I know some very un-athletic women that take jujitsu. It’s a martial art that un-athletic people can practice/spar and not feel like they are not getting blown away. These same people could not spar with boxers.

LOL. At the time, Royce was the least skilled of all his brothers.

The above seems like a fair enough assessment to me.

Obviously on the ground it's over for boxer in no time but you gotta get there....

Also Without the gloves the boxers strike will be even harder and faster.

Yes, Rickson and Rorion would have mauled anyone even faster.

I’m also a BJJ Purple as well as a pretty good boxer.

If the BJJ me minus the boxing took on the Boxing me minus the BJJ/Wrestling I’d have to go with BJJ.

We used to do a drill back in the day where a guy would put on gloves and try to stop takedowns by throwing punches. Occasionally you’d get hit but the odds are way in the favor of the takedown guy.

BJJ is safer too. Throwing hands bare knuckle is a good way to break them.

If you don't have a ground game you will be tackled and put in a world of hurt by someone that knows what they are doing on the ground. Even a skilled boxer is not going to get that one punch knock out on his feet when someone is trying to clinch and takedown. A skilled fighter has stand up strikes, take down defense; take downs, submissions and escapes. Anyone that doubts jui jitsu should attend a free class at a jui jitsu dojo. It will be quite a humbling experience.

This is where some guy chimes in that MMA has rules and he doesn't fight with rules. Let me tell. If you think you can bite and eye gouge yourself to victory when a trained fighter can do the same to you, you're living in delusion.

Exactly.  Imagine if Jon Jones didn't have to play by the rules!

THIS!

It always cracks me up when someone list all the "dirty tricks" one can do in a fight when a trained fighter can do the same thing and more -- a lot more.

I used to be quite successful at stand up when I was younger and competing. One night we had a judo guy come to train - and at that time, judo was the red headed stepchild of martial arts.

It's incredible how quickly you realise what kind of shit you're in when you actually face up to a decent grappler. Honest to God, it wasn't until we squared off that I realised if I didn't get off my first one or two strikes cleanly, he was going to grab me and take me to the floor where I would have no clue what to do.

Which is exactly what happened! It was that experience that got me into sanda fighting.

Judo is hugely underrated.  As a kid, all of the arts I thought were shit (boxing, judo, wrestling) are awesome and all the arts I thought were awesome (kenpo, aikido, hapkido) are shit.

I found Judo guys unhelpful when it came to newaza. Not all, but most wouldn't offer a single piece of advice in exchange for using me as a grappling dummy. It was like they were afraid of people improving. Maybe it was just the club full of cops I happened to be in.

Jits guys are the opposite. Almost everyone seemed enthusiastic about seeing you improve. I also preferred having someone tap me rather than just hold my face in their armpit for several long minutes like Judo guys are prone to do.

And in my ignorant Uke opinion, the gi is lame, particularly in an Australian summer without air conditioning. Half the battle is against heat exhaustion and the other guy's BO. It's goofy. At least Jits gives you a no gi option.

All of the Judo guys I ever trained with were in Jujitsu schools.  Agreed that everyone should learn to train without a gi.  Judo and Jujitsu can easily be modified to the street.  Judo is a sport that was modified from Jujitsu so they have to use a gi to compete.

Karate trumps BJJ. What you see of BJJ in America is the result of a massive marketing effort ny the Gracie family. They used the early UFCs to line up tomato cans for Royce. They deliberately avoided Karate and Taekwondo guys that could and would have kicked the shit out of them.

You are a figment of your own trite imagination. Therefore the answer is a moot point.
