Title: 1917 - the movie
Post by: LurkerNoMore on January 23, 2020, 07:51:13 AM
Saw this last night.... what a dragging movie.  WTF?  Those Germans were the worst shots in history according to their portrayal here.  Can't hit a man a dozen yards away.  Even the stormtroopers in Star Wars have a better ratio for scoring a hit than that.

And a young woman in a bombed out city occupied by Germans that hadn't been raped to death?

So disappointed.  I sort of was hoping for more action scenes, but was willing to trade that off for a better plot.  I got neither.

I've found a few highly promoted movies to be quite mediocre.

Dunkirk was one.

Waaay better.

I wanted a movie about how shitty life was in the trenches not a love story of a couple fairies prancing across the French countryside.

Is that what it's about?

Pretty much.   I mean, if the message they delivered was so important, why not send a plane to deliver it?

All the hype raises one's expectations. That's why when you finally watch the film, you're likely going to be let down.
