Wow. Incredibly impressive.

Benedikt Magnusson barely lifted 500-kg / ~1,100-lb off the ground [which is STILL amazing]. For Makarov to get 501-kg to his knees like that is amazing.

If the second heaviest deadlift is 1,026-lb, I'm very surprised he didn't try 1,050-lb after missing the record attempt. May as well put distance between himself and the current #2 lift.

I can't believe we're getting anyone seriously challenging Eddie Hall.

I maintain a view I have that if you are half as as strong as the world's strongest men - you're strong!

E.g., world record bench = 740-lb. So if you bench press half of that, i.e., 370-lb, you are STRONG.

The only lifting I care about anymore is Olympic lifting and in the US so many have no clue what you're even talking about. A 315lbs clean and jerk by an ordinary gym rat is incredibly impressive. If you tell someone about that the usual response is that's nothing  my friend lifts 350lbs and they are talking about a bench press or a deadlift.
