Not to mention can somehow afford thousands of dollars more on steroids per month. All this while paying for his cost of living and other expenses.
I've met professional bodybuilders that were bringing in good money every month, top 5 guys do it by way of sponsorships and speaking engagements, the vast majority of others did it by gay 4 pay engagements and illegal drug sales.

I don’t think I spend $2k a month eating out and groceries and I’ve got kids too. I couldn’t imagine a $6,000 month food bill.
-
In 2006, I recall Jay Cutler stating that he had a penchant for sushi. I believe this was a penchant for restaurant sushi, at a cost of around $50 per outing, and he may have been eating it daily in the off-season. That was a rather expensive penchant, but I can see Jay paying the ~$1,500 a month on sushi. In his bodybuilding.com video series [it was on YouTube recently, and should still be on there] Jay stated that he spends $100,000 a year on massages from Registered Massage Therapists, and he stated elsewhere that another bill was "100 grand a year" [possibly his total grocery bill, but I forget].
I'm not sure if Jay mentioned both $100K per year expenses in that video series, but I think I'm remembering that correctly:
- $100K per year on massages.
- $100K per year on food.
- $100K per year on PEDs [just my guess].
Or maybe the 2x$100K per year expenses were on massages, and my/our [Getbig's] estimated cost of his PEDs. Back in the day, people would guess that top pros would pay $60K or more per year on gear.
Is that $60K figure accurate? $5K per month? Are pros on GH year-round, and is GH alone over $1,000 monthly?
I could see Jay spending so wildly...after all, he was one of the pros likely making $1.5 million a year - combine that with his real estate investments in Las Vegas, and being good with money, and I could see him shelling out some serious coin for some of these things.

$2G a month is the same ESFitness used to blow on sushi.
No. I used to blow $600/month on sushi.
Then my opiate problem kicked in and instead of going through $7-8k a year on sushi, I switched to $7-8k (usually$8,400 actually) a month on opiates and the sushi took a backseat.
That $600/m was sushi for me and my ex, usually. So like 20-something each, plus tip. So like 10 $60 dinners a month.
-

Not really, Pro Bodybuilders can write food off on their taxes along with supplements

Well you spent a lot (for 2 people) and Branch spent 3 times as much as you did!

Can all pro athletes do this? What is the limit they can write off; a one person enterprise spending $6k a month on food when their income is prize money based seems like it’s inviting an audit.
Vince what are some of the other tax breaks pro athletes get?

Avg for all you can eat sushi is like $25, and if you buy a la cart, a decent amount of sushi (maybe 2 rolls, or 1 roll and 4 nigiri) is like $30. Really not that much for something as delicious as sushi.
I made some CA egg rolls (it's like a CA roll except wrapped in wonton and fried) and it cost me like $10-15 , although I could've made enough to fill 3 people.
If you make your own, you're gonna pay like $17/lb of sushi-grade/grade-A tuna (sure as fuck don't wanna make sushi yourself with salmon if it's not smoked. It's the most common sushi fish to cause food poisoning. Most sushi chefs won't eat salmon sushi), then like $4 for a pack of seaweed wraps, and a bottle of Mirin, sugar, and the rice... And then the wasabi you're better off just buying from a sushi restaurant, since the shit you buy in the store doesn't have the same flavor and is just hot... Plus soy sauce, Japanese mayo (Kewpie for example, runs like $6 for a container). So you could eat a pound of sushi a day (tuna) for like $140-150/wk.
For people who don't really like to cook, buying sushi every day beats the hell outta burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders or breasts, potatoes and rice.
Figure a burger or chicken sandwiche at a Restaurant will run you $10-14 + tip as well, and all you get is fries.
I'd rather eat spaghetti-o's or hot dogs than spend all the time making a day's worth of chicken breasts and baked potatoes (even the ones for $2 wrapped in plastic you cook in the microwave).

GH15 puts Branch Warren's $2000to shame when it comes to sushi! ;D

They can write off anything related to competing in bodybuilding...massages, sports therapy, gym memberships, etc. Audit was nothing to worry about...its really all in the tax code and similiar to other professional athletes.

It's about $55 per person at Nobu in Malibu. Remember his wife competed for years. I mean it's possible but unlikely to hit $2k in a given month for both of them.

Thought Nobu sucked. Best sushi I've had is either Sushi Asahi in Riverside, or Sushi Deli 2 downtown San Diego. Asahi is AYCE and only like $17 before like 4 & $22 after. Cheap AF and the best hamachi I've had anywhere.
-
Wife and I go for sushi at least once a week for no less than $120

Branch owns a shipping/freight company, he was well off before bbing, never needed it to survive, did it as a hobby

Athletes can't write off food. Everyone needs food to live and work- regardless of whether or not you need more of it to put on or maintain muscle. Athletes can deduct food as part of travel expenses or business meals, but not their daily groceries.

- $100K per year on massages.
- $100K per year on food.
- $100K per year on PEDs [just my guess].
100k per year on massages ? That's like almost 300 bucks a day... would be a lot cheaper to just get some Thai girl.
I honestly doubt that anyone spends that much on massages ... that would be like what 3 hours of daily massages at a rather expensive rate?
100k per year on food seems ridiculous to me too, even if you're only eating prime beef filet and stuff like that... but it might be possible in some countries where food is really expensive and if you're eating out twice a day.
100k per year on PEDs has to be bullshit. AAS cost next to nothing, even at 10gs per week (and I doubt most pros use close to that) including tren that would be like 1000$ a month MAX ... but probably closer to 500$ per month on AAS alone would be more realistical. GH is pretty expensive at high doses but not THAT expensive either... even if you're willing to believe pros take 36 IU a day that would be like 1500 - 3000 $ per month if that. I'm sure some pro size bodybuilders with good connections will spend less than 1000$ total per month on gear including GH.
-
hahah people eating raw fish, and paying top dollar...
Amazing...

Warren is from a wealthy family isn't he?
He owns a very successful trucking company. And top tier pro bodybuilders make a good living. He's also smart with his money like Jay and has good investments. Branch is a good guy and was always a serious and hard working person. His comments on how being married and raising a family are instrumental in developing as a person shows his intelligence and self-reflection.
The ability to step outside of yourself and examine objectively what kind of person you are and have become is something not everyone can do.

very true. It has even been found that we cannot dream, at night, that we are another person looking at ourselves and our behaviour. The brain is deeply wired to see things from only our own perspective.

I found the video where Jay Cutler said he spends $100K per year on food. It took a while to find it, lol. This was the third video from the 2013 Bodybuilding.com series on Jay that I watched to find it. ;D
Go to 8:19:
:)
PS - Yes, as you mentioned, the primary issue causing Jay's food expense to be so high is his penchant for eating out. Nice to see that Jay has a penchant for eating out. I share this penchant for eating out.

It’s because branch is a country boy and old school at heart. That’s how a lot old school Texans are, very hard working, and family oriented

I was mistaken about Jay claiming to spend $100K per year on massages. Jay claimed to spend $52K per year on massages -"$1,000 per week on tissue work." - Jay Cutler I couldn't find the clip on YouTube, but I dug it up on Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1520137648069234
Unfortunately, I tried to comment on it, and got the notice that I attached as an image below. :-\ ;D

That $100K comment was just my take, if we are to believe the gh15 claims that top pros spend $60K per year in gear. If that is the case, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that Jay may pay $100K per year, in order to assure that he gets the best, pharmaceutical grade, non-counterfeit gear available to him. I was also adjusting a little for inflation, since gh15's claims on the costs of gear would have been from around 2005-2006. ;D
I believe the number thrown around by gh15 was $60K per year...was that figure debated or refuted at all on here? Was it considered to be completely ridiculous? I think Milos Sarcev - known by some to use suicidal doses - said the $60K per year figure was ludicrous. I could be mistaken though, as I'm going from memory, and these discussions were covered on here back in 2005-2006, or thereabouts.
Although I must say, I'm pretty impressed with my memory otherwise. ;D I was right that Jay said he spent $100K per year on food...and I could swear he actually did say he spent $100K per year on massages as well, although I was only able to track down Jay on record claiming $1,000 per week.
Maybe the $100K per year figure, like the $100K per year food figure, included money spent on other people as well. I could see Jay spending money on others for massages like that. Jay has been doing very well in the bodybuilding industry for a good 15+ years now, and he strikes me as a nice guy, and pretty generous as well.
Also, it might just be a status thing, to spend on friends and "live large" as it were. :) ;)
-
Sushi or slits Matt? ;)
I usually order sushi from Skip the Dishes, so it's delivery, rather than eating out. ;D
As a hedge against #MeToo or any other type of false allegations by women, I have my girlfriends/FWB's deliver themselves to my house. As I see it, it would be a lot harder for a woman to claim I oppressed her if she comes to my house for a dick appointment, versus me chasing her down at her place for a slit appointment.
I otherwise wouldn't have a problem leaving my home to eat out [slits], but I think it's safer for me if the ladies come to me - it proves consent, IMO. Some would say I'm paranoid, but all it takes these days to ruin a man's life - or at least his social reputation, and career [if he has one] is a woman alleging he engaged in sexual misconduct. So yeah, I have women come to my house if they want their slits serviced.
Love eating slit. Love that scent. That hot scent. The best way I can describe eating hairy slit...well...have you ever eaten sushi from a barber room floor? It's amazing.
Love that scent.
I ate some hairy slit tonight, in fact! I told her not to over-scrub her slit so that it has that scent. That hot scent. As soon as I noticed that her slit smelled like Oil of Olay rather than the standard faint scent of fish, I was immediately thrown into a rage. I told her to stop washing all the flavour out of her slit. >:( She said "All I do is take baths", and I immediately asked that she stop taking baths after immediately being thrown into a rage seconds earlier.
Love eating slit. Love that scent. That hot scent.
PS - I think anal sex is bad, but I've never tried it before. Is it good?
PPS - Anal Bleaching - $100K per year <-- Is that another of Jay Cutler's $100K per year expenses? Nothing would surprise me after watching the BB.com video on YouTube of Jay paying people to shave his back, and pop his back pimples.
-
Love that scent.
-
I found the YouTube link for the video where Jay claims to spend "$1,000 a week on tissue work."
Is that the same tissue work that Greg Kovacs spent money on? In that standard toilet paper/tissue could not be used for wiping his asshole, so he had to use towels?
If so, that may explain the $100K Jay spends a year on anal bleaching.
Wow. A lot of cash self-investment goes towards being a pro bodybuilder.
Go to 6:42 here:

I find most of these pro BB food claims to be bullshit. I refuse to believe that Jay Cutler spent 100k per year on food for himself. That is just an absurd amount. Even eating out for each meal, it would be hard to spend that much

Exactly, your digestive system would just quit on you.
Its the same when you see guys at 180lbs claiming 6/8000 cals a day, they dont eat it every day, your system would just getr overloaded..

And spend a $1000 on toilet paper

Jay did mention that part of the $100K figure includes other people...but $100K per year is just under $275 daily right? I suppose he could be going out for three large sushi meals that could add up to $50 each...in the off-season? Maybe some of his diet prep food meals more specialized, and expensive?
Jay is also the type of person who would buy the best of the best if he could - and should have the money to do it.
Maybe he is rounding up the figure by doubling it? So...would $50K per year on food be more reasonable, if that includes eating out, and other people?
Eating out other people? Good choice. Love that scent.
I agree that the figure does seem high...maybe he Jay does have a bad habit of rounding off figures by doubling them...maybe tripling them?
-

;D ;D ;D
Jay spends $1,000 weekly on tissue work, so yes.
Greg Kovacs just used towels. This is funny:

Why so incredulous? You could spend that easily bringing in otoro and top cuts if you were foolish enough or rich enough.

The fact that he didn't realize he was spending $2000 a month on sushi, in addition to his other groceries, suggests he's not very good with money.

My wife and her sister got 2 drinks in Dubai airport, 1 beer and a Baileys , it came to £37
Many people using that Airport lounge (millionaire arabs) dont even see how much anything costs, it doesnt matter to them if it cost £370 or £3700, they wouldnt bat an eyelid

I don't believe that BB can claim $ 100K as food allowance !.

I’ll wait until Vince Goodrum CPA gives his answer. Vince obviously knows a loophole or two that we don’t.

So you're telling me a third tier mens physique ifbb pro can write off $100,000 worth of food?
The claim that Jay was writing off food was mentioned on MuscleMayhem, years ago.
I think Jay verified that he was writing off some quantity of food.
It makes sense, in that his physique is his brand, and therefore, he would need a certain quantity of food per month to sustain his muscular physique.
I have no idea if any of this is true though - I'm only going based on what I read in threads online. I didn't independently verify whether or not this taxable deduction is possible. It made sense intuitively...but we can all say we need food to do whatever job we do...so couldn't we all be entitled to write-offs?
If he's traveling on business, maybe he could claim it as an expense? I'm not sure.
As for Jay's figures - I'm glad I dug up the videos where he claimed to spend $100K per year on food, and $52K per year on "tissue work" [massages from a registered massage therapist].
Whether or not it's true is another matter - but Jay did claim that.
Still curious if the $60K per year in drugs figure is accurate though.
-
The fact that he didn't realize he was spending $2000 a month on sushi, in addition to his other groceries, suggests he's not very good with money.
Not really. He related how he specifically saved a certain portion of his income which I think he said was everything that he made from bbing and used his income from his business for day to day expenses. So after paying off mortgage, car payments, utilities, and all other fixed expenses then the rest was play money. I keep a strict budget as far as saving and fixed expenses but I don't keep track as to how much I spend on eating out, entertainment, movies, amazon... I just know that when I run out of "play money" I don't play. Fact is, Branch is very well off and seems to be enjoying life more.

Five pounds of Orange Roughy a day at $15/lb puts you at $574/week. I don't think people realize just how much these pros eat. Not sure what cut of steak he buys but I'm sure it's not Chuck roast. I'm sure Jay can easily put away 2.5 pounds of fish in a meal twice a day and the same with steak. So were at over grand a month just for fish and beef. Jay claimed to eat as much as 10 meals a day getting up in the middle of the night just to eat and it's the eating part that is the hardest part to being a pro bodybuilder.

I see you read that interview by Ron too. I can't find it on Getbig, but I archived it on my website [with Ron's permission of course - way back in the day...Ron allowed me to upload a lot of his content. Ron is great like that]:
I currently have ten meals a day, and eat most of my carbs close to my training times. My last meal at night is usually around 8pm, and I have a shake, and my first meal is about 7am (oatmeal and egg whites). I don't eat during the night, but usually I take glutamine powder.
I drink three gallons of water a day, and because of this, I get up to use the bathroom at night, and I keep the glutamine by the sink and take 5-10 grams of glutamine when I go. Only ISS Glutamine. That's the best.
Good memory, pellius!
Since Ron still has my website name, Bodybuiling Pro made to become "BodybuildingPro" on here because I spammed the link back in the day, here is another way to access the article on my website:

::) That's the opposite of what the video shows. You're creating this imaginary narrative, when he clearly states he wasn't keeping track of the money he was spending, stopped after he realized he spent so much and described the amount he was apending as insane. How is it possible to be keeping track of "play money" that you only discovered you spent after looking through bank statements?
So you're telling me a third tier mens physique ifbb pro can write off $100,000 worth of food?
It's just a concept that doesn't make sense if you think about it even a little. Most people don't buy food just for themselves. The majority of people are buying food in conjunction with families, SOs or roommates. If it was possible to write off food just because you competed in a bodybuilding contest, there'd be nothing stopping competitors from fraudulently trying to claim their friends' and neighbors' grocery bills. It's actually been settled in court. It's not something that can be done.

Yep. I cannot see food being claimed, as well eat food regardless of occupation. (Legal) supplements, I am less sure - but imagine they'd be free through sponsors anyway. Tan, flights etc are tax deductible though, given meeting the income assessment test.

You're creating this imaginary narrative, when he clearly states he wasn't keeping track of the money he was spending, stopped after he realized he spent so much and described the amount he was apending as insane. How is it possible to be keeping track of "play money" that you only discovered you spent after looking through bank statements?
It's just a concept that doesn't make sense if you think about it even a little. Most people don't buy food just for themselves. The majority of people are buying food in conjunction with families, SOs or roommates. If it was possible to write off food just because you competed in a bodybuilding contest, there'd be nothing stopping competitors from fraudulently trying to claim their friends' and neighbors' grocery bills. It's actually been settled in court. It's not something that can be done.
STFU already! You're such an argumentive little twat even with the most trivial things -- projecting asinine motives "creating imaginary narratives". Oh brother. It's very possible one can keep close tabs on specific aspects in their life, i.e., saving a certain percentage of one's income; and not with other aspects like allocated spending money. I have no idea how much I spend eating out but I'm sure it's more than I assume. Fact is that Branch is well off financially and you're an insecure annoying tool that complains about women avoiding you as walk on the street and cries for advice on how to develop your delts because " synthol" isn't working. Jesus fuking Christ! A creepy conceited Brew with a nothing physique training for years still not knowing how to train delts and shooting oil in his shoulders in the quest for "capped delts".

Is he trying to make a comeback ?

In other words, I was right and you'd rather have a temper tantrum than admit it. Carry on.

Crazy as it might sound to some of you, Vince does know a lot about buttholes.

In other words, as much as you want to project your imaginary narrative on Branch's lack of financial acumen, the proof is in the pudding. Fact is, Branch is well off and managed his money well and you're an envious, arrogant, insecure little Brew that shoots oil in his shoulders so that maybe women he doesn't know will not ignore him.
Jeeze, imagine that. A grown ass married man that doesn't compete shooting oil in his delts solely to impress other people he will never know.

Imagine the amount of sketchy sushi he must have eaten over the years...Got to be some serious parasites living in the stomach of Branch Warren. Might be why he trains as if he has the Downs...

Are you on crack? I put "bro science" in the thread title and said I wanted to look disgusting like Phil Heath. I was obviously being tongue in cheek with that opening post. Guess the fact that you took it literally explains why you think not realizing you spent $2k on sushi is a sign you're great with money.
And who am I supposed to be envious of? You, who looks like a pile of melted plastic? Or Branch Warren, who might be the only pro who looks almost as bad as you?

Branch is a success. You're not. Branch can easily afford $2k on sushi which is why he barely noticed. At one point when I decided to keep track, I was spending about $350/month on nutritional supplements. It had zero effect on my lifestyle but once I realized it I started to pay more attention to what I was buying and waiting for sales and discounts.
And I look like melted plastic? Really? Why don't you post a pic with your oil filled
delts and let's see how much better you look than I do.
You know what, I just got up off the couch and took a quick pic of my left shoulder. No prep, no pumping up, no carb loading. I had a McDouble for breakfast, two hard boiled eggs, some cashews, and a "Boost" brand 20 gram protein drink. I train my delts once a week HIT style doing two sets of lateral raise (1 set dumbbell drop set and one set single arm cable), one drop set rear delt on the chest fly machine, and one set overhead press on the Hoist shoulder press using only one plate on the machine. Because of a permanent injury (rotator detached and retracted into the joint) I have little strength pushing over head. I can get about five reps with a 5 lb dumbbell on each arm. Also, I'll be sixty years old in a couple of months.
You're over 25 years younger than me. I assume your shoulders are injury free, or at least not to the extent that I am at. And you have used synthol. A purely cosmetic procedure. You should destroy my melted plastic physique. So put your money where your mouth is. Just post a pic of your shoulder like I did. No face pic. No one will know who you are. And make it a recent pic. Like taken right now as I did. Don't give yourself a week to pump in more oil or post a pic taken a decade ago when you actually use to lift.
You have a big, cocky mouth. It's easy when you hide behind a computer. I'm no stage ready physique and nearly 60 years old. So you can criticize me all you want -- but only if you can back it up. Just your shoulder standing relax just like I am so we can make a fair comparison. We'll see if you can back up your words.

Well, it looks like the big mouth has suddenly gone quiet and went into hiding.
You're always starting shit with me and never miss an opportunity to bag on my physique but when it comes to backing it up you disappear and go into hiding like the little cowardly bitch that you are. What's the matter Heeb? You can't match up to a 60 year old senior citizen that is still not able to do full training due to knee replacement surgery? Surely your synthol enhanced capped delts can destroy my melted plastic physique. Let me guess: You don't have anything to prove. You don't want to fuel my gay desires. You don't want to compromise your Luna security clearance.
One again it plays out like it always does. You start shit with me and I make you my little bitch as you run away with your tail between your legs.
