1) Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia -

.

Probably best known by young people by this gif -

2) The Outfit, an underappreciated Robert Duvall film based on the old "Parker" series of books. They've tried to bring the Parker series to film lots of times ( Point Blank, Payback, etc....). This Duvall adaption was the closest to the books -

.

3) Thief, probably my favorite film, one of Michael Manns best, and Caan is great in it too. The opening is one of my favorites in heist films -

.

4) Prime Cut . A nasty little Lee Marvin / Gene Hackman crime film you don't hear much about -

.

WAR (Hindi). My favorite foreign film of 2019.

Pay attention and you may be abe to foresee the ending. It's a twister!

Movies made in India are very different than movies made in the USA and for no apparent reason ... jump into an elaborately choreographed dance sequence somewhere in the middle.

Kind of like a James Bond movie where Bond wins a million at the roulette table, kills the casino owner, and then starts dancing with evey casino player in the background for the next 5 minutes.

And then he picks up his chips and drives off in his Lamborgini with his faithful female companion who is actually and unknowingly the evil villian who plans to take over the IFBB and everyone on this GetBig Board until her hostge demands are met.

Hindi movies are a bit wierd like that  ... but definitely worth watching.

The Possession of Joel Delaney. Nasty old occult film about a Puerto Rican serial killer that jumps into a wealthy NYC white boy, and causes havoc. The trailer kinda sucks, but the film is actually pretty good if you like grindhouse stuff. I think you can find the full film on youtube -

.

---------------------

Vice Squad - Wings Hauser as Ramrod, the killer cowboy pimp in early 1980's LA chasing down a wayward ho before she can testify. Hauser's performance steals the show, he's a spectatular bad guy in this -

.

---------------------

Cruising. Pretty well known old Al Pacino film about a cop who must track down a murderous leather queen in NYC's underground gay scene. It's well known, but I doon't know how many people have actually seen it. Everyone deserves to see it even just once, it's pretty wild for a mainstream film -

.

I remember Cruising. Al Pacino is an amazing actor. I remember seeing this not knowing fully what it was about. Pre home computer and internet. I remember thinking this is like a gay porno movie.  LOL.

BB/OldTimer, That CRUISING movie was about two cops (one gay, one straight) looking for a guy who killed gay night-club patrons ... if I recall correctly.

Interesting thing about that film is that one of the Santa Monica Gold's Gym members  got a modeling job for a photographer and his picture was use on a huge wall-poster that became very popular up and down the west coast and supposedly made the photographer very wealthy.
while the model merely received the standard $300 fee.

That poster appeared in the background in one of the Cruising movie scenes and although it wasn't porno-graphic, the model hoped that his family would not see it.

So one night the whole family went to see that movie and as soon as he saw that poster flashed on screen ... he yelled, "Who wants popcorn?!!'
in an attempt to get their attention off the screen.

You old time Gold's Gym members may recall him as the bodybuilder who was scared shitless by the Hulk in the original Hulk TV series and a close friend of the "Barbarian Brothers".

He also appeared in "PLAYBOY" magazine holding the model of the month on his shoulders. That model was later on murdered by her photographer .... so some GetBiggers may recall that true life episode.

He passed away ... way too young ... a couple of years ago.

Other than that ... all is well.

Zero movies for me recently, only read movie screenplays, but 'Murder By Contract' was a little known 50s film that stood out a little bit as far as being an American film that held my interest in the last few years.

It's roughly 0:00:00 to 1:21:00, never mind the 2:10:16 ...it repeats after the end.

That was probably the best of the whole Italian cannibal genre. Check out "The Naked Prey" which Deodato's Jungle Holocaust was based on. The Naked Prey 1965 predated all of the Italian genre and was kind of the first, except it took place in Africa instead of the Amazon or Indonesia like most the others.. Based loosely on John Colter's run where he was given a head start to run from Indians before being hunted.

84 Charlie Mopic is a very good war film that came out in a time of great war films -

.

-----------------------------

"Cross of Iron" was another -

.

------------------------------

Don Siegel's "The Line Up" is a very good narco-noir for it's time, well worth the watch -

.

Full film - https://vimeo.com/248170486 .

------------------------------

The Sorcerer (1977) deserves to be more well known -

.

The trailer doesn't tell you much, but read the wiki - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorcerer_(film) . Trust me, it's a good film.

-----------------------------

Lastly 1954's "The Killing" needs to be scene by any noir fan -

.

I'm going to add that to my "To watch List".

Other films I just thought of -

The Steel Helmet. It's one of the first war movies to make me tear up a bit. It's a simple film, but the interaction between the actors makes it -

Full Criterion version :o -

"Pick Up on South Street" is a another good Fuller spy noir -

The Tourist was an average movie. Not one of Depp's best, but I usually like his performances. He is in the upper echelon of actors, and they get a few passes for a career.

That's the way the cookie crumbles.

The Nickel Ride - An aging low level mafia fixer and fence finds himself in too deep with his old Mafia friends and a young upstart looking to make a name for himself. Decent, but not great film, very well acted. Very heavy on the noir, 6-7/10 -

.

Decent copy of the full film -
- watch on full screen.

----------------------------------------

The Friends of Eddie Coyle. Another great aging criminal film that sometimes gets lots in the shuffle. I'll let the trailer do the selling -

.

------------------------------------------

52 Pick Up. People should know this one, as it was a huge film on HBO and played a lot in a heavily edited form on network tv in the 80's. Three sleazy small time crooks try to blackmail a business man, and get more then they ask for. Based on the Elmore Leonard book, the performances of the two main bad guys (John Glover and Clarence Williams) really add to the film -

.

---------------------

Miami Blues. Based on the 1st novel in the Hoke Moseley series by Charles Willeford, it's a neat little crime film about a traveling grifter and murderer that winds up in Miami, and falls for a hooker. During the film he oscillates between wanting to go straight, grift the hooker, and trying to dodge burnt out detective Moseley.

It's Willeford's characters that set this one off. The man was a master of writing quirky, mean hillbilly noir. It's a shame he died right when his stuff was starting to attract Hollywood attention -

.

Weak late 80's, early 90's trailer. The film is much better than it.

Bullhead / Rundskopf

A guy does loads of steroids in the shady underworld of the Belgian meat/cattle business.

No spoilers, but the ending is brilliant. 10/10.

I would absolutely love to somehow get hold of HD versions of the original cuts - without any of the added CGI shite!

The new version of Mos Eisley was a fucken disgrace...  >:(

And the new cantina scenes were close to unwatchable...  :'(
