Basing ones opinion on the outcome of an entire contest on one single picture is somewhat lacking.

Last time I checked the word "one's" had an apostrophe.

I have no problem with Franco winning. His heavy lifting paid off. Look at his pecs in that pic. Abs were great too.

The lighting is really drowning out Franco’s gyno there. Pardon the pun.

Nope.

Looked seriously “deficient” in a number of ways.

I wonder what caused his gyno, as it wasn't common in the golden era.

maybe he started adding in higher doses of test in the 80s

Tom Platz should have won.

Franco was 3rd at the absolute best. 1st should’ve been between Padilla and Platz.

From Wiki -  The 1981 Mr. Olympia contest was an IFBB professional bodybuilding competition held on October 10, 1981, at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Columbus, Ohio. Following the 1980 Mr. Olympia political controversy, a number of favored bodybuilders boycotted the event, including Frank Zane, Mike Mentzer, and Boyer Coe.  Franco Columbu followed Arnold Schwarzenegger's suit (1980 Mr Olympia) and came out of retirement for a one time appearance and won the Olympia.

And yes, the opinions on this event and who should of won it was widely different.

I really liked Franco! I even went to the Mr.O in2003 together. Nicest guy, great bodybuilder and very athletic as well.
The only problem with this pic. his gyno was out of control at this point.

I would have been okay with Padilla in 1st and Platz in 2nd, but I still think that the order should be reversed.

Francos muscularity was ahead of his time, the main issue with 81 was obviously his quads the left one in particular was not good whatever the case people forget the fact he completely broke his leg in the worlds strongest man competition and still had the drive and the will power too over come all that and win the biggest competition in bodybuilding arguably imo the one of the great all time come backs in bodybuilding history

Nope, no one forgets that, everyone knows and takes that into consideration.
Overcoming an injury doesn't entitle you to get a gift in a bodybuilding contest.

Should Dennis Newman be given an Olympia title for overcoming Leukaemia?
Should Flex be given a title because he overcame ninjas?
Should Jean Pierre Fux be Mr Olympia because he walked again after tearing both quads off?

Padilla won with Platz in second place.   And WTF is that buttslut idiot Dickerson doing on stage?  He is THE worst Olympia winner in history.  Even worse than '81 Franco.
