucket." That's exactly what I'm doing today and I have the best results I've ever had. I lost a lot of years in the past (most of it) because of my ignorance and arrogance.

This now, contrary to what many/most of you still believe, is enlightenment.
I remember back when GH15/Nasser ruled this board I wanted to believe him so badly that I actually did. The problem is Nasser made it worse and failed to make us reconsider what bbing was about, instead focused on what it had become, only to be where it is now

Bodybuilding is a lost culture, it was a form of art. What's left is what we see out there in the masses today.

It's up to the individual to make a difference for himself, follow his own path.

In conclusion, consider the following experiment:

1- start out fresh, no gear, a lot of food, training intensively "heavy muscle-mind", adequate rest
2- max out on the above
3- add TRT'ish amounts of T to your regimen for 2 months
4- drop the TRT/training and eat less food for 10 days
5- start over 1 to 5
6 - Start over but now UP your T dosage to double whatever amount you were taking (2 months)
7- progress as much as you can
8- stop everything for 10 days
9- start over using no or lower TRT amounts

In a nutshell, why keep upping the dose if you could do the same by lowering the doses?
Prime your receptors by clearing them out while keeping the work ethic complete.
The gains will be there time and time again, much like climbing a staircase, you will build off from a better base every time and not have to worry about increasing side-effects

Over time (12-16years of dedication) , yes, you could end up with a Bob Paris type of physique and use as little as he has.

Do whatever is necessary for the body to USE the least amount as MUCH as it can. That's how you do it!

i dont see why adding muscle and some fat is bad for you in a bulking phase?
don't you think everyone has to go through this while bulking?

or do you prefer the utopic "only gain lean mass" version by eating only the clean and "right" foods?

do you think a Bob Paris didn't gain some fat while bulking?

What do you think bodybuilders cut off while dieting to look their sharpest?

Why is dealing with fat a part of bbing?

Maybe your getting fat is at another level of my getting fat. But even so, i'll reference Lee Priest as a prime example.

Controlled Fat in several stages of bbing is not bad at all. Also, losing fat really is the simplest task in the mix

Im not saying gaining some fat is wrong, but your "no gear and eat a load of food" is s recipe for disaster.

try it, you may be surprised
I know a former pro who preps people and the first thing he does these days with new clients is cut the dose, he says everyone is always taking too much..

Exactly- Far to many taking far to much gear
Likey some of that is because they’ve got very low dose / quality
And Some of it The More is Better Effect.
Just how many are out there in gyms taking Grams & Grams & look
Like Crap or Fat Powerlifter Types - Yes all these Big Doses Yet Good
Shaped Muscular Physiques still turn heads & are few around.

for about 15 years, I would have never believed this to be possible
until i opened my mind, more or less two years ago, and started experimenting with no or very low dsgs

Yes drugs are just 1 percent, the finishing touch

Walt - thanks for that

I gotta admit that my wicked self saw the IV and thought, 'so he survives a kidney transplant and then hits the gas pedal??'   ::) But then I saw the midline laparotomy and realised it must have been something else  :P - any ideas what it was please?

He's not too pleasing in the front shots.  His side shots and rear shots are really, really good though.  His back double biceps is grainy as fuck.  He's a good bodybuilder who's done great things with non elite genetics.
He's already a better pro than Dusty Handjob Hanshaw.
